I've walked past Chillbar a bunch of times and I've always been curious about it, everyone in Avalon talks about how bad it is but I didn't think that's possible. When I moved to Avalon the first thing the barber said was how bad Chillbar is, and I went there for the first time today. If I could give this business zero stars then I would, Chillbar is so gross. My iced latte was tiny for the price and just plain bad, I dont know why they even insist on doing coffee if they're going to do them so badly. And then I got my bacon and egg roll... I didn't know it was possible for a bacon egg roll to be so bad, I don't know if it was made days ago or something because it was completely inedible, for some reason it had this cheese that had gone hard and the bread was wet and the egg was completely burnt and the bacon was all just uncooked fat. Worst of all was the staff, so disgustingly rude, I don't get how Chillbar is still in business, hopefully not for long. The "chef" and I use that word so kindly, was the rudest of them all, he threw my bacon and egg roll at me and then called me an stupid idiot and tried to start a fight with me and I had to tell him to go fuck himself. My best description of this place was basically shelter from the rain. Well, that's probably being a little too harsh since it was also a place where I was able to grab myself a pot of tea, but considering that it had started pelting down with rain, and the bus had basically dumped us because the bus driver decided he had better things to do, meant that I was looking for a place to satisfy my craving for a cup of tea. Well, this place helped, though it is actually more of a gelataria as opposed to a café, but they still will do you a pot of tea, which is good. read more

We have been visiting Australia for the past five weeks, and in our last week, we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and head up to the Northern Beaches. Why not have a treat at the local gelato shop? My three kids and I went in and asked to try a few of the flavors (we have found that during our stay in Oz, the same flavors can be quite different depending on the shop). My youngest son asked to try the mango and lemon, and then he ordered a double scoop of both. My daughter asked to try the banana and coconut, and then she ordered a double scoop of both. When my eight year old son asked to try a few flavors, after the third sample, he was rudely told that he could not have any more samples, and that he had to order. Are you kidding me? We were already spending a lot of money, and the employee couldn't give my son one more MEASLY sample? I decided to take my son's and my own double scoops elsewhere. No one needs that treatment when on holidays. Don't support establishments that are snooty and stingy! read more
