My updated review unfortunately they have gone down hill. I dont know if it was Just a different chef or some thing but we got take out about a month ago and it was horrible . The crab rangoons were mushy and the sesame chicken was tough and un edible. Only giving two stars cause the shrimp rolls and fried rice was good. Food was cold and unedible and I live right on the same street . I hate giving bad reviews but I was extremely disappointed in them. Hopefully it was just a glitch cause it was really convenient to my house and the lady was really nice but I there are other Chinese restaurants that are worth the drive. read more

Don't bother. It was our first and last time trying this place. Total waste of money and menu does NOT reflect what is really in the dish. We tried to confirm the ingredients in four dishes and none were what was stated on the menu. The response we got was that even though it was not what is stated on their menu "everyone knows what we put in this dish". read more

I have a go-to Chinese place in Carolina Shores that I really like, but on a whim I decided to try someplace new. So I went down the street to China King hopping get some good Chinese carry out. Unfortunately, it was not the experience I'd hoped for. I ordered the chicken with garlic sauce combo, but substituted lo mein noodles and a shrimp eggroll for their standards. I also added some egg drop wonton soup. The egg roll had good flavor, but after two bites realized there was really no shrimp in it. I came across two small shrimp, but the interior was primarily just cabbage so I didn't finish it. The egg drop wonton soup was good. It had nice flavor and the wontons were cooked right. The chicken with garlic sauce was disappointing. It actually had pretty good flavor but both the lo mein noodles and the chicken seemed soft and way overcooked. The vegetables were not crunchy like I had hoped either. To add insult to injury, there was no fortune cookie included with the meal, so I have no idea what the outlook is for me after eating here. No guidance to make it through the weekend The staff was friendly, but very busy. I will probably stick with my go to place in the future. read more

I love this place. Everything is always great- if you actually want good tasting Chinese this place and the one in calabash beside the food lion are the best 2. read more

I had written a glowing review 3 years ago. Now, not so much. I was told while picking up my $9 lunch special there is now a $15 minimum. The food has changed too. Carrots instead of mushrooms in the Kung Pao. Raw onions in the rice. I will find another place. read more

Ordered take out from here as it's all they do and the food was delish! I am so partial to one other place for Chinese and this was very comparable. I tired the egg foo young with shrimp and the serving was large and plenty for two. They served yellow vs white or brown rice as the version of fried rice. I prefer traditional over this way. We also tried the steamed dumplings and they were flavorful and good. Everyone in my group loved their dinner and we all have enough for another meal left. Service was quick and the location iis convenient. read more

I have been coming here for over 2 years. I have never been disappointed. The place is basically takeout but they do have several tables where you can eat in. I usually get shrimp Lo Mein but I have tried several other dishes like beef with mushrooms. Their price are fairly reasonable. I totally recommend eating here plus the staff is very nice and friendly. read more

Food is typically very good... but service during busy times is terrible - very disorganized with no pick-up system in place. Just called in a New Year's Eve order which they lost after I waited 1.5 hours including call in time. read more

Good was great. Service was good and it was definitely busy. Will definitely be going here since the bridge is closed and this is a lot closer for a quick bite to eat. We had the vegetable fried rice, crab Rangoon, and the general tso chicken. read more

Went to restaurant for first time. Woman behind counter ignored me and took several phone orders while I stood at window. She asked me if i was picking up an order. I told her no i wanted to place a order. I told her what i wanted and she looked at take out orders and told me it wasn't ready!! I said no i wanted to place a new order. She walked away from me and never came back. read more

Ordered takeout last night and everything was fantastic. The egg drop wonton soup was delicious, and steamed dumplings were meaty and filling. The egg foo young had a nice crispy edge and the beef and mushroom tender and flavorful. read more

Food: consistently good Service: fine Portion size is decent. Food quality is great. Chicken and beef are tender. Shrimp is a good size and not tiny at all. It's the best Chinese food option we've found in the area and has become a regular go to for nights we're exhausted and just want to watch TV with darn good Chinese food. read more

Was hard to find a good takeout place in the area but we finally found China King. Easy to order and pick up. Food is very good. Try the egg foo young and the egg rolls. Love the combos; great choices! read more

They have excellent food. They food taste fresh. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Great food and convenient to my home. Full menu. Food is always freshly made. Very pleased

Decent average Chinese take-out. Updated pics with menu since previous menus were outdated with items no longer available (ie shrimp toast). Egg rolls were average; other food ordered was fine. read more

There's not a lot of choices for Chinese food around here. It's not the best, so that's why I gave it 4 stars. It did satisfy our desire for Chinese food. We got the chicken & broccoli, shrimp egg rolls, (which are hugh), wonton soup (didn't like the meat in the wonton)...next time I'll try egg drop soup. We placed an order inside and it wasn't ready in no time! The girl taking the order was nice. It's nothing fancy inside, but appeared to be clean. read more

Ordered a luncheon plate and hot and sour soup; both were very good and soup had plenty of veggies to enjoy. Will come back

China King - three take out containers of food on a table - Chinese Near Me - Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina

I would recommend this take out spot, not the tastiest Chinese food I've ever had but not too bad either. I ordered General Tso's my favorite, the dish was tasty, but the chicken could have been a whole lot more tender. I was a NY Chef / Cook years ago for 14 years, so I consider myself a bit of of a fussy food critic .. friendly service, generous servings and very fair prices considering the inflation that we are in... PS unlike some of the other reviews No one was unfriendly or rude.. read more

This spot is kind and welcoming to my boyfriend and I. Each time we visit they're busy but able to prepare and serve us delicious food with a smile. I love eating here so much read more

Honestly for the price this place is pretty good! We got steamed dumpling and crab Rangoons and they were so yummy!

