You would like to supervise and watch your child learn how to paint. But the rule for a group party if you're not painting you aren't allowed in the back. They consider that "spectators" not allowed. So your invite to a birthday party you would have to leave your child to paint by themselves or paint with them. You can't just watch. For a kids birthday party you shouldn't have to leave minor kids ages 7 alone due to some policy they have. I felt like the way the instructor came about this wasn't so considerate. Just put a bad taste in my mouth to not ever have a birthday party booked here. During the booking the place could have notified the person booking and let them be aware of the policy is before having a kids party. We all could have been aware warned when we first walked in.

They walk you through step by step so even the worst artists (like myself) can make a beautiful painting. The new location is nice and the artist we had was funny and very friendly. It's also super easy to make your own unique touches for your painting, and they don't mind helping you. Wine and painting make for a great girls night!

They have started doing a little better about having outlet options, but mainly at those tall, long skinny tables. The ones that aren't necessarily great for working because they're so high up and can make your legs feel weird after awhile. Haha. The other semi complaint I have is that they close early. 3 pm is early when you want to try and work. Drinks are good. I don't drink a ton of coffee these days, but what I've had there was good. I get either their chai or matcha. Both of those I enjoy! I had a sandwich there recently. I wanted to roll my eyes at the price truthfully. However, when it came.. WOAH. It was GIANT. I was thoroughly impressed. It was really really good. I had to take half of it home and put it in the fridge. When I came back home hours later... it was STILL GOOD. The bread was not soggy either! That's HUGE! Ok so overall, I highly recommend this place and it's one of my go to spots.

I'd still consider going back since they're open fairly late, which I really appreciate. There's a small parking lot next to the shop, which is convenient. Overall, a fun spot for the atmosphere even if the coffee didn't quite hit for me.

In fact, I felt like I would probably never paint again. Fast forward a couple of years to my mom asking me if I would be interested in taking a class at The Art Mill. I was hesitant for a couple of reasons, including the distance from Lebanon to my home in West Nashville and traveling back home in the evening (I'm an old-lady-home-body-type of person now) and most of all the above mentioned previous experience with painting. But my mom can be rather convincing, and I signed up for a class. My experience at The Art Mill was fantastic! I didn't realize it at the time, but my artist instructor is the owner of the business. Scott quickly put my fears at ease with his step-by-step method. He took the time to show us a step, then walk around to give suggestions, encouragement and assistance on each person's paintings without me feeling like he was just doing it all for me. Scott also took my color choices into consideration so that I could match my guest room, even though they were slightly different than the ones specified for the painting. My painting came out beautiful, unique and all my own. I felt so confident about my painting that I had it framed by Scott before leaving and hung the painting in my guest room as soon as I got home that evening, despite it being a late hour for this old lady. I can truly say that I am proud to show off my evening of artistic creativity. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to The Art Mill and envisioning other works for art throughout my home.
