I am gluten-free. I always order white sauce on my food. Soy sauce is made from wheat. I ask for reg white rice and have never been disappointed. I always tap in a short note when I order online. Explaining what I need. They have the best chicken and vegetables. Loaded with chicken and every kind of vegetables they have. My go to.and always yummy. My spouse loves their combo meals. This place is really good. I'm picky about Chinese food and since moving south I hadn't found a place where I consistently liked the menu. The staff is kind and friendly and I really enjoyed everything I got. I went there pretty late at night, shortly before they close and I was happy that they're located in a well lit shopping center and not some sketchy location in the middle of all the crime in Fayetteville. Love this place. Used to love their egg rolls but not anymore, only reason I left a 4. They used to make and roll their own, now they use frozen. The old ones reminded me of the ones I used to get as a kid at the place we use to frequent. I miss the egg rolls they use to have. read more

It is okay food. I find the rice to be pretty plain and the crab rangoons are mostly cream cheese. There's not a lot of competition in the area though, and it'll do. They do take covid precautions very seriously which is great. read more

The chicken was very good. I asked if they could make it mild (it was supposed to be spicy) and they did without sacrificing any flavor. China Star isn't a bad joint. You have to keep in perspective what it is. When I go there, it's because China Star is close and I want something that tastes good late at night. There's not a lot of options in that area during the evening. Considering that China Star makes solid food but it takes a while, just go in and order something, do your grocery shopping next door and when you are done the food will be ready. It's just a local Chinese food place, not a 5 star restaurant. It beats the heck out of a TV dinner and it isn't that much. If you are having trouble deciding, China Star won't do you wrong. This is our first Chinese experience here in Lillington, so with nothing to compare it to, I will give it a 3/5 stars and return later if need be. This was a quick stop for my husband after a disastrous meal at Hilltop House in Fayetteville (see my review) left him starving. They were open until 10:30 at night, and our food was prepared to order. The fortune cookies were stale, but since we generally only open them for the fortune, I won't count it against them. I like the fact they offer family style meals (pick three entrees, rice, egg rolls, etc) all served in large buffet tins at a reasonable price. they have a bunch of different sizes and styles. read more

The food is fine, I've gotten from here twice. Don't expect NYC chinese from anywhere around here, but this will do, I liked it much better than other places I've tried. I really just wanted to leave this review to praise their efforts during this Covid19 situation. Employees inside all wearing masks and gloves, and they've created a good plexiglass window pickup system that really minimizes contact. You do still have to sign the receipt, but bring your own pen and you're good to go. read more

I don't ever say this but this would be a zero star review if it could be. I love Chinese food and live near here but normally go somewhere else cause I'm in Sanford a lot. I went here Wednesday night and got take out. Sweet and Sour Chicken cause I wasn't feeling super adventurous. I ate the food and it tasted okay but later that night I got violently ill. It was the only thing I had eaten recently so it had to be that. Just awful. That made me super sick and I'm extremely disappointed. The next day was Thanksgiving and I didn't feel good all day. I went here for a quick order of crab rangoons. I got there and placed my order and asked how long it would take. The gentleman told me that it would take ten minutes. I went next door to the Food Lion and stayed a good 5-7 minutes. I got back to the restaurant, and when I walked in, the lady who took my order told the gentleman who was cooking to make my food. Mind you, 5-7 minutes had passed since I actually ordered, and the restaurant was not busy at all. Then, when my food was finally done, the lady gave it to me, and I said, "Thank you." She said NOTHING. I said, "THANK YOU!" again, louder, and she looked at me and finally mumbled something resembling "you're welcome". I got to my destination and opened the food, and it was terrible. Every other Chinese restaurant I have ever been to has crab rangoons filled with crab meat (or imitation crab meat) and cream cheese. These had a little bit of crab meat and they were mostly filled with rubbery, cheap-tasting, stringy cheese. I only ate two bites and had to throw the rest away. Never again. read more