The food and service is excellent! I've ordered take-out several times and every time it has been outstanding!

I work close by and I am there often fir a quick bite! The plain low mein add extra spicy and a touch of soy- yummy! And I absolutely love their spring rolls! Bigger than most places- ask for the dumpling sauce for dipping, you will most definitely thank me later! I saw complaints on these saying all veggie- um- well thats exactly what it is- a veggie spring roll- get an egg roll if you want meats! The workers are super friendly and this place stays busy! Really good food! read more

One star is a stretch. This place has no redeeming qualities. You're better off staying home, flushing your money down the toilet and eating crackers. I wish I had. It's gross. read more

I love take out, but this was the worst food I've had ina long time. I got a combo plate the rice was dry it was loaded with hard to eat carrots and very little chicken and no sauce and over the top amount of peanuts. read more

First time visit. Ordered takeout. Food was excellent. Large portions. Reasonably priced. Definitely will be back.

The food is good the person who took are the not get 100% correct but what we got was ok. The Fried Rice could of use more seasoning. Soup was good. read more

Wow! This place surprised us, and not in a good way. We ordered the vegetable spring rolls, fried dumplings, chicken Lo mein, Seafood delight and Pepper steak w. Onion. Not bad: Fried dumplings Passable: Chicken Lo mein Not good: Seafood delight, scallops are clearly punched skate and crab is fake and very obviously so (shrimp was OK, we hope lol) Unacceptable: Vegetable Soring rolls, could not be more bland.. nothing but cabbage. WTF: Pepper "steak" w. Onions.. where do I begin? I don't know what this is supposed to be, definitely not the consistency meat should be, I don't even want to start imagining what it is. Unhonorable mention: fried rice. It's yellow!! And has no vegetables in it, or anything else. I didn't dare try it. My husband told me it tastes like the color orange. read more

This is probably the best Chinese takeout place, I have ever been to!! The food is always good and on time. I had the Broccoli w. Garlic and it was fabulous. This is where I will go for Chinese from now on!!! It's just that good!! read more

I was extremely disappointed in our meal. I don't think there was a single item that wasn't overcooked, some of the items were so bad they were inedible. Also, I do understand fried food but when there is more breading than there is shrimp, they've gone too far. Don't waste your time or money read more

Here on vacation, we got a hankering for regular old takeout Chinese food. You know the kind: light up picture menu over the counter, folded paper menu, Lucky Cat statue on the counter, kitchen visible behind the person taking your order. China King did not disappoint. My wife and I shared an orange chicken combination plate. The pork fried rice was great. The chicken could have been a little crispier, but that's just my preference. Good food, good price. It was just what we were looking for. read more

We have been very happy with China King. The food is good and the service is very courteous.

This place has gone downhill....back in February we noticed the honey chicken not as good as it was before, today I found out new owners....cousins of the people that used to own it bought it. Instead of having food in the standard Chinse food containers just about everything is in Styrofoam containers which steams the food inside the containers and makes everything rubbery., also the Styrofoam is bad for the environment. If this Chinese place plans to stay in business, they need to go back to the basics of the previous owners. We are most likely done with this place. read more

Definitely recommend this store front Chinese restaurant! We always order take out but we see many diners eating lunch in. The food is always fresh & tasty! Giving it only 4 stars because the egg rolls seem a bit greasy... suppose they should be, but we're not a fan of them! read more

The food here is delicious and we will definitely be eating here regularly. We're so happy to have found a great Chinese take-out restaurant nearby. read more

Based on prior experience, I didn't have very lofty expectations for finding good vegetarian food in Ocean Isle. I gave China King a try expecting to settle for fried rice but their tofu options were great! The food is tasty, generous and relatively cheap. I will be eating here regularly on future visits to Ocean Isle! read more

Stopped for the first time. Got turned off by the filthy windows. Not a good sign of cleanliness.

New to the area stopped in to bring home food. Overcooked and undercooked tells the story. The chicken in the chow mien was pink my wife said I said maybe it was just a seasoning so I cut a piece and put it in my mouth, do not ever want the texture of raw chicken in my mouth again. The shrimp toast was a new dish for me blackened crust tasted like charcoal overwhelming the mush inside. Fried shrimp were fried beyond death and how do you butterfly shrimp without deveining them. If you pay attention to what your doing these problems can be fixed. We did throw away the take out menu with the food. read more
