I love…read moreEritrean/Ethiopian food, so when I heard that there is an Eritrean restaurant in HD, I had to tried.
The ambience is nice. There were African decorations throughout the place and African-themed paintings on some walls, and the orange walls give the place a warm feel. Definitely suitable for groups of friends or for a date.
Unfortunately, the service was very spotty. We often had to wait (to get menu, to order, to pay), and I notice the server (possibly owner?) was just taking care of bigger dining groups before coming to us. Then whenever we got his attention, it was short-lived, but on a slightly better note, he did apologize for the delay.
We ordered a 4-dish vegetarian platter with mushrooms (Kantischa), spinach (Hamli Spinat), red lentils (Tumtumo Brsen), and potato curry (Alicha) as well as Kulwa Berai (sautéed beef with peppers and onions in a tomato-based sauce), both served with injera. The vegetarian platter was all good and tasty, but I was hoping for more flavors with the beef dish.
I would probably go back on a less busy day.
