I didn't feel rushed though, and bf loved the immediate arrival of beer to his hand. Food wise, I was tempted by a few things on this interesting Bangladeshi menu and got some helpful and decisive advice from the waiter. In the end I want for the chicken thawa which wasn't particularly unusual in flavour (I chickened out of the satkora fruit option which I will get next time) but very well done and a very generous portion. I thought the aloo gobi was the best I've had in ages. We also tried onion bhajis and I would say Blue Nile is slightly beaten out by Stockport rival Last Monsoon in terms of flavour and crispiness. Bf had lamb handi which he really enjoyed - the meat was tender and not at all stringy or dry. Definitely recommend if you like lamb. As above service is very good and it's a nice restaurant with some cool tropical fish tanks in the walls. Kind of reminds me of the Purple Pakora in Poynton. Overall this is yet another good restaurant in the independent Hazel Grove scene (we commented on Friday that the chains have not moved in here, which is maybe why there is such diversity and quality) and I will be sure to come back.

The only food disappointment was the naan bread which was small and not a patch on many of the offerings in Greater Manchester (including the excellent standard at southern stalwarts Blue Nile and Purple Pakora). Drinks wise they do a little bottle of prosecco for I think £4.95 which is good value considering it's basically 2 small glasses. Overall a good neighbourhood curry house, not one to travel to but if you're in the Heatons a safe bet and conveniently located across the road from Bottle!

Christmas dinner at an Indian NOT ETHIOPIAN restaurant …read more.. Amazingly good portions in the style of Dickensian over indulgence :-) Too much cinnamon in the gravy but beautiful and a better portion of turkey than I'm allowed to take at home without being told off for being greedy or having someone else's share ;-) Wine was aimed at either drunk people or people who love the cheapest fruitiest Liebfraumilch but we were given complimentary shorts of our choice when we left the carafe. Great at self promotion through food that tastes unique and a homely feel which loyal regulars rave about ! Well organised nice atmosphere and clearly these guys use their own personalities at your table ie ' I recommend Sammi's platter for starters ... I'm Sammi by the way ! ' My curry was fragrant and aromatic ... Well worth another visit ..

As a party of six there for an early dinner on a Saturday evening, we had a good welcome and the…read moreservice was prompt and friendly throughout. The eating space is comfy enough, and buzzy with people and waiters flitting around. The menu has all the standards you might expect but, being Bangladeshi-owned, encourages you to head towards the specials. The heat of the dishes is marked from 0 to 5 chillies. Beware, the menu on the website is out of date as of this review. After some standard poppadums and chutneys (weirdly, priced separately), we skipped the starters and headed straight to the mains, sharing pilau rice and naan. The pilau rice was nothing to write home about but the naan bread was good. The Chicken Torkhari (3 chillies, around 7 quid) I had was decent, with a nice heat, served in a hot bowl to spoon in, as with all the dishes. The Paneer Shashlick was reportedly very disappointing: delivered kebab style, with onions, peppers and paneer on skewers, with a "spicy curry sauce" (for which, read "tasteless") on the side, it was far too dry. In particular the paneer was unpleasantly hard and chewy. On this dish alone, the review would be much more damning, but it seems this was just an unfortunate choice amongst a table of reasonable ones.

