After watching a movie, we were looking for a late night spot to grab some dinner. We walked up…read moreCuba Street and eventually settled on Top Kitchen. They're one of those Chinese places that do ALL the Asian cuisines (Singaporean, Malaysian, Szechuan, etc.). We dropped in on a Sunday evening (around 9:15pm). The place surprisingly had people in it along with several others that grabbed takeout. The food comes out lightning quick! The menu is huge; entrees, soup, BBQ dishes, soup, hot plate, meats (chicken, pork, beef & lamb), vegetables & tofu, rice, fried rice, fried noodle and noodle/soup. Like I said, typical massive menu. - Beef tendon hot & sour noodle soup (N.7) ($12.90 NZD) - this was the best dish. The hot & sour soup had a nice kick to it. Bits of chili flakes. The cellophane/clear noodles had a great bite to them. There was a few peanuts and cilantro thrown in too. Beef was a tad dry. - Singaporean fried vermicelli (M.12) ($12.90 NZD) - it doesn't look like your typical Singaporean noodle dish but the flavour was pretty close. Only bad thing was the amount of MSG in this dish. Way too salty. Totally unnecessary as the wok hei was there. - Szechuan style chicken with vegetables (F.11) ($15.80 NZD) - I wouldn't necessarily call this Szechuan style (no heat or numbness to it) but it was tasty. Good mix of vegetables including broccoli, cauliflower, wood ear and button mushrooms, zucchini, onion and carrots. Chicken was tender. Solid but pretty standard dish. Too many types of Asian dishes on the menu but I was a fan of the noodle soup.

Get number 3 on the menu!! Roast duck with noodles. Amazing…read more Savory and not too salty/flavord. Just right.
