Chicama is not only a grocery store.
It is a first rate bakery and cafe.
It has nice seats overlooking Plaza Zapiola.
It is a fine place to spend an hour or three.
You are not here to get legendary or unique anything.
The menu is standard.
The execution is fine.
We did one of their gigantic two people vegan brunches.
We had a zillion things and loved them all.
I send out special applause for their orange juice with basil,
for their chocolate banana budim (a frosting-less cake similar to a date bread)
And their insane potatoes with vegan cheddar and guacamole.
Not all everyday restaurants in Buenos Aires have lots of vegan options.
Chicama is good that way.
Both this writer and his vegetable loving dairy hating wife were happy.
