Just a quick disclaimer--I used to work there. I no longer do, but that hasn't dampened my…read moreadmiration for Gross Drug at all. On the contrary--I feel stores like this represent the best of the old America I grew up in. Bridgeport is in the middle of nowhere, and Gross Drug is the last old business in a town whose demographic has changed dramatically in the last forty years. During all that time Dale and Sheryl Gross have maintained an old fashioned feel to their full-service pharmacy and drug store. You can find obscure products from your childhood and the latest cancer medications. There's an excellent magazine section (the nearest one that's better is fifty miles away). Gifts, children's toys, cards and beauty products, stationery and office supplies, even a few vet supplies. Everybody there is friendly, cheerful, and will literally move the world to get you what you need--just ask. The old Five-And-Dime--my home town of Menlo Park, California had one. It's now replaced by a snarky boutique in a high street utterly unrecognisable from the gentle backwater it once was. So dreadfully sad. But Gross Drug in Bridgeport, Washington is INSTANTLY recognisable from the days when America was intimate and friendly. Long may it live!

As long as you know prior to going in that it's a typical thrift store then you won't be surprised or disappointed. The store is well organized & clean. Shelves of typical glassware, shoes, toys, books and small appliances. Prices were average for the area. Just makes me wonder where all the could be donations from all the construction in the area ends up. I guess it doesn't say anywhere the store has to sell building materials, but that's what I'm used to. Worth a looksie, but not for that small, random piece of laminate you need.

Patty, her animal rescue mission Patty's Animal Rescue, and this associated thrift shop, A Cause…read morefor Paws, were a priceless resource when I needed help clearing out my loved one's decades of accumulated belongings to make their home presentable for sale. After we met once at the property, located on a dirt road in a remote area, Patty took charge and handled everything necessary, repurposing just about everything in the house, from the old clothes and linens (to be resold or recycled) to the stored food in the cupboards (to feed her rescue animals), to the building materials in the attic and the automotive stuff stored in the garage (to be resold at A Cause for Paws). Patty also found a great junk hauling service and supervised the removal of everything that wasn't reusable. When the house was empty, she and her daughter swept and mopped the whole place and left it ready for sale. She kept me up to date on what was going on the whole time, and asked me whenever she came across something that might be important or meaningful, in case I wanted to save it. Her diligence and integrity are incomparable. I couldn't be happier with Patty, Patty's Animal Rescue, and A Cause for Paws!

This boutique specializes in women's clothing and accessories. I saw plenty of lovely tops and…read moredresses and pants, as well as purses and totes and jewelry items. I'd say this shop caters most to women in their 30's and older. The quality of clothing was high, both in materials and craftsmanship. As a result, the prices of clothing here was also quite high. You get what you pay for, I suppose! The store itself is pretty and well laid-out. There's an open plan here and it's easy to walk about and explore the various clothing racks and displays. The dressing rooms in the back looked quite nice, too. The lady who works here was very pleasant and we chatted a bit. I was surprised that they didn't have any business cards when I asked for one, though (I keep business cards for future reference, and also to help me when I write my Yelp reviews!). For the most part, though, this was a nice store to explore, with higher-end women's ware. I would definitely check back here if I lived nearby to see when items went on sale.
