I consulted David Perez, a real estate agent of Bullock Russell Real Estate Services for a home I…read morewas interested in possibly purchasing in the mountains. I had originally met Mr. Perez when he was the buyers agent for someone who invited me to view the property they were purchasing with his help. Months later I was in discussions with a different agent and broker about selling property. I had asked that agent to go with me to a property in the mountains I wanted to view. That agent committed to following up at the beginning of the new week, and e-mailed their team members, promising one of them would contact me. Unfortunately, no one associated with that agent ever followed-up and the property I was interested in became contingent and no longer available. I continued to watch the property, and about five months later the property fell out of escrow and was relisted for sale. My experience with the agent I had been in discussions with lost my trust and confidence. I didn't feel they valued me as a potential customer for a sale, and they showed I couldn't trust them for showing me property or negotiating property. Perhaps if I had asked them to sell my car, or help me buy a car, that would of been different. But when you are dealing with hundreds of thousands of dollars into the millions, i'd have to be insane to work with anyone I can't trust. I contacted David Perez of Bullock Russell Real Estate Services since I already had his phone number, he had already helped someone I know purchase a property, and he seemed very knowledgeable when I had previously met him. To my surprise David offered to show me the property, despite knowing it would require several hours of his time, and a three hour round trip drive. He also knew, it was the only property I was looking at in California. David contacted the selling agent to request a time for us to view the property, met at the property on a Saturday, walked me through all the different areas within the property and pointed out issues that concerned him about it. He estimated it may need an addition $250,000 investment to bring it up to code and to correct several concerning issues, including a notice we found on the door from the county indicating it was in violation of several codes. David recommended not purchasing the property and explained why, and that is what a buyer or seller wants and needs from a real estate agent. Someone who is honest, trustworthy and genuinely helping you evaluate a property. I found David very friendly, eager to assist, professional, and knowledgeable. He was able to answer all of my questions about the property being looked at and saved me from making a bad purchase. I didn't buy that property and decided to hold off on property hunting while I determine what state or area I want to look at going forward. I interviewed 5 or 6 different agents and brokers so far, and I found it difficult to find one who I feel I can trust. When dealing with so much money, and something so important, I want someone I'd feel comfortable leaving my wallet on the table around if I had to leave the room. I can only speak to my experience, but I feel confident all my money would still be in my wallet if I left it in the room with Mr. Perez, or when making a decision for buying real estate.

It's a good thing we trusted Leilani Serrao-Baker to handle our real estate sale in Dana Point, CA. We were back and forth constantly trying to figure out; do we sell now? later? how much? how little? When will be the right time for us? The roller coaster was getting stressful and we needed to move forward. We talked with Leilani one day and explained to her where we were at, she replied that she had at least three couples who would be interested in buying our home, in our area, AND we could do it OFF-MARKET! We needed a hassle-free sale and Leilani made that happen every step of the way. She knows the market and stays up to date, but the most important thing? Having the actual contacts and talking to people to see where they are in the mix. She was able to match us to the family who bought our home at a price that was great for us, and for them. It was a win-win! In our opinion, it's the best way to go buying or selling. Give her a call, you won't regret it.

If I was just reviewing Mark on my home purchases, I would give him a full five stars, but that isn't the only aspect of me and my wife's relationship with Mark. First of all Mark is a great human being who is more interested in making sure you are achieving your life goals than simply making a commission. He always answers his phone, and in the rare case it goes to voicemail, he returns the call same day. Mark is patient and not pushy; we lived in our second home for 14 years before we were ready to upgrade. Mark was always there for us, ready when we were. He is ever ready with helpful advice that doesn't always pertain to home selling or purchasing. His salesmanship skills are second to none; we sold our second home through Mark so that we could buy our third home, and we listened to his advice. The home sold in 48 hours, while our neighbors houses are STILL for sale. Each of our homes was a stretch for us because of many different factors. Mark got this, and also got the fact that not everyone has a perfect home buying financial profile. Last but not least is Mark's wife Theresa who does all of the purchase paperwork and helps Mark put the deals together. 100% correct documentation that is delivered fast. What more could you ask for. Mark Thoburn is not only an excellent realtor, he is now a lifelong friend and I would never, ever buy or sell anything without him. Would give him 10 stars if I could.

After my father passed away I decided to sell the house and only thought of one person to call...Jill McGovern, the realtor who helped my dad buy the house 13 years ago. She came by the house to get an idea of it's value and then taking into account the current state of the housing market she thought we could get a lot more than I ever imagined. Even more than Zillow thought it was worth! The neighbors thought we were crazy, but wished us good luck as they would benefit from increased comps themselves. We signed the paperwork and she got right to work. There would have to be some improvements before listing. Painting, new carpets, deep cleaning, etc.... I was relieved when she said she was trying to keep the work to only what was absolutely necessary to keep my expenses down. The great thing is that Jill has a huge network of people to get the work done. She's got a painter. She knows a great carpet guy (Sal, who was awesome and got me a GREAT deal!). She's got a cleaner she likes. All these people have worked with her for years and not only did they do a great job, they didn't break the bank. The house never looked better! Jill took a lot pictures and listed the house. We immediately got a couple offers and she was able to figure out who serious and who was REALLY serious. Now it was time for the negotiating and this was where Jill really shined, demonstrating years of experience. She was able to navigate the counteroffers and list of repairs and ultimately saved me thousands of dollars. The biggest and most important aspect was that Jill was always in control of the situation and I never for a minute felt out of the loop. If I didn't understand something (which was a lot!) she took the time to explain it to me. Also, we definitely functioned as a team. When there was a decision to be made she consulted with me and we talked about the best course of action. If you're reading this then you're obviously looking for a realtor and you can look no more. Jill McGovern is your woman!
