The only food disappointment was the naan bread which was small and not a patch on many of the offerings in Greater Manchester (including the excellent standard at southern stalwarts Blue Nile and Purple Pakora). Drinks wise they do a little bottle of prosecco for I think £4.95 which is good value considering it's basically 2 small glasses. Overall a good neighbourhood curry house, not one to travel to but if you're in the Heatons a safe bet and conveniently located across the road from Bottle!

Amazingly good portions in the style of Dickensian over indulgence :-) Too much cinnamon in the gravy but beautiful and a better portion of turkey than I'm allowed to take at home without being told off for being greedy or having someone else's share ;-) Wine was aimed at either drunk people or people who love the cheapest fruitiest Liebfraumilch but we were given complimentary shorts of our choice when we left the carafe. Great at self promotion through food that tastes unique and a homely feel which loyal regulars rave about ! Well organised nice atmosphere and clearly these guys use their own personalities at your table ie ' I recommend Sammi's platter for starters ... I'm Sammi by the way ! ' My curry was fragrant and aromatic ... Well worth another visit ..

I have to give a shout out to Last Monsoon in Stockport because to me it's a shining example of…read morejust how good Bangladeshi cuisine can be. Alongside some more run-of-the-mill choices you'll find exotic choices like Satkori Lamb (highly flavoured spices with shatkora fruit) and Bengal Sil-Sila (chicken or Lamb tikka medium strength cooked with spices garlic ginger cumin seeds andsweet pumpkin) and there's even steak for those who don't want spice. The venue itself is nothing to write home about, but it's comfortable and modern enough and the staff are very helpful and friendly. With most dishes weighing in at around £5.95, this is quality at a price you can't beat. Get yourself down there if you're local (and even if you're not).

As for the mains, we got the garlic chicken chilli massala and the Bengal Sil Silla. The latter was great, it was hotter than I expected and had a lovely rich flavour. The former was a lot milder and didn't really taste of much. The special tandoori platter was nice although we were a bit full by that point - it was maybe a little drier than the excellent one I had at the Purple Pakora. If I hadn't over-ordered by getting that, it would have been £10 a head which is good value for the amount of food. Delivery was a little slow and then the driver had problems finding the house so if you're mega hungry go and collect!

I didn't feel rushed though, and bf loved the immediate arrival of beer to his hand. Food wise, I was tempted by a few things on this interesting Bangladeshi menu and got some helpful and decisive advice from the waiter. In the end I want for the chicken thawa which wasn't particularly unusual in flavour (I chickened out of the satkora fruit option which I will get next time) but very well done and a very generous portion. I thought the aloo gobi was the best I've had in ages. We also tried onion bhajis and I would say Blue Nile is slightly beaten out by Stockport rival Last Monsoon in terms of flavour and crispiness. Bf had lamb handi which he really enjoyed - the meat was tender and not at all stringy or dry. Definitely recommend if you like lamb. As above service is very good and it's a nice restaurant with some cool tropical fish tanks in the walls. Kind of reminds me of the Purple Pakora in Poynton. Overall this is yet another good restaurant in the independent Hazel Grove scene (we commented on Friday that the chains have not moved in here, which is maybe why there is such diversity and quality) and I will be sure to come back.
