I picked this hotel based on location, I wanted to near my company's office, but also near Schaumburg. I made an excellent choice. Located right off I-90, this hotel is so clean and beautiful. One doesn't expect luxury accommodations at a Marriott, but there is a minimal standard of consistency this location flunks completely. I stayed here over Labor Day weekend for a wedding. The rates are very high considering this is in a far-flung suburb. Breakfast is dismal and we didn't try after the first day. Rock-hard waffles, stiff scrambled eggs, potatoes field in rancid oil, stale fruit. One of the breakfast muffins seemed to have spots of mold on it. The standard of cleaning in the rooms is also substandard - sheets and allegedly clean towels had questionable smears on them. As usual with Marriott's purportedly premium brands, Internet access is an added-cost option. Hurray for cellular 4G! The only saving grace is the personnel are pleasant, just not very competent. read more

We immediately booked this hotel for a room block after meeting with their sales and catering manager, Gina Engler. She is amazing! Their room block is user-friendly and flexible. We were able to add a few extra rooms for our last-minute booking guests. The location is convenient, right off of I-90 and very near many bars, restaurants, salons, shops, movies, and bowling in the Hoffman Estates/Barrington area. It was 15 minutes from our wedding venue. It's a gorgeous hotel. The pool/workout room is very nice. They have a good breakfast buffet. The hotel contracts with a shuttle to transport our guests to the wedding. They were AWESOME! They added an extra shuttle at the end of the wedding, since so many guests stayed until the end. The temperature and blinds in the rooms were a bit off. The sun would wake us up at 4 a.m., and we couldn't figure out the blinds to close them all the way. However, I may've slept more soundly if it hadn't been my wedding weekend and I wasn't full of adrenaline. The only minor disappointment was that when we booked our block, we were told that the bar would be open until 1 a.m., for any guests who wanted an after-party. We found out during the wedding weekend that it was closing at 10 p.m. due to the hotel being quiet during a holiday weekend. So we were not able to have an after-party, but the staff were very pleasant and allowed our guests to mingle in the atrium. Very nice hotel, HUGE shout-out to Gina. read more

This was a nice place to stay. Room was spacious. There were nice toiletries. Great view from room. Beautiful lobby. There was a mix up when I arrived. Although it could not be resolved they were flexible. They wanted to be sure that I was fine with everything. I was given a list of restaurants in the area, For shopping The Arboretum is close by as well as The Poplar Creek shopping area. Woodfield is just a short drive away. It would have been nice to have a fridge in the room. Bed was comfortable with pillows to spare. Beautiful shower area with clear glass. I would return for another getaway. read more

Decent hotel from a full-service Marriott standpoint. The renovated bathrooms are really a stand-out in this far-flung suburban hotel. The rest of the furnishings could use an update to match the very contemporary bathrooms, but I'm sure that will come in time. If I could ask for one improvement it would be from the front desk staff. One person in particular was less than helpful when I checked in. I stay at Marriott's frequently and prefer a particular type of room: King bed, high floor away from the elevator. Now, in life we don't always get what we want. 1 out 3 would be acceptable, 0 for 3 is not. Then when I asked her to add my Marriott Rewards number to the reservation she almost refused, cut me off mid-sentence twice and was just plain rude. It didn't make for a good start to my stay when I had been on the road all day. I'm making lemonade out of lemons and staying out of my room as much as possible (our company is holding meetings here for three days). Sitting here writing this review listening to the elevators go up and down through the wall in my room with double beds on a low floor makes me want to get out of here. read more

Second time to eat here. This was easy. What a great restaurant. No need to leave the Marriott and risk disappointment. I had the bone in ribeye and it was perfect. Folks, I eat a lot of steak and if you're in the mood for a great steak this is the place. They use a tasty rub and I ordered mine medium rare + and it was perfect. Chief Jonathan and his crew are great They also have a large selection of bourbon at the bar as well as some good local craft beers. The bartenders are very nice and provide excellent service. The staff is really personable and I thought they went the extra mile for everything. We have a toddler and ordered a crib/pack and play and it was clean and in perfect shape. The pool and fitness center were nice. I liked the newly renovated bathrooms in the guest rooms. Really sharp! We had a smooth check-in and there is a neat lobby. Chifea and Molly made our stay more comfortable and a lot of fun! read more

