Do not do it! I've honestly never seen a business ran this way. We arrived 30 minutes before closing. We'd just gotten to town and I was desperate for takeout. Everyone behind the counter was visibly upset that I walked in. I allowed an older lady to order first as I hadn't figured out what I wanted. The woman behind the counter told the lady "She'd (me) better figure out what she wants because we're closing!" First red flag. Second...she told an elderly couple the dining room was closed after they'd already sat down. I watched them repack their meals and leave. Thirty minutes before closing. Who does this? Then, they refused to cook what we wanted, a simple ten piece chicken meal. They're named THE CHICKEN HOUSE!!!! Refused. THEN, they refused to discount the meal if we were to take the wings and thighs they had under the heat lamp. Impossible to run a business this way. I've been a loyal customer for years and was excited to be back in town and to be met with this kind rudeness.... If you like to be abused then this is your restaurant! read more

We searched for restaurants while camping near by. The Chicken House pooped up and had great ratings so we stopped in. We didn't realize they were closing soon and were a little concerned we might be stuck with what was leftover but OMG it was some of the best fried chicken we have ever had! We had the burgers. They were very tasty with fresh veggies. The onion rings were very crispy. They were busy and you could tell it is a local favorite. The restaurant was clean and with a good amount of seating. We'll definitely come back when passing through or camping at the state park. read more

It is a travesty that there are not more reviews of the Chicken House. I am from South Ga and I was on my way home to visit. It is a throwback to all of the chicken houses I grew up frequenting. I believe South Ga chicken is the best fried chicken in the world. Not too much breading and not too little. This was exactly like I remember as a child growing up in Vidalia and surrounding areas. You could tell that everyone that came in knew everyone working at the restaurant and everyone else that was there except me. I saw another review complaining about the cooks not wearing gloves. They also did not wear hairnets. I personally like it. My mother did not wear gloves to fry chicken. I believe in sanitation and cleanliness as much as the next person, but it is kinda refreshing to see that there are still places that do not subscribe to the sterile overly cautious world we live in. This was Country People cooking Fried Dang Chicken the way God meant it to be. Yes I went there. I believe Fried Chicken comes straight from God. My mom and dad live in Thomson, GA and I came to their lake house in Lincolnton for a vacation with my family. Not only was their fried chicken top notch, but so was their catfish, hush puppies, and coleslaw. The lady who served us gave us some samples of their chicken salad to try.
