Being a bit of a burger fan, I suggested this as a lunch option on our stay up here in Caloundra. The burger was a standard beef burger, but I decided to add an egg for an extra $1. Originally I was scoping out the restaurant menu which advertised the burgers for $17 for dine in. I wasn't aware that you could pretty much get the same thing at the cafe for the regular price of about $9 (sans chips). Everything on the restaurant burger menu was the same as the cafe produced burger. The burger had a hand-made patty (which could have done with a touch more seasoning). Instead of bog-standard iceberg lettuce, I was treated to a mixed leaf mix, with the addition of carrot. The salads--lettuce mix, carrot, beetroot, tomato--were all very fresh. Overall the burger was definitely up to scratch. I added an egg for $1, which was cooked sunny side up. I was a bit worried that it would get messy, but the warm yolk added a delicious sauciness of sorts to the burger. Would go soft again. A real highlight for me was the chips. The oil must've been perfect when they cooked them, because the chippie exterior was super crunchy and the chippie guts light and fluffy in the middle. For $10, I'd be back time and time again if I were a local. The time from order to call-out was about 20 minutes (and it wasn't that busy), but it was worth the wait.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this place; their shopfront proclaims Kenny's Kitchen an…read more"Asian fusion" establishment, but their take-away menu seemed like it was mostly a collection of typical (Westernized) Asian fare. Thankfully, dining here showed that Kenny's Kitchen has all the excellent creativity, presentation, and flavors that the Asian fusion label promises. Technically it may be slightly more accurate to describe the food here as "modern Asian", but that's splitting hairs. The point is, the food here is creative, well executed, and tasty. The calamari entree delivers battered and fried pieces of squid served over the top of a salad containing, among other things, plenty of Malaysian style spices and just the right amount of hot chillies. It's unlike anything I've had elsewhere, and quite delicious as well. The 'crispy beef w/ plum' sauce is also very good, and the 'sizzling mongolian lamb' that another table ordered was delivered sizzling quite vigorously indeed. I've no idea how it tastes, but it certainly sounded delicious. It's definitely on the list of things to try on my next visit. Prices and portions are both quite reasonable. With any luck they'll stay that way. Though honestly, given the quality of the food and the location of the restaurant they could probably get away with charging a little bit more. Just one (very) minor issue to report; while the calamari itself was cooked beautifully, the batter on the outside was just slightly soggy/chewy. Like maybe the temperature on the fryer needs to be turned up just a tad, or something. But with that one exception, I can't really find any fault with the meal.

Very disappointing as the place was recommended to us as the best place to get Chinese, very ordinary food, even more ordinary customer service.

We ordered the mixed entree for two (but that easily satisfied 2 adults & 2 kids as an appetizer) and that was just right. We shared the main fare of the Massaman Curry (beef) and the stir fried chicken and vegetables in oyster sauce. Both dishes were fantastic! Another gem in Alexandra Headlands. Highly recommended! Great value & delicious food!

However, the tofu with spicy szechuan sauce that I ordered was not spicy at all, and had a sweet and slightly off taste. I have no trouble finding better sauces in the nice Asian markets of Brisbane to cook with for myself. The vegetables were dubiously selected. The price of adding rice on top was, even by Australian standards, outrageous. Being on vacation, I went for the fried ice cream, which had a vaguely orange-y breading that was mildly interesting but not remotely worth the rest of the experience. Nothing wrong with the service, mind you, but the food was poor enough that at the end of it my main thought was just take my money and let me go.

The unfortunate thing though was that someone in the kitchen had put too much soy sauce on them. That is my only criticism of the three courses. The fried rice was delicious as was the Chicken Chow Mien. The place was packed. And it took the restaurant staff 40 minutes to bring out our food but it was worth the wait. I also noticed that niether of us got ravenously thirsty about 30 minutes later so I tend to believe there was no MSG in the meal.

At the conclusion of the meal I had come to the conclusion that this Chinese restaurant offers the best example of Chinese cuisine on the East coast of Australia. It started with the dim sims. There was nothing exceptional in their appearance, and, perhaps they were even a little small. But they tasted absolutely delicious. It was the same as the main course. I had a beautiful beef and black bean sauce shandy. Steamed rice. Fried rice. And I sampled some of my friends' meals. They were all amazing. I will definitely be going back. Next time, I will take my camera. But, you can't taste the photograph.
