They will let you sample any flavor if you want to try one. As for the ice cream, it is smooth, rich, and delicious and comes in a variety of unique flavors. They have all the staples including chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, but the rotating-unique flavors are where the real fun is. I am a fan of the chocolate mudslide and the cappuccino and my wife likes anything loaded with chocolate and peanut butter. Most of the time, I order a milkshake, but sometimes there is nothing like the hot and cold combination of cinnamon-vanilla ice cream on an apple dumpling. It is important to note that Bruster's is an outdoor counter-service ice cream shop and the lines can get long during peak season, but the wait is worth it. There is some limited seating to the side of the building featuring red benches and umbrellaed tables. All of these features make this place an ideal summertime stop. With the name of Delicia's Gourmet Ice, the business is a mobile Water Ice Company with a healthy alternative to traditional summertime frozen treats. The Tuckers started this business several years ago on a street corner with two coolers in the back of a Hyundai, with a simple plan: "That a friendly smile and great product would eventually succeed." Their product is a healthy, creamy and delicious Water Ice that is dairy, egg, and gluten-free. Their slogan for their delicious frozen treat is "It's not ice cream, just good ice," and their motto is: "We create smiles." They currently rotate 15 different flavors with some of the favorites flavors being Mango, Rainbow, Cherry, and Tye Dye. They also offer two sugar-free flavors, Lemon and Cherry. It was not easy to find them. Their phone number was answered by a machine asking you to leave a message. I sent them an email and luckily received a replay from Delicia telling me that their truck will be at the Food Lion parking lot on Shenandoah & Peters Creek today from 4 until dusk (8PM). I found out that the best way to find out where they will be next is to visit their Facebook or Instagram. As I arrived in my pearl white Lexus to the Food Lion parking lot, I felt a relief when I saw this little blue box trailer with Teano inside. He was a friendly gentleman with a true entrepreneurial spirit. We talked for a while and I ordered a small Mango Gourmet Ice. It had the taste and smooth, cold, creamy texture of ice cream, but was dairy free, gluten free, and kosher certified. While I was there several customers came by. A young gentleman, a group of young girls, a middle-aged lady, and a mother and her son. To let people know he was there he had a speaker that played loud music from his cellphone music collection. Once the customers arrived he turned off the music and served them. If a customer was a dollar short he let them have the gourmet ice. "How could you deny a kid an ice," he told me. My small Mango Gourmet Ice was $3 and I gave him a 5 dollar bill telling him to keep the change as a tip. Most of their business is private events. They do private events like birthdays, graduation parties, family reunions, company parties, and fundraisers, among others. Through perseverance and hard work their reputation has spread by word of month and they have been invited to fairs and public events like 4th of July celebrations. Considering how hot it was today, this outing hit the spot. The service was excellent, and the owner (I presume) was pleasant and cheerful. As you well know "Frozen Custard is more creamy and flavorful on the palate since it's not as cold as ice cream. It also has a higher content of egg yolks and butter fat". For ten years she has been sharing this information with her customers, who she also considers as friends, through her amazingly delicious Frozen Custard. When we arrived to the trailer on a bright and windy sunny day, Keller quickly opened the window of the trailer and welcomed us with a warm greeting and a big smile. You could immediately tell that she was a people person and had a delightful personality. She genuinely enjoyed talking with us about her business. The business has also provided a means of her spending time with her twins - daughter Jordan and son, Noah - who have both joined her in the stand, as well as some of their friends. This and the people she interacts with daily have been one of the best things about having the custard stand. On the side of the trailer, she has posted several sheets of menus with an amazing variety of ways we can order her frozen custard. Since it was our first time there we both ordered a Vanilla Chocolate Twist in a Large Waffle Cone. Since it was extremely windy and somewhat cold, we ate the custards standing up next to the trailer. They we amazingly delicious: very soft and creamy. We looked forward to returning when the weather gets nicer and have another custard with more things on it, sitting at one of the tables with umbrellas provided in the area. I highly recommend this Frozen Custard Stand. And it seems they do Birthday Parties and Sports Banquets because they had a sign on one of the walls to this effect, as well as Sports League pictures. I went with a friend of mine after visiting the Roanoke Roanoke Antique Mall, which is the largest Antique Store in the area. Two young ladies employees treated us with a smile and took our order behind the counter. They graciously allowed me to try out two flavors that I was undecided on, with tiny Spoons. My friend had a scoop of Bourbon Truffle ice cream in a waffle cone and I had a scoop of Peanut Butter Twist ice cream also in a waffle cone. She suggested that next time I should try their pork barbecue. Another customer was also having the pork barbecue and also recommended it. When my milkshake was ready, I started drinking it with a thin straw the lady gave me, but it was so thick that I recommended she get thicker straws next time, but it was so good that I took the lid off and ended up drinking the cold and delicious milkshake.
