My grandson has attended the school and until Tuesday have been pleased with progress and the staff. unfortunately Tuesday there was an incident with another student bloody nose. the child was allowed back into pool 4 times the child also bled on the pool deck. one staff member did spay and wipe the pool deck however the blood was already in the pool. removed my grandchild from pool and spoke to owner Rob who did not seem concerned so I have withdrawn from the school due to lack of concern over safety for the children by ownership I would be very concerned with lack of health concerns read more

Even one star feels generous. The StarBaby program DOES NOT teach children how to swim. If you want to know what kind of business this is, read the responses to reviews. Never accountable, its always someone else's fault. I waited a few months to leave this review, but I think prospective customers should be aware. I was told that my credit card would be billed only for four lessons, $120. I brought up my concerns of leaving my credit card on file, as we only wanted four lessons to start. I was told clearly I would only be charged for the four lessons. They continued charging me after the four lessons and would not refund us. They also charged my card for purchases not made by my family, and only when I brought printed out bank statements did they acknowledge their mistake. They blame customers very often and I have not seen any flexibility. Overall, the facility is constantly falling apart. Paint chipping from the walls left on the floor, used bandaids on the floor, hair clumps around the pool, constant slippery puddles, rusty water fountains and showers that don't work. They've cut every possible corner to save cents. During our four lessons the swimming pool area was over 100 degrees, the windows were fogged beyond view and the temperature change to the locker room was at least 50 degrees difference. The showers constantly shift from boiling to freezing, there are no water bottle refill stations (only water bottles for sale) and the changing area curtains do not properly close. I paid an obscene amount for private lessons for my autistic son and watched an untrained instructor wrestle with my son for twenty minutes. Not a single aquatic skill taught. We rearranged our schedules for makeup classes, not an easy task, only for them to be cancelled for pool cleaning. I understand accidents happen, but with such limited extra time they should give refunds or have some other policy in place. When I suggested this I was flatly told, "You agreed to the policy when you signed up". Overall, I would not recommend this swim school. They will try to squeeze every cent they can from customers, they are so rigid on the skills to keep your child in the same level for longer and there is never accountability for their mistakes. The StarBaby program does not teach your child how to swim. You can dunk them underwater, sing songs and back float in your bathtub for the same experience. We were there for a month and watched the prices increase constantly. I strongly believe the only reason they have such a high score of reviews is because they delete bad reviews! read more

When I was 8, I got to join Chicago Swim School, along with my sister. When we arrived, the staff was very kind, and attentive to our needs. Then, we arrived in pool. The water was extremely clean and perfectly warm. The teachers was very nice and helpful, and were open to any question. Also, I am planned to join again soon. This place is a very money hungry establishment. We have had multiple classes cancelled due to accidents or pool heater malfunctions and not notified. I drove thirty minutes to find out class was cancelled and non refundable. I called to speak to the manger and the manager wouldn't even talk to me she had to communicate to me through another employee. I'm disappointed because my son loves swimming here but I feel taken advantage of. This place is overpriced and only cares about your money. From everything I have learned about this place I recommend finding a different swim school. the administration is one of the most inept I have ever witnessed. By not listening to the actual teachers and instead playing favorites, to people that do not deserve their positions, who in their right mind would choose to send their children here when they are not getting the best possible service? Our kids had been swimming at another school and decided to enroll one of our kids in this one as it was closer to us. After only his 4th lesson he's already doing much better and more confident than our last place! So excited for him, he cant wait for summer! read more

We were really excited to hear that CSS opened up a location in Mokena! Our little man has been in the StarBaby class for about 3 months now and we can tell he loves going to swim class. They teach the little ones the basic skills of swimming as well as skills to help in the event of a dangerous situation (god forbid). They teach the babes to flip over and float on their backs and head for the ledge if they were to fall into water/a pool. Do NOT go to swim classes at this place. I took my two small kids there. I called and had a 15 minute conversation with a woman to cancel our membership. She said "you're all cancelled, we hope to see you back soon!" A month later, they charge me again. I paid for an entire month of classes that we didn't even attend because you need to cancel by the 20th, so I paid for that because that was my fault for not cancelling before the 20th but theres no way I'm paying another month for classes I won't be attending when I had already CANCELLED on the 27th, over a month prior! The manager says that after I had the 15 minute conversation and cancelled they then emailed me another cancellation thing I needed to do. Well that's not what the employee told me over the phone! It's such a scam. My biggest reasons for canceling.. 1. We have a pool, we planned on going back when pool season ends 2. We show up to class one day with our 2 year old and 9 month old to find a note on the door saying class has been cancelled. No one could have called us to say class was cancelled before we loaded up 2 kids and all of their swim stuff?! Any parent out there knows the struggle of loading up kids to go anywhere. Did we complain and make any demands? No but I'm sure other people did 3. We had told them on a few occasions how hot the water is in the showers that are in the locker room. There's only one temp on the showers when you turn them on and they are super hot so don't plan on having your kids shower after swim class unless they are okay with really hot water. We told them about this on a couple occasions and nothing was ever done. We have also gone to Bear Paddle when our oldest was 6 months old, we will definitely be going back to Bear Paddle when we resume classes. The only reason we transferred was because we live in Mokena and wanted to try out a new place. read more

The customer service is amazing, from the time you walk in to the time your child is in the pool . They sure do hire people who enjoy what they are doing and it shows! We had Mr. Orlando who was just great and cared for all his students and treat all of them fantastic! read more

This school is really bad stay away from it. Most their employees are lazy and don't want to do anything. Billing is a big mess! a lot of errors in charging credit card and you can't get a straight answer about how much they will charge next month. Even when they send you the e-mail about charging the credit card, they don't provide a breakdown of the charges. read more

My daughters have been attending Chicago Swim School for 1 year. That said, I have a solid experience with this establishment. For all parents please read the fine print and be aware you are only allowed to reschedule 1 class per month. If you need to reschedule a second class during the same month Chicago Swim School charges and additional $14. This was never made known to me until I needed to reschedule a second class during the same month. Based on principle alone I do not believe I should pay this fee. When I spoke to Shalise (pardon my spelling) and later the location manager, they both refused in the most unprofessional way to dismiss my point of view. They were rude and obviously did not care for our year long business. On occasion the school has closed their pool due to safety reasons and I have never complained...there was one month they closed twice and again I did not complain. If they wish to loose our year long business for a $14 fee then so it is. I will be sure to let everyone I know exactly how I feel about Chicago Swim School. My positive compliments are for Taylor & Mallory who work in the evenings at the front desk...they are wonderful and should be considered for a promotion as they have a very professional business etiquette. we transferred to this swim school from another school just to try something different. my son was previously swimming a half length of the pool freestyle, backstroke, and just starting butterfly. I was told at CSC he'd be "evaluated" during his first lesson. He has even after 5 weeks never been "evaluated". they never at all asked him to show them what he can do and they have no clue he can swim free and back...all he's done is kick on his side and fetch rings! last weeks lesson was my last straw and I cancelled him as in the first 7 minutes of the class he kicked the length of his little mini lane down and back once. then the last 12 minutes (yes I said 12) he stood on the wall the ENTIRE time literally doing nothing except fetch for rings once and get thrown in the water once...all while the on deck woman watched the instructor try to pass another kid. I understand this is appropriate for 2 year olds but not a school age child that has been swimming for 2 years already! this is ridiculous for any child to do nothing for 12 minutes in an only 30 minute lesson. complete waste of money. read more
