Are you a hockey fan, but can't be bothered with necking it out for a Hawks ticket? Or you find yourself not in the mood to catch a Wolves game. Welcome to the world of the ECHL where anything is possible. The Sears Centre is home to a new hockey club (Chicago Express) where if you want to hear the slashing sounds on the ice or the roaring whistle of a train as a goal is scored; you are more than welcome. Chicago has been lucky enough to be granted with three levels of professional hockey and this is definitely no exception. An Affiliate of the NHL's Blue Jackets, the Express skate with determination and skill that make it perfect to watch while they are growing as professional players. The venue itself isn't overly large and offers pretty much a decent seat from both sides of the rink. The Sears Centre suits the bill for holding the sounds of the ice and the crowd without making you think there could be a concert the next night. Because the Express club is still so fresh and so clean, seats are readily available for every game. We're talking, if you wanted to be bangin' on the glass come this Saturday (or when the next home game is) you'll probably find out that your luck--is in tact. For this particular outing, I ended up sitting rows behind the benches for which I have to admit...I am skeptical and should have opted for the other side but couldn't for the life of me get the ticket site figured out. Ten rows up from the ice is still a pretty sweet view--even if you're somewhat behind the benches. The crowd has taken the Express to heart already which is very warming, because they are a brand new franchise. Loud cat calls, whistles and screams to skate to the center is something that will be of a common fixture for the night. Tickets are definitely affordable. To sit in the lower 100 level tickets start as low as $17, and sitting behind the glass if that is your fancy is only $25. For anyone in need of getting a hockey fix this is a great option to choose from. Parking itself is standard for the Centre, look to spend about $10 to park easily across the way from the arena entrance. read more

We came here with our 2 year old and some friends and had a good time. They have so much to do for the kids..train rides, hats, music, intermission activities. It's great for those that can't (or won't ) pay the crazy amount for a Hawks ticket and it's close by. The game was a bit like a high school game but it was still entertaining and you can't beat $1 beers and $1 hot dogs on Fridays. Overall it's something fun to do on a Friday night. read more

You park at one of the high schools, and the shuttle will transport you to the festival. Shuttles run so frequently that every time I've gone I've never had to wait for one. The festival also has free admission! The only thing you have to pay for is food, drinks, and games. The concerts are also free to listen to. We come here every year and it's definitely worth the trip. The food options change every year, and we haven't been disappointed yet. Everything is delicious and we get try different cuisines without committing to going to the restaurant.

Multiple food vendors although some of them didn't accept credit cards? I ended up getting fried Oreos from another vendor and it was delicious. They were soft and the Oreos just melted in your mouth. Not overly sweet. It was $6 for 4 pieces. You also have the overpriced carnival games. Parking was organized with cops directing traffic. It was a short walk. This is a good place for families but the cost can add up.

This theatre is a hidden gem…read more It's tucked away in Carpentersville and the large marquee that used to show the current films has been decimated by damaging storms over the past few years. And though Classic Cinemas (CC) is a smaller chain, it doesn't mean you're getting less of an experience. I've been here about 3 times in the last two months and I've been very happy with my experience. First... when they say $5 Tuesday, they mean $5 flat, tax included. It is an absolute steal. The theaters have been equipped with reclining leather seats, but one unique feature is that they have built-in seat warmers with two levels of heat! If you're wearing pants or jeans, it's not super strong, but it's still warm enough to keep you from getting cold in the theater. The seats are very comfortable. Second... if you're like me and you can't help but get some popcorn and a drink sometimes, the prices here are way cheaper than in the big chains. I may have to edit this review if I'm off a bit, but from memory... popcorn was like $7/$6/$5 with unlimited refills and drinks were like $5.50/$5.00/$4.50 and also unlimited. One of the times I went, the person working the popcorn machine asked if I wanted butter and when I responded in the affirmative they said, "I got you!" This person then added a scoop of popcorn, then butter, then another scoop of popcorn, followed again by another generous amount of butter, and so on until the bucket was full... the result of which was the best bucket of movie popcorn I have ever eaten. Sadly, when I returned the following week, there was someone else working and when I asked for butter, they pointed to the kiosk behind me and said, "It's over there." So I guess it was a one-time moment of kindness. If you're the employee who likes buttering the popcorn behind the counter and you're reading this, kudos to you! The only reason for 4 stars is that it's not stadium seating, which isn't bad unless the people in front of you need to go to the bathroom frequently. Also, I haven't tried the XQ theater for the ultimate experience, so maybe after that, I'll bring it up to 5.
