Joe was recommended to me by someone I met on a train. He has built us the most amazingly beautiful bookcase which fills a wall in what was a dining room and is now a library. It has transformed the room. We gave Joe a high level design and he worked out the final detail. He persuaded me that building the entire thing in oak would be expensive and proposed that we used oak where it showed and oak veneered MDF where it didn't. He cunningly crafted it so that the untrained eye would never spot the join. Having painstakingly constructed the bookcase to fit perfectly into the wall and the coving, he then spent three days laboriously applying varnish, sanding it down and applying new coats. He also built us a horse mount out of scrap wood which he wouldn't accept payment for. Joe is a craftsman, properly schooled through an apprenticeship scheme that young carpenters don't undergo any more. He was amiable, helpful, polite, funny and a pleasure to have in the house. He even refused to eat the packets of biscuits we bought so I got to eat those instead! My partner also commented on how clean and tidy he was and he took away all the rubbish at the end. Punctual, excellent work. Completed wood flooring and work on doors quickly and efficiently at a reasonable cost. Definitely recommend.

Joe fitted our bathroom and kitchen, removed chimney breasts in both rooms, refurbished sash windows lovely job.
