We ordered the appetizer for two, some spring rolls, fried scallops, and egg drop soup. The soup had barely any taste. I tried the fried scallops first and immediately spit it out. They were greasy and had the strangest taste. After that discovery, we each started on the appetizer for two. Everything fried was EXTREMELY greasy and had weirdest taste, just like the scallops. Inedible. We did order a canned soda each and they were cold and good, so there's that. Normally we order from Chen's Chinese Restaurant, but they were closed so we tried here. BIG mistake. Will never order from here again. Giving one star because a quarter of a star (for the cold sodas) we'd give isn't an option. read more

I went to China Wok for carry out. It's a small shop on a strip mall and across from Cinemark theater at Short Pump. Service was good: friendly and fast. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken. The portion was good with the right amount of rice. I liked the water chestnuts in the dish- a nice change and something a little different. Could have been a bit more spicy for me. What I didn't like was that the dish was overly salty to my taste. Price was very reasonable. I would try it China Wok again and hopefully will not be as salty. read more

Eggs rolls were amazing..... Service 10-15 minute wait... Now that the past my egg roll test going back for sesame chicken.

Stark contrast to the first time we ordered. Rather than everything seeming fresh, and crisp and plentiful, like our first order; we received 4 wontons in our wonton soup, undercooked general tso chicken, overcooked crab Rangoon, and underwhelming steamed dumplings. My family's silver lining "At least the rice was good". Hard to mess up white rice but, I guess... We will try them one more time, but fool me twice.... You're not gonna fool me again or whatever George Bush said! read more

Never seen Chinese food like this. They just have plain fried chicken pieces and you have to pour the sweet and sour sauce on it and it has no flavor. Mongolian beef had more than 3/4 full of onions. May as well call it Mongolian onions. Service was good. Think they mostly do takeout since there was literally nobody inside. Go to Cantonese Kitchen on West Broad. Much better food (I mean sooo much better) and they make real Chinese food read more

They have excellent food I had been here since they've been open. Food lunch specials.

I've been here many times since my initial review. I like their chicken lo mein lunch special. Their crab rangoon is so-so and overpriced. Today, they gave me the wrong order which I didn't discover until I got home. Not worth the time to go back and have them correct their mistake. (So, today was a 1 star experience). TIP: check your order before you leave with takeout. read more

Ordered a lunch general tso chicken. It came with rice, chicken, and an egg roll. Tasted quite good for a takeout place. Service was good and fast. I dislike how there was an online order fee, might have to call in next time. But besides that small downside, I will definitely come here again anytime I crave some quick Chinese food for lunch. read more

I just happened to be in Short pump and I wanted some Chinese food for lunch. This place had pretty good reviews so I decided to order takeout from here. Omg the egg rolls are the absolute best I regret not getting two. I got the Szechuan beef with brown rice and they give you so much food. I will definitely be eating the rest for dinner. read more

Awesome food! Great flavors! All the standard Chinese takeout dishes made to perfection!

Just a quickie: We've had takeout General Tso's chicken from here about half a dozen times. It's some of the best I've ever had. The chicken is tender, the sauce is flavorful with just the right spice, and it's always warm and comforting. My husband picks it up and he says it's nice and clean inside and the folks there are friendly. read more

Ordered for pickup for the first time eating here (my go-to Yu's China Bistro is closed on Monday's) and the food is just 'OK'. It's not great, it's not terrible. Also, didn't have a way when ordering through Yelp to specify or upgrade to fried rice. Won't be ordering from here again unless their food quality changes dramatically. read more

The crispy honey chicken is some of the best I have ever had. I order it every time I go and I make sure to get the fried rice instead of the white rice even though it cost a couple extra more dollars. The woman who works there is super friendly and very attentive and she always makes me feel welcome and at home every time I walk in. The place is actually very nice inside and very relaxing. read more

