This is at an intersection and you would never think of stopping, but you should. You have to love hotdogs though. That is what they have, real dogs. When I go to Chicago and buy from a street vendor I get this same style of dog as here. You gotta love it. You get the peppers, onions, tomatoes, and a pickle spear all on a poppyseed bun. No fries or tots to be found here just good dogs. I think a little pricy for a hot dog but now a days what can you expect. read more

Pretty close to what you get in Chicago. Half loaded is still spilling.out of bun. Only outdoor seating. Fixed concrete tables. read more

With tip & tax, $26 for a Chicago dog and polish sausage. I was shocked at the price. The hot dog was very small and the tomato and cucumber were flavorless and cut in too big of chunks. I was very disappointed. The polish sausage was just ok. For the money, we could have had fast food with a drink and French fries included. read more

WORST chili dog ever! No flavor they hyped it up like it was a big hotdog and it's tiny. Never I repeat never going back. $30 dollars for two dogs and two tiny ass drinks! read more

My husband loves Chicago hotdogs and was so excited this stand was directly across our hotel. We literally walked across and got 2 Chicago dogs and 1 frito pie. He said the hot dogs were legit. I expected a frito bag with chili poured into it and a fork. But it was in a container. I also got "Christmas" chili which is red and green peppers. I had them hold the cheese but added onions. It was steamy and delicious which hit the spot because it was pretty chilly in Santa Fe at high noon if you weren't in the sun. We talked to some ladies next to us who were locals and they said they always go there for their hot dogs. We also had lime soda which had a Route 66 label. Pretty cool. read more

Chicago Dog Express - Chicago dog and frito pie (no cheese) - Hot Dogs Near Me - Santa Fe, New Mexico

Best hotdogs in Santa Fe! Pretty much every possible option. The buns are always fresh and soft. The service is both friendly and speedy. There's even a veggie option. Only thing I'd change - wish they were open weekends! (Because it's that good!) read more

Are these guys still assholes about wearing masks? I remember they were still vigilantly enforcing the mask mandate well after it was ended in the state. Food was ok. Unusually priced for hot dogs. read more

I grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, and you'd think it would be easy to find a hot dog there. Big city, right? Should be a simple request. So, the first time I visited Santa Fe, about 15 years ago, I was happy to stop by the Chicago Dog Express while waiting for my hotel room to be ready. Now, as a resident of Santa Fe, I am still happy to be able to go to this cute little place and sit outdoors and enjoy one of life's simple pleasures -- a hot dog! The Chicago Dog is my fave, and the name of this place shows that is definitely their focus. Everything about it is perfect -- the combination of peppers, pickle and mustard. It's the perfect dog, and 1/2 loaded does the trick, although you can get a fully loaded version which is twice the amount of toppings. This place is a sit outside or take with you, and it's a great lunch location right downtown Santa Fe. So the next tiime you are in Santa Fe and looking for a hot dog, or just a quick lunch with lots of yummy goodness, stop by here! I used to joke that I had to get out of DFW to find a good hot dog, so I would drive almost 10 hours for the pleasure. Now I don't have to do that, but if you are from Fort Worth, and you like hot dogs, you'll understand my review. read more

Chicago Dog appeared out of traffic like an oasis in the desert.?Thank goodness it was not a mirage! This is a great Vienna beef hotdog place. I can only give four stars because they offer ketchup on their hotdogs. In fact, on the "plain" dog, the first thing listed is ketchup. Ketchup! No self-respecting adult Vienna beef hot dog lover would allow ketchup anywhere near their dog! That they even offer it first is a crime against hotdogs. I inquired of the woman taking my order why ketchup"? She said, "it's the wild west and anything goes." My response was not when it comes to Chicago Vienna beef hotdogs. She admitted that there used to be a sign in the bathroom indicating Ketchup is only ok if you are under 17 but thinks it is gone. Would I come back? Absolutely but will be a smidge sad when ketchup is offered. read more