I was here for a wedding over the weekend. Everything was great. Beautiful hotel. Extremely comfy beds. The pillows alone would make the hotel 5 stars in my opinion. I asked when I checked in whether the pillows had feathers or foam and was told they had foam. I was asked whether I had allergies to feathers, and I said I did plus feather pillows quickly squish down flat and foam tended to hold their shape better. Was informed on the website that our room had a tub and shower. Checked into the room and went to bath, only to find only a shower. When I stepped into the shower my foot immediately slid and I was able to catch myself. The floor to the shower is very slick and only got more slippery as I began to use soap and shampoo. I nearly fell several times and tried to stand as still as possible to avoid falling. This is a huge safety issue. When I got out of the shower I called the front desk to let them know how slick the shower floor was, what a hazard that was, and to ask if they had rubber shower mats. The first two people I spoke with expressed no concern over the slippery shower floor and no concern that I nearly fell. They didn't take the problem seriously and took no ownership to pass the information along. The first didn't know if they had rubber mats; the second said they didn't and passed me off to an asst. manager. He said the hotel doesn't have shower mats and after I urged him to inform the corporate office about how much of a hazard this was he said he would; I urged him to take off his shoes and socks and discover for himself just how slick that floor is. Shower floors should have rough surfaces or shower mats to prevent falls. I have good balance; I can't imagine how dangerous this would be for someone who is elderly, has balance issues, and/or has had a few alcoholic drinks. We did discover that showering in our rubber flip flops helped, but not everyone travels with those and it isn't easy to properly scrub feet with them on. When I got in bed I discovered that the pillows did in fact have feathers in them and they quickly flattened into practically nothing. So the front desk clerk either lied or doesn't know his hotel (and should have checked out what he didn't know). After calling down to the desk, a few foam pillows were sent up that were obviously old and were flatter than the feather pillows so I didn't take them. I was barely able to sleep for two nights and got up with a sore neck and sore back (because I use pillows between my knees to support my lower back) both days. We should be able to shower safety and sleep in comfort in a hotel, especially one as nice as this one is supposed to be. And we should be able to receive good customer service, which this hotel is also severely lacking in. I'd never stay here again and I can't recommend that you do, either. If I could give them zero stars I would. read more

Recently stayed overnight for a wedding venue. The positives - Room was very nice but not what I requested, liked the 7th floor view, hotel was clean. The negatives - It was myself and BFF, I requested a 2 Queen room upon checking in they gave me 1 King Bed, they said that they didn't guarantee requests, unacceptable for a hotel of this size. No Bell person to transport bags to room for you. Since they do local wedding events this is a no-no. read more

This hotel can be seen from a distance, off the highway and off of Barrington Rd. But don't be fooled by what you see. This hotel is actually a far way off and you'll definitely be doing a lot of driving on the inner roads before you actually reach this hotel. But once you make your way there, you will definitely be impressed with the decor and upkeep of this hotel. They have a beautiful fountain and lots of greenery in the lobby of the hotel. And the service and staff here are excellent. All the rooms are clean and well-kept. There really isn't much to do in the surrounding area -- but this hotel offers a lot to keep you busy -- an indoor pool, a fitness room, and internet! read more

October 21st- October 22nd 2017 I made reservations for me and my boyfriend for sweetest day. This stay was far from sweet, in fact it was full of Sour and Ribaldry to say the least! When I arrived I was haulted at least 15 minutes because apparently no one could find my reservations which were made through booking.com. The manager who's name I believe was Daniel finally found it. Then I asked where was my breakfast coupons that came with my reservation? This caused another delay even after they requested proof from my personal email. The manager scrolled through my email a couple of times with it clear as DAY that breakfast was included! I deliver mail for a living!  Thirteen hour day shift to be standing there at Marriott's Check in counter as if we were fraudulent guests!  I've never felt so unwelcomed!  But I was still trying to make the best of this as it was for my boyfriend not so much my special occasion. My room reservation description said King room with sofa bed. We went to our room there was a king bed no sofa bed but a lone chair?  No microwave either?  Hmmm... So that's when I also was advised the inconvenience of there only being one dedicated PUBLIC microwave in the entire 8 floor hotel!  Which I had a home cooked meal for this occasion. The next morning came and I checked my bank records as I always do after making a transaction and the email confirmation total of $168 was now $199.25 plus $30 more?!  So clearly there was a typo so I calmly called the front desk to inquire and whatever gentlemen answered the phone was very condescending and rude and accused me of ordering room service and added and I quote "Obviously it's incidentals included in that!" I went in person to the counter and asked to whom was I speaking with?  No one stepped up to the plate no one identified themselves. I was approached by Daniel again and I showed him the email as well as my bank itemized deductions from Marriott and he also was perplexed as to why the charges was different!  I told him I was very offended at the way I was talked to and demanded the corporate contact info and the name of the person who spoke to me in a curt manner. I was denied all of this information. I have been playing phone tag ever since. At this point I have been completely turned off by Marriott as a whole and an very disheartened that my choice of hotel stay for a special occasion was nothing short of a nightmare on ELM STREET! Very over priced never EVER AGAIN! read more

Just trying to get a quick buck. No free wifi, no complementary breakfast. I've stayed in cheaper hotels and they at least have free wifi. I had to do homework over the weekend and to my shock the wifi wasn't free. Never staying at A Marriott again. For 40 dollars less I could of stayed at a nearby hotel with free wifi and breakfast. The room was decent, has a fridge, but my room smelled like smoke. One of my friends came into my room and said, "wow I didn't know you smoked." I don't smoke and that was the last straw for me. That's why I wrote this bad review. STAY AWAY! There are better options nearby. PS I'm using my data to write this review. read more