We stopped by on our way to Airport Holiday Inn Express. We ordered online with a phone app. The food was hot, delicious, and perfectly cooked. The staff was courteous and efficient. We can recommend the sushi, miso soup, Gen. Tso tofu and the chicken friend rice. Portions are generous. The restaurant was inviting in terms of ambiance and decor; eating in would have no doubt yielded the same pleasure. read more

The spring rolls are AMAZING! they have authentic vegetables inside and not the mushy noodle stuff that some places use. I also eat their Singapore noodles but i only eat chicken with mine. Those also taste really yummy here. The woman at the register was very kind. read more

We came to this restaurant after going to another place in the area (closed for renovations). We weren't sure if we were in the right place but, when we pulled around, we saw the name on the building. As we entered, something was nostalgic about it, making us think of an old school Chinese restaurant from the eighties or nineties. There was one guy working, and he was nice. We drank oolong tea and ordered. The food came out and less than 10 minutes piping hot and fresh. It looked and tasted amazing. I was glad the portions were large because I was able to take leftovers to enjoy in my hotel the next day. When I'm back in Richmond I will surely visit China wok. read more

This place is seriously awesome!!! They are clean, polite, and cook great takeout and dinner in food. They are a stickler for details and their service is great. We ordered shrimp fried rice and it was great! They make great noodles and egg rolls as well. I'll be ordering from them again today read more

"Good chines food. Low price. Service/ambience is equally good." Very low price but not compromise on taste and service. They don't have typical boil Chinese food, they stir it well. I tried chicken fried rice, momos and soup. All were good. The server was courteous enough to take care of things. Ambience is good too read more

I went for lunch and they had a lunch menu Whig I appreciate. The prices are reasonable. The food came a quick, hot and fresh

I just ordered food there 46.85 for triple delight 15.95 2 eight piece chicken wings 11.50 a piece and a 7$ tip for delivery of less than 2 miles was told 45mins to an hour, was here in 20 minutes, my food was barely warm ( triple delight) so my food was not freshly cooked when I called them back and told them what they had done to me they just sat on the phone and didn't say a word because they were busted for selling me old food sitting around then I told them I would not be giving them anymore of my business they still didn't say anything. China Wok is exactly what you'd expect for a local Chinese take-out place. They do offer a dining room but it's almost always empty and their take-out and delivery clearly drive the business. The food is good, not exceptional, and it's very reasonably priced. They're more than willing to customize the dishes to your liking. They are fast and friendly with their service. It is our go to for a quick Chinese meal. read more

This Was Our Go-To Chinese Restaurant Without A Close Runner Up By Far. That was until my husband found a roach in his food. It was literally cooked in, and not just from packaging. Hate that this happened, but we just can't take another risk. read more

Amazing food , good prices and really good service. One of the best Chinese restaurants near by I really recommend this place

I don't know how someone can rate this place bad. It serves your traditional Cantonese style Chinese Food Take Out. It is very close to my job and has become a favorite of mine and my co-workers to grab a quick lunch. Most recently we even sat inside and enjoyed our Chinese food. The service was good and the restaurant was clean. No muss no fuss. This not some fancy, black tie place so you may want to venture to P.F. Chang's at Stony Point Mall for the pomp and circumstance. This is where you go when you want extra MSG and calories. I have had the General Tso's chicken, Curry Chicken, and Beef and Broccoli. All delicious, standard take out cuisine. I have no complaints. Every time I have ordered my food is ready quickly and is always hot and fresh. I will be back soon to try out the Egg Foo Young and the Beef Lo Mein! read more

One of the best Chinese restaurants I've come across. We ordered the 5 taste shrimp, crisp honey shrimp and general tso chicken. We have enjoyed the food here for several years. (If you've been here for years, it is very similar to Chinese Express near the Christmas Tree shop location, which closed) The only Chinese food we order is from here now . Service is great . Try the Egg Foo Young and Moo Goo Gai Pan, egg rolls, spring rolls, spare ribs, soups - so many choices! All delicious! Delivery is within 30 minutes! read more