Hey this is a great spot to grab lunch and sit outside on the shady patio. For the one star reviews complaining about masks, seriously? Private businesses have the right to do what they like, and to keep their employees safe, they e asked for masks when ordering, it's seriously not a big deal. Chicago dog was delicious, I got half loaded toppings and the veggies were fresh and complemented the hot dog perfectly. The large dog and a small drink, less than 10 bucks! You won't find a delicious lunch many places for less than $10, but this spot delivers! read more

They are the best! The dogs are always tasty. I recommend, without end, the Santa Fe Dog, green. Chile is tasty, without being over bearing, and the all beef hot dog is exceptional. The staff is awesome. Always kind, fun, and expeditious. They always make sure you have your "weapons" (plastic utensils for the uninitiated) when needed. Highly recommend. read more

The most mouth watering snap in your mouth scrumptious Vienna Beef (VB) hotdog. Hotdog lovers, imagine a perfectly cooked VB hot dog that almost sounds like an elastic band as it cracks between your teeth..; now, splattered with pickles, sport peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and mustard bursting in your mouth with every bite; now, nestled on a poppyseed bun. My picture here shows a "tortured" dog. Just tortured deliciousness. Thanks for reading. Avram M.E. note: no "dog" was unintentionally harmed for the making of this story..:) read more

Excellent Food every time... This spot is a must for those visiting Santa Fe. Typically very busy at lunch but worth the wait.

Two reasons you should not waste your time visiting this place. 1. Hot dogs are the farthest thing from actual Chicago dogs and overpriced for what you're getting. The vegetables put on the hot dogs are not fresh. It is a shame that this place claims the name "Chicago" yet doesn't match the same quality in product or service (The staff is not from Chicago and this not an authentic business). I would not advise eating here as it will ruin your experience with Chicago dogs. 2. Staff are extremely unprofessional and still demand that customers wear masks while ordering OUTSIDE (if you don't have a mask they offer to sell you one for $1). This establishment is completely outside and if you're vaccinated you do not have to wear a mask outside per CDC guidelines. I understand that a business can refuse service/ have a mask rule. But the fact that INDOOR restaurants in the same area allow customers to not wear masks if vaccinated shows how unreasonable this rule is. This business should update their policy on masks with respect to vaccinations as most businesses throughout the country have and treat people with respect. The hot dogs miss the mark for being Chicago dogs, are overpriced, and if you believe in people treating others with respect I would encourage you to stand up and not support an establishment that treats people terribly and has no rational basis for requiring people to wear masks outside. It starts with people standing up and not supporting businesses that impose their archaic rules and biased opinions on others. read more

Stopped here yesterday after craving a good dawg for a few weeks. Could have cooked one at home, but we know dawgs always taste better when prepared by someone else. Why is that? A dog gone conspiracy? Anyway, we both had the Santa Fe Dog - I had mine with red Chile only and my bf had his Christmas style. On a cold and windy day, the SFDs warmed us right up and filled our pie holes. Give the place a try. We'll be back to try the other menu items, including their frito pies. Happy eating! read more

There are hot dog places and there are institutions. Chicago Dog falls into the latter category. While their big, meaty hot dogs are top dog in Santa Fe, even with the onslaught of burger joints in the area, their green chile breakfast burritos are the best breakfast item to be had in Santa Fe. They also do a wicked Frito pie, another local fave. Although you should be warned: Green chile are highly addictive and you will be back. In fact it is their New Mexican red and green chile recipes that go toe-to-toe with mama's best, and are worthy fare for local or tourist alike. New Mexico red may be a more acquired taste for the East Coast curious. Try the green if you spend most of your days East of the Pecos. read more

