By the way, I thought the French believes in shamal portions. I am not complaining really but the steak was the size of a dinner plate. I could tell because you couldn't see the plate under the steak. It went to the very brim! So overall I would say it was a good experience, decent service, good price, etc. But make sure you check the ingredients. Also, it would be helpful to know French because this is a place for locals. This arrived absolutely drenched in bacon bits and cured meat. I don't eat meat. It never mentions any meat on the menu. Typical rural france i guess. This was annoying though as i had to swap with my fiance to have his scallops in cream sauce. Very tasty but really rich and i wanted something fresh. He said the salad was good though. I shared mains with my mother. As i said earlier the grilled prawns were excellent. The cod however was terrible. Tasted like it had been frozen with a horrid mushy texture. May just have been overcooked. For dessert my chocolate tart was grainy and mushy. Service was rather perfunctory with no apology when we explained we don't eat meat. So the 3 stars is because some elements were great but some terrible.

My husband got the feuillette of Louis XIV and loved it. He drained his bowl of pork in broth. The bread was interesting, there was a completely black bread which tasted fresh and yummy. The total was very reasonable at 85 euros for what we got. The gardens are just spectacular although we sat indoors because of the rain but they had a fire going which made it a very cozy, inviting, and romantic dining experience. A real gem of a restaurant! And they served us a literal vat of mousse au chocolat made in house that despite our best efforts, we could not finish.
