Ordered a salt free vegan curry this evening and they did as requested. My curry was spicy, flavoursome and the mushroom rice (again salt free) cooked to perfection. Excellent staff who took my order over the phone. 10/10 read more

It was the night before Christmas... actually, the Sunday night before Christmas, and everything…read moreelse was fully booked in the centre of Perth. So we and our friends decided to have a bit of Pizza Express. I haven't been to Pizza Express in a few years, but everything was as I expected, since it's Pizza Express. Service was good. The food was good, but not great. It would come as no surprise that it's a bit overpriced, even if it IS pretty decent pizza. I decided to get one of the low calorie pizzas... they have a hole in the middle with a rocket salad. It was ok. But even for what it was, I felt like I was wasting my money. There were 6 adults and 2 children in our group. They put 3 round tables together, which just made for an awkward setting for conversations. If you're in Perth looking for good pizza, this by no means should be one of your first options. Try Duo or Breizh. If they're closed, then don't get pizza or drive to the next town. Or get Pizza Express and get what you're expecting.

It is still a chain restaurant though but in Perth I find it's the staff that makes the difference. I ventured in recently at lunch time with my little one and they even managed to give her some toys to play with!! It isn't all that big so if you are looking for a table at a set time I would recommend booking in advance especially at the weekend.

There are definitely lots of restaurants or cafes, but very few worth visiting more than once. Duo, however, I simply can't get enough of. Duo is the Italian little sister of Perth's well-known French restaurant Pig'halle, and they sacrifice none of the quality. Everything is made in house, including the pasta and pizza. Knowing this, I have found it hard to resist having pasta here. The egg linguine with mozzarella and sun dried tomatoes is excellent. On my most recent visit I had the pumpkin and pecorino ravioli in honey and orange jus. It was an incredible plat du jour that was almost sweet enough to be a dessert as much as a main course. Speaking of dessert, you really need to have one here. It's worth it just to stop in for dessert with wine or coffee or tea. Or it could be worth stopping in for one (or 10) of their famous macarons (the best in Perth) or an eclair. They also make arguably the best pizzas in town. They even have a haggis pizza, how Italian-Scottish could you get? And it's also worth noting that they do 2-for-1 pizzas to takeaway on Tuesdays... but if you MUST plan ahead. This is such a popular deal that I recommend phoning at least an hour ahead. I'll often phone in the afternoon for an evening pickup.

The hostess and waitress told us about the date night special. £20 for a pizza/pasta entree each and a beer/wine each. And how everything else was priced, that was a good deal. We ordered: Mushroom Risotto Meat Calazone A house white wine Kronenbourg beer Risotto was amazing. Good texture and flavor. Meat Calazone was the size of a small planet, but tasted delicious. We also did not wait long for the food. I was filled up and ready to hit the streets of Perth once more. A great place for great food and service. I will be visiting again. I have already told friends about this place, and came here based upon a friends recommendation.

I only wish that I had taken more photos of this place because it has to be seen to be believed. The owners spent over a year designing the place and it is really stunning, with glass contemporary chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and ambient back-lighting, beautiful flower arrangements and a long, luxurious bar fully stocked. As for the food, I've always been a fan of their takeaway food and I have to say the restaurant was even better. We all went for the buffet and there was an impeccable selection of starters, main courses, accouterments and desserts. I particularly enjoyed the Tikka Chili Chicken, numnum. The Peshwari Naan was also delicious and perfectly cooked. The staff, as in the takeaway, are fantastic. Chatty, helpful, extremely friendly as they always have been. They gave us a complementary bottle of wine and a few Glava's on the house in honour of my dad's birthday and (as you can see from the photos) a lovely wee cake with a sparkler which we very much enjoyed.
