Upstairs has three rooms for seating. The wait was about 15 mins but you knew it would be worth the wait because those in line were locals! We enjoyed the chicken fried rice salad and drinks. I had no trouble being served gluten free. We decided to go back today and try a different dish but the place was closed with a sign saying go across the street for chicken. ‍. From the minute you walk in, you are greeted with warmth and genuine care. We started off with the croquettes and then ordered the rib eye to share with a side of the chorizo rice. The croquettes were amazing and flavorful. The rib eye was phenomenal!! Our server sliced it for us and plated the slices on our plate. It was very well seasoned. The chorizo rice comes in a cast iron skillet and was delicious as well! For dessert we went with the recommendation for the salted caramel pie. This was one of the best desserts I have had in a long time. It was so good and a must have for dessert! I absolutely loved my experience at Bota&Bira from the quality of the food to the amazing hospitality we received. It is a Porto staple and I highly recommend this restaurant, especially for meat lovers!

We ordered a pitcher of sangria; he recommended the special which was light and refreshing. Delicious! The pictures show everything we ordered and there was not a single disappointment in the bunch. One note, the white fish and rose shrimp crude is a cold dish; very light, refreshing and full of flavor. As we were about to order dessert, we saw them serve the smoked salmon to another table and since more than one of us had been eyeing it, we ordered one. So glad we did. All the desserts were perfect. We also had a nice white wine and a pair of old fashioneds to round out the meal. This is still located within walking distance to all of the sites but not too crowded. It's a small restaurant with 2 levels of seating. We ate there twice in the 3 days we were in Porto. For dinnertime, it's best to make a reservation because it gets busy and I witnessed them having to tell people they only had 1-2 tables available until a certain time. The food is fresh, organic and vegan! They have burgers, bowls, sandwiches, ramen, vegan meats, etc. We also tried several desserts and each one was delicious, especially the cheesecake! The service was good and friendly. The price is on par to what you would pay in some vegan restaurants in the States.
