A HORRIBLE experience! I will lay out all the facts. First, our house was supposed to be listed before Super Bowl Sunday in 2017 (2/3). They were not organized enough to get a photographer out and have the listing prepared until 2/14/17. There were no pre-listing Facebook posts. I had a bin delivered for shoe covers, but after 4 months and a dozen requests, I have yet to receive any. Our house went under contract after the first showing. Great news, right? No! The attorney, who was hired by the realtor, acted unilaterally, and emailed the sellers in an aggressive tone that led them to withdraw the contract. Our realtor admitted calling the buyer's agent, yelling, and told her to get S#!& together. We had no chance of salvaging the contract. From February until May, we had a total of six showings. There were two open houses with no marketing and no attendees. Discussions began in Early May to possible separate and go our direction amicably. As the deadline of May 22nd arrived, the Realtor agreed to remove the listing. After several professional and courteous emails were sent to make sure the contract was terminated, I received a text from the Realtor. The text was an extortion attempt demanding I pay her cash in exchange for removing the listing (for photos). The quote from the text "You signed an agreement and I can hold you to this. I won't do that if you pay me $235. You can't move forward until I release your listing." On May25th, my agent in another state where I am buying another house, called the listing realtor here and agreed to pay her the extortion amount. The realtor agreed to cancel immediately and wait for the payment. At 11:45am, I received a text from the realtor. She said there is a showing scheduled in 15 minutes, even though the listing was supposed to be closed. When the people arrived for the showing, I asked him (the buyers realtor) if he was sent directly from my agent. He said he was sent by her and that his buyers weren't at our price range. I contacted the realtor and asked why the listing wasn't canceled. She said "It's not coming down until I get my money". As of May 25th, I am locked in a contract with an agent that is trying to extort me. My listing clearly cannot be marketed with trust, yet I can also not move forward. I would never wish this situation on anyone. I am currently reviewing my options regarding ethics complaints, damages, social media and criminal extortion. Wish me luck. read more
