Oh my god, that was the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten in all my life. I had to go to Lucky's to get some crackers to get the taste of that vile food out of my mouth. I ordered Wor Wonton Soup. The broth was the best part and it wasn't great, just sort of edible. The wontons had clearly been poured out of some frozen bag of cheap wontons that had no filling and they were gummy and inedible -- and they had NO FILLING - just gummy undercooked dough. There were veggies that had been tossed in without cooking them - raw veggies - just "in there". Then there were pieces of scary meat. There was beef that was both slimy and tough at the same time. Didn't eat it. There was chicken that tasted off and scary and it had a weird color. Then there were pork slices that were dyed pink at the edges. Toughest pork ever and had no seasoning. It was dyed to look like it was Char sui pork, but it wasn't Char Sui. I know Char Sui, I have cooked Char Sui Pork. This was not Char Sui Pork - this was a bad tough cut of meat that was dyed pink at the edges. I have no problem cooking cheap cuts of meat, but you have to cook tough meat low and slow with spices to get it to be nice. That did not happen here. Spent $50 tonight on the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. Got two different dishes that were exactly the same. Nothing but water chestnuts, celery, small amount of chicken and a runny spicy sauce. It was supposed to be schezuan chicken and ginger chicken. The orange chicken tasted really weird (weird texture and taste) and the broccoli beef lacked flavor of any kind. The only good thing was the cream cheese wontons. Had a quick lunch takeout, ordered the number one special of veggie chow mein and veggie fried rice with an egg roll as well as sweet and sour pork with fried rice and noodles. The food was good as expected, unfortunately, the sauce from the pork drenched the entire to-go bag's contents. It was poor placing of the order of the containers into the bag, where the leaking one was placed on top. However, no big deal, just irritating and no reflection on the quality of the food here. Today we ordered Mongolian Beef, and Mu Shu Pork. Husband says beef had no spice at all. Mu Shu Pork: I asked for fried rice instead of white rice. I asked for the pancakes that go with the dish. (Did not receive the pancakes). "Yes, yes, they come with the pancakes". Called the diner, asked about the pancakes, was told that I could have had either fried rice or the pancakes. Asked her why she didn't say so, asked for both, would've paid for both. Have never heard of that in any Chinese restaurant. The wontons w/cream cheese came w/o the cheese. Asked for sweet red sauce and mustard sauce (I like to mix them) for the wontons. Both condiments tasted spoiled. The pot stickers were heavily laden with outside flour. Have not tasted the hot and sour soup yet. Spent over $50 w/tip; never again. Hope we don't get sick. read more

Ever since Rong left the quality of the entire restaurant has gone downhill, she ran a tight ship with high quality food fed me like I was her kid and was never disappointed with any of her dishes. At first I figured it was due to the pandemic but no, from pre charred vege's to chicken pieces that seemed to have been flash fried in oil just so they could get your order out in 5 mins. Compared to Rong where all the vege's were fresh as well as the chicken or any other meats fresh also, she made great soups, rice bowls, combo meals and the proportions were huge. Unfortunately she had to deal with a backer who was never satisfied causing her to be stressed. Never understood his issues since the place was always busy and the food and atmosphere was great. I get the feeling the workers took over and they just don't care about any of it. There are a few other places to get Asian food but Ukiah and Mendocino County are in need of a quality Asian restaurant, it's not like there aren't enough people to support one. read more

Easily my favorite Chinese food in town! I know that people in the past have disagreed with me, which I'm pretty sure is based on the fact that it's not a sit down restaurant per se. However, there is dine in seating which is very Spartan but what one would expect from such a small location. The staff has always been excellent and accurate with my orders. The food has always been wonderful and the quality always consistent. This selection of items is exactly as it should be for the type of restaurant that it is. If you're looking for take out, I highly recommend China diner. Of course, my review would not be complete without mentioning the amazing chow mein that they make which features garlic! This is the best Chinese food I've had in the Ukiah area. It was inexpensive and very quick. I had the Chicken Chow Mein. Usually I do not like chicken from Chinese restaurants because it has a weird taste to it, but this chicken tasted great. I also had the hot and sour soup. And they do that right as well. I wish the cup they served was just a little bigger. It is a little dingy when you first get in there, but the food definitely compensates for that. read more

I did not have any high expectations coming into a little diner for a late night dinner but I was not satisfied in the least bit. The menu has a lot of options which may be useful to some but I found it overwhelming and confusing. The food was affordable but it was not good. I ordered the sweet and sour pork. It came with chow mein and rice. There was barely any chicken, just large fried pieces with a sugary flavorless red sauce. The chow mein and rice was very bland. the rice was almost soggy. I got fried rice with 4 tiny strips of dry chicken over it and 2 pieces of broccoli.. the chicken looked like it was defrosted and cooked in a microwave and the fried rice was out of a frozen cheap tv dinner, and cost me $10! But I added a star back because they have a remote control WRAPPED IN PLASTIC WRAP and that is SO incredibly asian!! It makes me LOL every time I see the poor thing. I was next in line and I was about to order my food when a customer behind me was asked by some lady not even at the register if she was there for pick up and she basically crowded me and the lady took over the register and charged the other customer for her order.
