Staff turnover seems much higher and the facility is in general disrepair. Things have been broken and aren't being fixed at all (lockers, lights, benches, swimsuit dryers, etc.). The staff and teachers have always been very friendly and great with our kids, but we are just not as happy as this place as we used to be. Ultimately we are trying somewhere else closer to home.

Classes are held in local pools, we went to Georgious/Days Inn in Orland Hills. Signage for the school helped us locate the class, and a room was available for clothing change. Pool area was clean, with plenty of seating for parents/observers. Staff greeted us promptly, and demonstrated abundant patience and expertise with the kids during their class time. My son has done a few classes with Patti's; Gymnastics, swimming and dance…read more The swimming is hit or miss. We originally did Saturday mornings and he managed to regress. One of the instructors that was subbing heard my complaints of his regression and worked more with him. She suggested doing the everyday for a week class with her. We did and he improved immensely. So much so that I did another week the following month while still keeping the Saturday. After that the Saturday class seemed a waste of time as my son was with kids still afraid to get in the water and he was floating, going down the slide by himself etc. A plus for Patti's swimming is as a parent you can sit by the pool and hear what's happening. There are only 2 classes max at the same time. As far as the gymnastics and dance go my son loves them both. He looks forward to his classes and will ask when can we go again, which is never the case for other programs. He's super excited for his upcoming dance recital and loves showing us his "moves" at home.

He…read morewas amazing, funny and very supportive with teaching our daughter, from the very first minute of meeting him, the communication leading up to her lessons. He has helped our daughter build her confidence from day one with no floats and being able to get her head wet, to the point that she loves to jump in the deep end and swim to the bottom to collect her pool toys that we bought for her. She has the confidence to swim unaided now and we can't keep her out the pool, to a point she asks to go everyday. We would highly recommend Tom as an instructor.

For a small city's rec center they are pretty well organized. I attend the Zumba classes weekly- both Wednesdays and Fridays. They offer a drop-in rate so you can try it out and pay as you go if you're nervous about starting the class. Lyn is the best and always keeps your heart rate up during the hour, and even if she misses a step she is always back on beat and keeping the rhythm. Belly dance with Mavi is a lot of fun, towards the end she let us wear huge gypsy skirts to dance with and brought veils as well. The fitness center is small, but has everything you need. Haven't used the pool, but my niece and nephew loved it. Most days are open gym- so you can come in and play basketball or volleyball. A lot of people come just to walk or run the track. The staff is very friendly and willing to help with all problems. Lost my keys as I was coming in to Zumba, and one of the staff members had them waiting for me once class was over. Looking forward to starting Tai Chi class next week!

It's the least expensive around for indoor swim lessons, and my daughter did enjoy it, though the teachers are kind of awful. It seems to be primarily high school students which teach the classes, which is fine (particularly for the price); they have a very high student to teacher ratio, though the majority of the girls who are teachers spend nearly the entire half hour just kind of staring into space or chatting amongst themselves. They also have open swim on Fridays from 4-7pm which is (for non residents) $5 per child and $10 for adults.