We went to ITR on Tuesday and it was very busy. Its a small restaurant with just 40 covers but…read moreevery space was taken. We had to wait about 10 minutes before our table was ready. If you are going, I highly recommend you book a table in advance. The waiter explained how the menu "worked". He explained that many of the dishes are kind of like tapas. What I went for was the Dahi Puri which was under the Street Food section. I then went for the Idly Vada from the Tiffin menu. Both of these were pretty small dishes. Under the Tiffin menu, I think if you choose something like the dosa it would be much more filling. The dahi puri was really tasty. You put each pastry straight into your mouth and its a mouth full of flavours! Yum. The next dish was the Idly Vada which was most unusual. Menu says its a mix between doughnuts and dumplings. It was kind of like a loose cake texture. It came with various sauces which it needed. It was more like a carrier of flavours. If you see my photos, you will see what looks more like a doughnut ring. I think this is like the 2 white ones but basically deep-fried. To be honest, I kind of wish I went for something else. The Idly Vada was not bad, just not really to my taste. The "main" I had was the ITR Lamb. Really tasty lamb curry. It came on a circular tray with the rice and a tiny amount of salad. With the lack of space, the circular trays didn't really help - but that would't be an issue normally. The salad was unusual as there was such as small amount. Either don't have a salad or put more on. One thing I noticed was that no poppadoms on the menu - so no poppadoms and then usual chutney tray you get when you go for an Indian meal. Maybe its something you don't get in South Indian food?? (If you looking for the place on Google Maps, the restaurant is where the NatWest bank used to be. Its address is 2 Chapel Street).

ITR is a very small place, far too small to cater for the throngs of folks who want to eat here. So…read moremy advice is to book well in advance to avoid disappointment. We ate on a Tuesday night and it was always at full capacity. If they moved to larger premises, I think they'd risk losing the unique dining experience, which feels like an ever-so-slightly cramped and bustling 'classy canteen', with its simple wooden furniture, bamboo ceiling and metal tableware. The menus (used as paper tablecloths) are well presented - the street food grazing options for starters are split between 'veg warm', 'veg cool' and 'non-veg warm'. There are grilled kebabs, 'Tiffin meets ITR' dishes, Indo-Chinese options and main courses ('Tiffin') so you're really spoilt for choice. The vegetarian Grazing Platter was light, flavoursome and gorgeous. For the main course it was Butter Chicken with roti bread. Again, it exceeded expectations, I had to have extra roti to wipe up every last drop of that sauce. It was out of this world. I didn't have any food envy of my group's dishes for a change. Instead of feeling uncomfortably full as is usual with standard curry houses, after this meal I felt completely satisfied and as happy as Pharrell Williams. Including a serving of a creamy Lassi to drink, my meal came to less than £20. A lively setting, stunning food, friendly service and reasonable prices. If only it was possible to give a six star rating. Cheadle, I'm insanely jealous of you.

Really enjoyed my first trip to Chaat Cart and I will definitely go back…read more We sampled quite a lot of the menu and the following were my favourites and I hope I'll get to order them again next time: Padron peppers - the Spanish favoyrite, with cumin for some Indian flavour! Tenderstem broccoli - I think this was chargrilled or something similar and it had such much flavour Manchurian cauliflower - sweet and sticky sauce paired perfectly with some really tasty cauliflower - don't think I've ever had cauliflower taste that good (even without the sauce!) Fried chicken - perfectly cooked, slightly spicy breadcrumbs, excellent contrasting mint/coriander dip Roast lamb - perfectly tender and juicy with great accompanying sauce and garnish Bhel puri and chickpea curry were a little sweet for my personal tastes but still very nice. I didn't try the onion bhaji but it looked magnificent and I will get it next time. Cocktails wise, the twisted knickers was refreshingly lemony and I liked my G&T with apricots - something a bit different (and there's a huge range of other gins as well). Service was excellent - swift, helpful and friendly - and staff seemed happy to be working there! The restaurant decor is really cool - colourful and comfortable and there's seating both out front and in the adorable back garden. Loved the tropical wallpaper in the toilets, too! Highly recommend you go for a canal stroll and end up here one weekend.

As for the mains, we got the garlic chicken chilli massala and the Bengal Sil Silla. The latter was great, it was hotter than I expected and had a lovely rich flavour. The former was a lot milder and didn't really taste of much. The special tandoori platter was nice although we were a bit full by that point - it was maybe a little drier than the excellent one I had at the Purple Pakora. If I hadn't over-ordered by getting that, it would have been £10 a head which is good value for the amount of food. Delivery was a little slow and then the driver had problems finding the house so if you're mega hungry go and collect!
