Foster Ave., Chicago, IL, is the UPS Store and not where is business is located. John took a long time to send the appraisal once I paid him. When my attorney had questions regarding his work and we needed clarification on the appraisal, he would not call us back. I have left many voicemails and sent numerous emails and he will not respond. I now am out the cost of $700.00 and have to hire another appraisal company. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and States Attorney's office. read more

I made a very wise choice in selecting Chicagoland Appraisals to appraise a single family property in the Beverly neighborhood of Chicago that I was interested in buying. I hired John (Chicagoland Appraisals) back in late July for an appraisal, primarily due to the positive reviews for this company. The response time was excellent for the site visit, I received a call back within a couple hours and set an appointment a few weeks later. John arrived on-time and completed the site visit, HOWEVER, the site visit/inspection was on August 12 and over a month later, and although we discussed having the appraisal completed within a week, I still have not received the completed appraisal from Chicagoland appraisals. I have attempted to contact John via email regarding the completed appraisal and have not received a response. Needing the appraisal within a couple weeks of Aug 12, I contacted another local appraiser and scheduled a site visit appointment on September 7 and received the completed appraisal the same day. Unfortunately due to lack of follow-up, I cannot recommend Chicagoland Appriasals to others looking for an appraisal. read more

Very nice guy. Was quick to return document and also responsive to questions. I just am not sold on his knowledge on the per-sq-footage value of properties in my area. My unit is listed by the Grand Ohio association as 873sqft, he measured as 756sqft and he told me the discrepancy is not a big deal because per-sq-footage value doesn't really play into the appraised value. Anyone who lives downtown Chicago or specifically in the Grand Ohio building could probably relate to my frustration. He also appraised my property using much smaller comparable properties, and the one comparable property that was in the same sq-ft class as mine and was priced right, IMHO, he dismissed as an outlier. I am not an appraiser, so maybe I am taking all of this too far, but knowing and owning this condo for so long, I am very much aware of the value of properties in the Grand Ohio, and I am quite certain my property was very much undervalued by Chicagoland Apraisals. read more