Our stay here was great. Ivy at the front desk was very nice and helpful. She gave great suggestions on things to do and where to eat. The only thing that stopped this from being a 5 star review was the service at the wedding reception. We had placed our orders well in advance for our meals and when the meals came out everyone got their food except myself. Then the server comes over and says they don't have the steak I ordered that all they had was chicken or fish. How do you not have enough food for a wedding especially if you had the orders ahead of time! So I got stuck with a dry piece of chicken. The manager Sandy wasn't very sympathetic about it either and didn't do anything to make it right. This is an error that should have never happened. I wish we could have given this a 5 star review but the banquet service was really unacceptable. read more

The next night, in another part of Chicago, stayed in a Marriott property--not nearly as nice as this hotel. I booked this hotel using a third party app. There was an issue upon check in but a manager got involved and resolved the issue in a professional manner. However, later in the day when trying to get in the room, the key was disabled. When I went to the front desk, I was "greeted" by a front desk clerk with an accusatory tone that I had used a fraudulent credit card. Of course that was not the case as I presented the credit card that was used. Instead of apologizing to me for the inconvenience, he proceeded to state they will never use the third party vendor. Again, making me, his customer, to feel like I did something wrong. Not my problem their hotel advertised with a third party vendor. While I will never stay at this hotel again since I was here for a wedding and most likely won't be in the area again, this particular hotel staff did a disservice to the Marriott brand. In the future when booking a hotel, this experience may determine my decision to book with one of Marriott's competitors even though we've been long time Starwood members (bonvoy). Went here for a wedding over the Summer. The hotel was nice, but not spectacular. Not what I'd expect from a Marriott. The room was dated and so was the awful restaurant decor. The front desk staff was nice for the most part. I do have to say I overheard a girl with a name tag (employee) using a racial slur near the washrooms in the lobby which was disgusting. The pool and gym were nice and clean. Overall, an okay experience but I'd go to the Schaumburg Marriott that is more updated and close to restaurants and shopping. Oh, and internet was not free which seems very silly. Most hotels do not charge for that. read more

Went here for Easter brunch. A relatively new place I think and the wait staff and hostess were great; friendly and very accomodating. The brunch was nice & a bit different which was nice. They had a station for Stir Fry, bananas foster station and a chocolate fountain. You were able to dip fresh pineapple chunks and strawberries, graham crackers, cookies, etc. Very nice! My fiance and I met with Chris to look at the Marriott for a wedding reception. They are unique from the hotels we visited in that we would be the only wedding held there. a hospitality room for the bridal party was also included. We did not book our reception there (we wanted a different look), but we were very impressed with Chris. He was very attentive but not pushy, and seemed to care very much about what we wanted as a couple. My son and I stayed at this hotel with the rest of the teams in our club organization for a tournament in the area. EVERYTHING was perfect but for the billing - - Even though our stay was fully paid for with a Marriott gift card in advance, and the front desk stated that they would not bill for incidentals, my debit card was charged for the entire. Now, the staff at the front desk, Molly, Jennifer and Jordan were very nice and very apologetic and tried everything they could think of to rectify the situation. Although the were not able to fix the matter at the time, my account was straightened out and things were taken care of to my satisfaction. I held my wedding ceremony here this past weekend. Everyone loved how beautiful the ceremony was, but there were a few aspects that upset me. My contract told me that I had the space until 4 pm and as soon as my ceremony ended (at 230) the workers started tearing stuff down so I had to deal with that so I could take my pictures in the space I paid for. Also, I originally started working with Gina who left mid through to have a baby and when her replacement came in she informed me a month before my wedding that we couldn't use the bar when we came back from my wedding due to a private party (which I had told all my wedding guests prior to that there was a bar to hang out at after). Apparently Gina had forgotten to mention that earlier to me. I was also told that during our first kiss the fountain would be turned on to make great pictures but it never got turned on. Beautiful ceremony location, great rooms to sleep in, but miscommunications and impersonal staff. read more

This hotel is AWFUL!!! We stayed for my daughter's cheer competition. Upon arrival they put us in a King room even though we had 2 children with us and I booked for a double bed room on Oct 1st. The front desk staff Andrew and his "manager " Mike were rude from the get go. Than they fail to tell you that you have a 50$ charge automatically added to card. The room was dated with the exception from bathroom, food was awful and wifi is 10$ a day what a joke!! We were going to stay the 2nd night only so kids could swim and low and behold pool was closed at 4pm for someone getting sick supposedly and won't be open until 7am!! So I was furious and the "manager " and I use that word loosely wasn't helpful except refunding for the night and saying we could leave and find another hotel! So now we are on our way home I'm very pissed and will be calling corporate Mon! Stay away from this place, go 5 mins down road to a nice hotel.
