I went to China Wok for carry out. It's a small shop on a strip mall and across from Cinemark theater at Short Pump. Service was good: friendly and fast. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken. The portion was good with the right amount of rice. I liked the water chestnuts in the dish- a nice change and something a little different. Could have been a bit more spicy for me. What I didn't like was that the dish was overly salty to my taste. Price was very reasonable. I would try it China Wok again and hopefully will not be as salty. read more

Stark contrast to the first time we ordered. Rather than everything seeming fresh, and crisp and plentiful, like our first order; we received 4 wontons in our wonton soup, undercooked general tso chicken, overcooked crab Rangoon, and underwhelming steamed dumplings. My family's silver lining "At least the rice was good". Hard to mess up white rice but, I guess... We will try them one more time, but fool me twice.... Never seen Chinese food like this. They just have plain fried chicken pieces and you have to pour the sweet and sour sauce on it and it has no flavor. Mongolian beef had more than 3/4 full of onions. May as well call it Mongolian onions. Service was good. Think they mostly do takeout since there was literally nobody inside. Go to Cantonese Kitchen on West Broad. I've been here many times since my initial review. I like their chicken lo mein lunch special. Their crab rangoon is so-so and overpriced. Today, they gave me the wrong order which I didn't discover until I got home. Not worth the time to go back and have them correct their mistake. (So, today was a 1 star experience). Ordered a lunch general tso chicken. It came with rice,chicken, and an egg roll. Tasted quite good for a takeout place. Service was good and fast. We stopped by on our way to Airport Holiday Inn Express. We ordered online with a phone app. The food was hot, delicious, and perfectly cooked. The staff was courteous and efficient. We can recommend the sushi, miso soup, Gen. Tso tofu and the chicken friend rice. Portions are generous. I just ordered food there 46.85 for triple delight 15.95 2 eight piece chicken wings 11.50 a piece and a 7$ tip for delivery of less than 2 miles was told 45mins to an hour,was here in 20 minutes, my food was barely warm ( triple delight) so my food was not freshly cooked when I called them back and told them what they had done to me they just sat on the phone and didn't say a word because they were busted for selling me old food sitting around then I told them I would not be giving them anymore of my business they still didn't say anything. We came to this restaurant after going to another place in the area (closed for renovations). We weren't sure if we were in the right place but, when we pulled around, we saw the name on the building. As we entered, something was nostalgic about it, making us think of an old school Chinese restaurant from the eighties or nineties. There was one guy working, and he was nice. We drank oolong tea and ordered. The food came out and less than 10 minutes piping hot and fresh. It looked and tasted amazing. I was glad the portions were large because I was able to take leftovers to enjoy in my hotel the next day. When I'm back in Richmond I will surely visit China wok. read more

I don't know how someone can rate this place bad. It serves your traditional Cantonese style Chinese Food Take Out. It is very close to my job and has become a favorite of mine and my co-workers to grab a quick lunch. Most recently we even sat inside and enjoyed our Chinese food. The service was good and the restaurant was clean. No muss no fuss.This not some fancy, black tie place so you may want to venture to P.F. Chang's at Stony Point Mall for the pomp and circumstance. This is where you go when you want extra MSG and calories. I have had the General Tso's chicken, Curry Chicken, and Beef and Broccoli. All delicious, standard take out cuisine. I have no complaints. Mushrooms, carrots, cabbage, baby corn, onions, broccoli and snap peas are all fresh, well seasoned and cut in uniform pieces so everything cooks evenly. Great place for take-out/lunch specials. I've ordered here about 4 or 5 times. All but one have been at work for lunch specials. Recently, I ordered to go for my gf and I. We had one large (quart size) hot and sour soup, 1 regular chicken w/ broccoli, 1 regular chicken lo mein. Total for the three meals was $20.xx. At first glance, this place doesn't look like anything special. The food is really well priced and the quantity is enough to fill you up. My favorite thing about this run-of-the-mill Chinese place is the flavour. Out of all the little Chinese joints around town, this one has the best flavour and is consistently good! The hot and sour soup came out perfectly, the chicken w/ broccoli was an even ratio of chicken to broccoli and the brown sauce was delicious. In addition, the lo mein was perfectly flavoured. At most places, this is the greasiest of dishes - this one was not greasy at all and after eating my fill, I didn't feel grossed out. There was enough to go around for a second round and the hot and sour soup went down quick! If you order the lunch special, expect rice and a egg roll. The lunch specials are slightly smaller than the regular, BUT there is still enough for you to feel satisfied. My only gripe (which knocked off a star) is that when I was waiting in line to order, the lady that took my order spoke very little, broken English and I had to repeat my order 4 times before she understood I wanted chicken w/ broccoli. She kept repeating it saying BEEF w/ broccoli...Needless to say I double checked it before I left, but overall it was more pleasant experience than other local Chinese joints. I placed my order of Sesame chicken which they tell me comes with rice. And I ordered a egg roll as well. Chicken is 8.95 on the menu and the egg roll is about 2 bucks. When I went to sign for my check the total was 14.58! I asked to see the bill they flashed it to me and said, "The Tax is high here! I live in Henrico and this is HANDS DOWN my favorite chinese take-out in the area. I usually order dinner (General Tso's and Lo Mein usually) after I get home from work which is 9 p.m. They close at 10 p.m. on weekdays (11 p.m. on weekends) but my food has always arrived fresh even that close to closing time. It usually takes about 40 minutes for my food to get to me (which is advertised as 30-40 minutes so it's definitely accurate) so I always try to tip a little more to make up for the driver having to make a trip so close to closing.
