I recently went to my cousin's farewell party and the Pancit Malabon caught my attention because of how beautiful it was prepared, but the look was just an added bonus, it's the taste that makes me come back for more, and it was probably the best I've tasted so far. I just can't get enough of the sophisticated taste of their Pancit Malabon so I went to their restaurant the next day. It was a bit pricey than the other pancit houses that I know, maybe because the pancit was topped with lots of shrimps, chicharon and egg. I had lunch and also found out that their pork barbecue and pichi-pichi are to die for. I recommend the pichi-pichi with cheese, as the saltiness of the cheese complements the sweetness and creaminess of coconut-cassava ball. I recommend their bestsellers like fish fillet in tartar sauce, lengua in mushroom sauce and Golden fried chicken- yum! Their menu is all made-to-order so if you want to order, you have to allow at least 1 1/ 2 hour of cooking and preparation time for delivery and 45 minutes for takeout or pick up. Altogether, their food is delicious! I'll give two thumbs up!

Those lunches were fantastic. When I resigned from that job, I also said goodbye to Amber (temporarily). I was so happy when Amber finally decided to open a branch in Las Pinas. And while I don't eat or order there as much as before (we have great cooks in the family so we rarely order pancit or spaghetti outside), I'm still a big fan of their food and service. The cost of their food is slightly higher than the average pancit and barbecue delivery stores in the area, but it's no secret that they're really delicious. The pichi-pichi is soft but not squishy. It's so good, I can finish one order (12 pieces) by myself.

To help relieve couples of headache and stress, caterers and event planners created wedding packages which include amenities and styling, not just food. Clearly, this is now a flourishing business. Attending a wedding expo gave me the opportunity to listen to the sales pitch of various caterers. After a day of talking to a number of them, I was able to limit my options to a few which have value features that come at a reasonable price. One such caterer is M Catering and Fine Foods (under Michelin Cuisine and Fine Foods, Inc). In fairness, I initially thought that it belongs to the unreasonably lavish high-end bracket favored by celebrities and socialites. As a matter of fact, one of the first promo cards they handed me was a picture of Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera. Proudly, they claimed to be the caterer to the couple's so-called Royal Wedding. Subsequently, however, I discovered that in terms of value for money deals, M Catering compared favorably with the competitors. It promised amenities and decent theme styling with the absence of a multitude of additional charges that makes calculation more complex than necessary. They had just a few extra charges and they instantly showed me how to do the computation. As far as the menu is concerned, M Catering offers a wide variety of international dishes even for their lowest priced package. This offers relief from the usual run of reception menus of which most everyone is tired by now. Lastly, a word of advice to the wise bride and groom: In looking for a caterer do not simply compare the standard quoted prices but take into account the value of the product and the amenities and styling that come with the package. Most importantly, beware of rules and additional charges that the caterer may have inserted among the fine print.

At that time, their branch along Kalayaan Avenue was still open and parking was more often than not difficult and going there in a big group was more or less hard to sit down. Even when I was already working, I would order some tapa for delivery plus a saba con hielo and I was set for the rest of my day. I transferred from office to office and had some tapa delivered to me at least once or twice a month. My favorite is the Tapa Queen. It has a little spice but add the vinegar and it's perfect. I always make sure that each spoon would have rice, tapa dipped in vinegar, atchara (pickled papaya strips) and some egg. Sometimes I would even mix the egg with the rice to make life easier. Seriously, I need to head to a Rufo's branch soon. Or maybe have some delivered now. It should be perfect even for dinner.

We mentioned about the 24/7 sign and she said it depends on the day :( I have no comment on the food because, unfortunately, we weren't able to try it before we left. Ilocos empanada has several ingredients such as green papaya, mung beans, whole egg, a piece of their famous garlicky Ilocos longanissa and enveloped in a crispy shell case made of mixed flour and crushed annato seeds to add crunch to this delectable empanada. The good thing is you don't have to travel twelve hours from the city to have a taste of Ilocos famous empanada since Victoria's Empanada de Iloko brought it here in Manila. Sample this dish while it's hot and crispy and although Victoria's version is more peppery that the ones in Ilocos, just add Sukang Iloko and that would balance the taste and get that authentic Ilocos empanada taste.
