Nacho and the boat driver were awesome. We had a wonderful time :) they were on time and provided good equipment. Pleasant day and experienced operators. I would recommend this dive company !

I do not recommend Chicos. They stole my deposit (1000 pesos). Posting this as a warning to anybody thinking of dealing with Chicos on the Malecon that they're not trustworthy and as a reminder to myself to listen to my instincts. Summary of events (see attachments for additional proof): 1. On Tueday, 2021- 02-23, I was walking past their storefront on the Malecon and asked if they were doing any diving on the weekend i.e. 2021-02-26 or 27. 2. I was told no because they needed more than 1 person and I was the only person so far who was interested. 3. They took my phone number and said they'd contact me if something changed. 4. I walked away and got about 5 meters when the woman (Alejandra) chased after me and said "Actually we can do Saturday". This was my first red flag. 5. I said ok great, and went back to the shop where she wrote down my sizes for fins, wetsuit etc. 6. She then asked how much of a deposit I wanted to put down. This was my second red flag, and I should have listened to it. We agreed on a 1000 pesos, and I got a receipt. 7. On the Friday, 2021-02-26, I was called and told that actually Saturday was not possible due to an issue with the boat. I assume they just couldn't get a second person, no problem stuff happens. 8. I asked if I could come and get my deposit. I was told no because she didn't have the money because the owner wasn't there. I was told to come Sunday between 10-15:00 to collect my deposit. Huge red flag #3. 9. I showed up on Sunday at 14:45. Woman says she doesn't have the money because the owner still hadn't been there. I asked where was the owner and I was told he took a group out but it was a private tour, which why I couldn't have gone on it. 10. I asked how I was going to get my money, and I was told via Paypal, and that I would 100% get it tomorrow (i.e. 2021-03-01) I provided my paypal e-mail address. I asked for my receipt back to ensure that I had something to show that I hadn't been paid back and was given it. 11. Called yesterday, and was told that the owner still hadn't come so she still didn't have the money but definitely would be sent tomorrow 2021-03-02 before 15:00. 12. I called today, 2021-03-02 at 14:34; I was told Alejandra (woman I booked with) had had an emergency, wasn't working today and headed back to Guadalajara but they would reach out and ask her. I heard nothing. 13. Called back at 17:00. Still no news. Obviously at this stage, doesn't look like I'm getting my money back. Lesson learned for me and hopefully this helps other people.

So it was a nice place, the dive guide was nice and helpful, the boat ride out to the location was enjoyable. What earned this place two stars was that as me and my mother ascended from the dive with the guidance of a dive instructor we ascended much to quickly and my mom actually got the bends. That evening she ended up in the emergency room and spent 24 hours in the ICU being treated for decompression sickness. The actual dive was okay, visibility was average. We did get to see and octopus and a couple puffer fish which was pretty neat. Was kind of just a freak accident but make sure to stop as your ascending as to not get decompression sickness. As fairly new divers we were depending on the diver guide for instruction but were not given the best of instruction which led to a pretty hefty medical bill

Let me start with the lesson. The instructor was very thorough and repeated all important facts and instructions multiple times. The highlights were then repeated once more on the boat ride before the dive. Victor, the captain, was very nice and helpful... even with taking our pictures :) Brian, the dive master/guide, was very patient with and kind to us! My wife panicked a few times while in the water and wanted to get back in the boat before enjoying the full experience... Brian was very kind to her, calmed her down, and guided her through the rest of the dive(s). He stayed with her the entire time, allowing her to stay calm/collected. We loved it! We had so much fun and will never forget this experience. This is a definite "must" and Chico Dive shop is a wonderful company to have guide you through this experience :)

Marc is a lanky Brit who has lived in PV for 17 years and has learned fluent Spanish. He has put together a wonderful business and has a great respect for all people and nature. I was part of an inaugural diving trip for Queer and Trans divers hosted by Narwhal Divers (https://www.narwhaldivers.com/). The founder of Narwhal, Niko, has been diving with Marc for many years. (Marc had a number of repeat customers on every dive/snorkel excursion.) Marc and the crew were respectful to us all. They were precise with correct pronoun usage and helped everyone feel welcome. While Marc comes across as a jokester on land, as a dive master he was calm, patient, organized, and safety-focused. He made efficient decisions and clear instructions. The visibility in the water varied dive to dive and a few of us got separated from the group at various times. As Marc had done a safety briefing on the boat, each of us knew what to do and all remained well. When I got separated, I didn't panic, started my ascent, and Mark located me during my safety stop. (Other dive boats in the area had helped him locate me by my air bubble stream. Clearly a community that all looks out for others!) Marc and I returned to the group and the dive continued without issue. We even saw a massive turtle on our final dive!!! [Even with marginal visibility, other sightings included many octopuses, a baby jellyfish, sea urchins, sea snakes, sting rays, sea cucumber, eel, nudibranchs, lobster, starfish, fresh coral and soooooooo many fish. Marc clearly knew the seascape well and was able to guide us to incredible underwater moments!] I look forward to diving with Marc and his team in the future!

Yes, we paid maybe 10% more than with other shops, but their focus on quality diving and their commitment to our safety, plus the inclusion of all the extras (gear and marine park fees and harbor fees and surface interval snacks/sandwiches ... which others tack on as extra charges) more than justify the small extra cost. Not to mention, their staff are top notch, full of knowledge, and very entertaining. TD is all about substance, not flash. Next time we come to PV, we'll happily put our lives in their hands.

Can't begin to say how great this operation is. From our initial conversations with Giovanni who…read morewas always very very quick to answer.( much quicker than any of the other four dive shops we sent messages out to at the same time) I explained to him that I would need some extra help in getting in and out of the dive boat with gear. The dive crew were absolutely all you can ever ask for they were very thorough and checking gear they were very thorough and explaining what our dive was going to be, profile, things to see, all the rules and asked for concerns. Even reviewed dive hand signals that we might need to have, explained how if someone was separated, it's been a long time since I have had a crew be so thorough and so safety oriented. As for the help I asked for I got all I could ever want and then some. Kudos to this dive operation. BTW I saw some of the other dive operations that were going out And their ratios of divers to staff did not even come near to what Twin Dolphin. Can't tell you the last time I recommended a company as highly as this!

(One tip: if you're staying in Sayulita... listen when Roberta recommend getting cash ahead on the way to Sayulita! ATMs in town are often out of cash.) And while I can't remember his name, the guy who got us set up for our trip was also super helpful as was Oscar our driver. The trip itself was awesome! Palma & Edgar were a top-notch team. Palma, our guide, had so much knowledge and a real joy in sharing it. He also really knows how to connect with people, their individual needs, and help make the experience special. And because of this we saw so many different kinds of fish, birds, crabs, whales... and learned about the National Park, the area, etc. I'll have his joy-filled "Look, look... Mira, mira..." in my head for awhile as I explore the world, and that's a good thing. He guided us through Hidden Beach and it's caves and took pictures for us so we could just enjoy. On the ride back Edgar, our awesome captain, and Palma were set on finding whales, and we did! And Palma went around and filmed with everyone's cameras so that we could be in the moment and enjoy all the while keeping his energy and attention on the group experience. We saw the bigger boats out there, with water slides and such, and we were so glad to have this more intimate tour. And we met some great people on our small tour, so having beers and tacos afterward together (set up by the tour) was a great touch.

So fun! The team is great and Stephane showed us amazing wildlife and rock formations! Thanks guys!!read more