Chicago Dog Express - Hot Dogs Near Me - Santa Fe, New Mexico

Just to note: I absolutely love their Chicago style with polish sausage dog: my favorite of all times. And, I have been going to this place at least for 20 years, always ordering the same thing: a Chicago with Polish Sausage. The last two out of three times I've gone however, their memory seems to lapse from the counter to the three feet it takes to prepare the dog-- they give me a beef hot dog. And today when I ordered, I even confirmed with the order taker: "this is polish sausage, right?" She says: "yes, of course." So, I went back to my car to eat it since their tables are currently closed to the public, opened it up and it was beef hot dog. Damn it! What's sad is that given the COVID situation, we don't go out at all hardly to eat, and I really wanted a good Chicago Polish Sausage dog. I simply gave it back to them and told them to keep it; I walked away. It's not like it's inexpensive: The dog with a small Ice tea was over $11.00. What's up with you guys? Come on, I don't ask for much--just get the order right; should be fairly simple--since your menu is quite limited. Please. read more

No bull... just quality dogs. Sitting outside in the beautiful southwest with some dogs on a new mexican bent. The "sporting" peppers remind me of those kids in school that were pretty good kids, but then they started hanging out with the Mexicans and all of a sudden your sweet little pickled peppers got naughty! The Frito pie is the best I've ever had... get the Christmas 'cause their red chile is the best, but you know you always need to try the green. This place will not disappoint. read more

Chicago Dog Express - from hawai'i to the sacred faith... the dog beckons - Hot Dogs Near Me - Santa Fe, New Mexico

I loves me a hot dog, and this outdoor seasonal hot dog stand would rival any other dog stand from NYC to Chicago... Or at least I hope it does, having never been to either other location. You can order polish sausage dogs and regular hot dogs and if the whim hits, you can even add a smattering of the local green chili favorite topping. I've never had a bad hot dog at this place, and I eat there all the time because it's like a block from my stately mansion. read more

Wow, open over ten years (longer?) and this is the 10th review? What's wrong with you people?? I am never at greater risk for inheriting the smorgasboard of obesity- and heart-related diseases which generously pepper both sides of my family than when I am grovelling, pocket change and`last crumpled bills to my name in-hand, at the humble wooden feet of the Chicago Dog Express stand. This is not so much a true outpost of the Chicago Dog as it is known and loved in its motherland as an EFFING DELICIOUS rendition by New Mexicans. The day that Vienna Beef met New Mexican chile should be a new sabbath. Go hungry, get a farking huge one (jumbo, fully loaded) and take what you can't eat home. You will eat it later, and you will love it just the same. side note: -Not- for the faint of colon, but you probably knew that already. read more

I was thoroughly glad to see this little shack across from my hotel and had to stop over. The staff, 3 women probably in the 20s, was super friendly. The have beef dogs, polish dogs, Frito pie, but also turkey dogs. I was recommended Chicago dog, which I took. It had diced tomatoes and a pickle speed, but also diced pickles too, it was good, on a sunny afternoon. They have breakfast too, I may try before I leave town. read more

Having grown up here in Santa Fe and also having spent at least part of every summer of my life in or passing through Chicago, I'd like to consider myself a bit of an expert on both this institution and Chicago dogs in general. While I can't say that this place is definitively authentic, I can say that they can sure make a hell of a hot dog. Sure, it's missing a few of the details of a real Chi town dog, but for a little stand in Santa Fe, you can't do much better. Also, green chile. These dogs aren't street-cart cheap, but they won't break the bank for what you get. read more

I'm from Chicago. This place is true to form (with a few substitutions). #1 we don't put cucumber on our hot dogs (get it without). # 2 everything should be on a poppy seed bun - yes, even the jumbos and the polish. Make those changes and you have yourself a great Chicago dog. Vienna beef is the way to go. read more

However, one item that people sleep on is the frito pie. I get this all the time. The best frito pie I have ever had hands down. Definitely recommend! read more

They advertise that it is the best hot dog in Santa Fe. I disagree. I think it must be the best hot dog in all New Mexico. A seriously artful and delicious creation that amazes. Yeah, I know it's "just a hot dog" to some but to those of us aficionados of the culinary masterpiece called the Chicago Hot Dog this is the epic. If this place were on Michigan Ave in Chicago there would be a line waiting to get in. If you like hotdogs this is the place for you.
