This is the very best place in the Monserrat/San Telmo district of BA to get incredible desserts…read morebut especially made-to-order sandwiches. Everything is freshly baked and the food is delicious. You won't be able to decide which pastry to choose, I guarantee it! Friendly staff to boot! I recommend the chicken or jamón crudo (ham) and cheese on a baguette.

Someone gifted us with assortment of cookies from this bakery in Buenos Aires. All were delicious. My favorite was a cookie topped with raspberry jam, an almond and icing. It was better than an orgasm...ok maybe not better but pretty darn close. These cookies were bite size but each had its own distinct and delicious flavor. If ever I make it to Buenos Aires I will definitely look this bakery up and spend the entire day sampling all their little bits of heaven. So `Ono!

I don't know what it is, but I do know it is sweet gooey goodness. The taste is sort of like rose-honey with some not-too-sweet berries thrown in. Anyway, I've not seen it in the US so I bring jars back with me. I'm like that. What are rose-hips anyway???

This is by far the best market for imported goods in all Buenos Aires, and that is a bold…read morestatement to make. They have excellent bathrooms (flowers, clean and with art pieces above the toilets) and their food selection its impressive for Argentinean standards. You get some tasty fresh goods and local takeout delicatessen made right on the spot! Yes! In front of your eyes! From roasted meats flavored with local species, to authentic sushi made by a Japanese sushi master! While the personal its horrible to dealt with (and extremely rude as well) I find that the food selection alone makes this the place to go shopping for tasty treats in Buenos Aires. If you are coming here, you need to stop by this Bay Area chain supermarket. Kumbo has a free parking lot underground, and if you pay with your credit card instead of cash (rare in Argentina) they have one of these self-checkout machines you can use instead if wait in line like a bum! Also, they have a dry-cleaning service right inside the store, so you can get that jacket clean while you shop!

Now that's the way a toilet should be. Classy.

Our guide had recommended Freddo, but we ended up loving Lucciano much more. I'd even say it's better than some of the gelato I've had in Italy. Yes, I said it! On my first visit, I got a small with Coco Rock and Dubai Chocolate, and it was absolutely divine. I enjoyed it so much that I upgraded to a medium on my second visit. Unfortunately, with our limited Spanish, I think there was a mix-up and I only got one scoop of Dubai Chocolate instead of two, so that was a bit of a bummer. If I ever make it back to Buenos Aires, I might just get a whole tub of the Dubai Chocolate flavor. Also, their ice pops are so adorable, they're almost too cute to eat!

There were a lot of people here looking for some of these exotic flavors. It was very convenient to have this shop right accros the street from our hotel. That worked out well! My only challenge was communicating exactly what I wanted in English. The service was fine and I like their model of paying for what you want then ordering the flavors you want. While it is easy to say "Chocolate" or "Vanilla," size and method of delivery was a little more difficult. But, in the end all worked out and we left happy and REALLY enjoyed the gelato. Many people were here to buy cones, cups and event larger sizes to bring home. Clearly Lucciano's has a strong following. KUDOs to the team at Lucciano's
