Ten piece wings, wedges and a Jarritos!
    Alfie E.

I had Chicken King for the first time at Ivy Station's Second Fridays Summer series. I had no idea what to have for dinner and I ordered their 10 pc hot wings, wedges and a bottle of Jarritos. Let me tell you, after being disappointed by hot wings for the past 6 months, i did NOT expect to have received one of the best hot wings in town from a food truck! All the pieces were HUGE, cooked to perfection with that royal crunch and juicy in the inside. They coated it with just the right amount of of hot sauce. I could NOT finish them! I was was full after eating three and I was more than happy to bring them home and eat them the next day! The wedges were seasoned just right and the potato was fluffy in the inside. The amount of food I ordered which I thought was for one is enough to share with two more adults. The prices are comparable to other businesses but you definitely get great tasting, high quality food. Staff was friendly and they were fast! It did not take long for me to get my order. All in all, I was impressed and I am actually thinking of going to the next Ivy Station event just to get this for dinner.

Overpriced for the quality of food. A 3-piece tender and biscuit is $15. I added an extra biscuit because I was sharing with another person so $18 for a 3-piece tender and 2 biscuits? The biscuits could have been more consistent. My friend got the nice, soft biscuit while mine was hard and bready. The size of the chicken makes you think it's worth it, but they're not extraordinary. The seasoning was basic and I was expecting more. I could have just gone to Popeyes for this price and also gotten a side of fries or mac n cheese lol.

    Three piece tender meal

It's way overpriced, three tenders and a biscuit for $15 and they want to charge you $1 plus tax for a sauce. When I picked up my order and told them the sauce was missing they told me it's not included in any of meals. They sell packaged sauces (ranch, bbq, hot sauce, buffalo, mustard), nothing made in house. It's nothing out of this world or a special seasoning blend that makes up for the cost.

Delicious chicken. I first saw this truck at the classic car show earlier this year at West LA College. I saw it again when it came to the Movies in the Park in Culver City. Glad I tried it. I thought the chicken would come with sauce, but mine didn't. They sell sauce so I thought it was if you wanted extra. I got fries and a 3 piece of tenders. It was quite pricy, I think about $21, plus more if you tip. The 3 piece was $14 and I got fries for $5. Plus sales tax. The chicken did not need sauce. I loved the flavors as is. It was kinda like seasoned salt/cajun seasoning/Lawry's. The chicken was cooked well, NOT dried out. Would def order again. Yum. You should try it. The fries were also good. Typical potato wedges like you get at Ralphs deli or etc. All the food was cooked fresh, and piping hot. When I got there, they had just cooked up a fresh batch and were taking it out of the fryer etc.

The hardest biscuit I've ever had. Whatever is on top was hard and stuck to my teeth like taffy.

The difference between the two locations was night and day. Even though it was Mother's Day and busy everywhere, Boyle Heights was organized, fast, friendly, and fully stocked. There was plenty of parking, the line moved quickly, and the employees were courteous and professional from the moment we arrived. Most importantly! THEY HAD EVERYTHING. Fresh biscuits? Yes. Fully stocked menu? Yes. Good customer service? Absolutely. The biscuits were fresh, hot, buttery, and delicious, exactly how I remembered Pioneer Chicken growing up in Los Angeles. We honestly ate them on the drive home because they were THAT good. You could immediately feel the better energy and management at this location. People were constantly coming in and out, yet the staff still handled things efficiently and professionally. As someone born and raised in LA, Pioneer Chicken is nostalgic for me, and this Boyle Heights location felt much closer to the Pioneer I remember. I will definitely return to this location again. Thank you to the Boyle Heights staff for saving Mother's Day dinner. Sorry I didn't take a picture of the biscuits, the aroma took over, the box was opened and my mouth ate before my camera! ha ha ha

Initially they mentioned they didn't have uni available, but the attentive manager came to us and shared that he wasn't completely satisfied with the quality of the uni that day, though he was still willing to serve it to me. I really appreciated the honesty and passion for quality. I came here eyeing on the uni pasta, so I had to go for it. Maybe he was right, it was just OK. It wasn't necessarily the uni itself, but the pasta and cream sauce felt slightly overcooked and a bit dry. It could've used more sauce to bring everything together. Still, no ragrets (iykyk). It's something you should try here . We also ordered the hand roll trio and toro, which was yummy. The fish was fresh, beautifully cut, and served in generous pieces. They're partnering with Death & Co, known for their craft cocktails which explains why the drinks here are so uniquely curated and well mixed. Definitely worth exploring their cocktail menu.

This is a chain place that sells wings near a freeway entrance, and Inext to a 711 and a laundromat. I give it 5 stars because of what this place is and the style of food and service that I expected to get :) There is inside seating but it seems like more of a place where people ordered and left. I was the same with a to go order of a 10 piece combo with garlic parm and lemon pepper bone in wings. The cleanliness was fine enough and the staff was fine and nice enough :) The person that took my order smiled as I gave my order and smiled as I picked up my order. I like the open windows to the kitchen area too verify the cleanliness and cooking of the food :) Wings were as expect, good :) Will I return... maybe... if I'm in the area again....