O.M.G. My boyfriend and I have tried several places in the far West End in the search for decent Chinese delivery: Asia Garden, City Lights of China and China Star. Blech! Disappointment! Friends, our search is over. This place is awesome! I measure the success of any Chinese place based on my all time favorite, Veg Lo Mein. If you screw up this simple dish, forget it. Close your doors. You suck at life. I was so relieved that China Wok, with reasonable prices, online ordering and fast delivery, made the grade with *FRESH* vegetables. Mushrooms, carrots, cabbage, baby corn, onions, broccoli and snap peas are all fresh, well seasoned and cut in uniform pieces so everything cooks evenly. My boyfriend likes the sesame beef which has a lovely crisp texture underneath a well balanced sauce that keeps you returning for another bite. We've ordered delivery 4 or 5 times so far and we will definitely keep ordering from China Wok! read more

Stopped in to grab my nephew his favorite dinner of orange chicken, rice and an egg roll. He loved it. Pretty much all Chinese tastes the same to me and nothing distinguishes this restaurant over any other, thus the 3 stars. read more

Very good for Chinese food take away. The orange chicken and wonton soup are delicious!

Great place for take-out/lunch specials. I've ordered here about 4 or 5 times. All but one have been at work for lunch specials. Recently, I ordered to go for my gf and I. We had one large (quart size) hot and sour soup, 1 regular chicken w/ broccoli, 1 regular chicken lo mein. Total for the three meals was $20.xx. At first glance, this place doesn't look like anything special. The food is really well priced and the quantity is enough to fill you up. My favorite thing about this run-of-the-mill Chinese place is the flavour. Out of all the little Chinese joints around town, this one has the best flavour and is consistently good! The hot and sour soup came out perfectly, the chicken w/ broccoli was an even ratio of chicken to broccoli and the brown sauce was delicious. In addition, the lo mein was perfectly flavoured. At most places, this is the greasiest of dishes - this one was not greasy at all and after eating my fill, I didn't feel grossed out. There was enough to go around for a second round and the hot and sour soup went down quick! If you order the lunch special, expect rice and a egg roll. The lunch specials are slightly smaller than the regular, BUT there is still enough for you to feel satisfied. My only gripe (which knocked off a star) is that when I was waiting in line to order, the lady that took my order spoke very little, broken English and I had to repeat my order 4 times before she understood I wanted chicken w/ broccoli. She kept repeating it saying BEEF w/ broccoli...Needless to say I double checked it before I left, but overall it was more pleasant experience than other local Chinese joints. If you've been debating on trying this one, please do! It will definitely be my new go-to Chinese place in the short pump area. read more

Best crab rangoons you'll find in the area, I'm telling you. If you like sweet crab rangoons, this is the place. If you've ever had Great Wok in Harrisonburg, their filling tastes exactly the same-- incredible! Not many places you'll find will have this type of Rangoon. read more

Delicious food,.. I think they are adding additional charges to our bill's? The food there is exceptional all but I won't stand for dishonest people. The lady who runs it is very sweet. I placed my order of Sesame chicken which they tell me comes with rice. And I ordered a egg roll as well. Chicken is 8.95 on the menu and the egg roll is about 2 bucks. When I went to sign for my check the total was 14.58! I asked to see the bill they flashed it to me and said, "The Tax is high here! I was too hungry to dispute the charge, but next time I go I'll ask for the total and see it in the recite be for I hand over my card. read more

I live in Henrico and this is HANDS DOWN my favorite chinese take-out in the area. I usually order dinner (General Tso's and Lo Mein usually) after I get home from work which is 9 p.m. They close at 10 p.m. on weekdays (11 p.m. on weekends) but my food has always arrived fresh even that close to closing time. It usually takes about 40 minutes for my food to get to me (which is advertised as 30-40 minutes so it's definitely accurate) so I always try to tip a little more to make up for the driver having to make a trip so close to closing. Other favorites of mine include the Sweet and Sour Chicken and the Fried Dumplings. read more
