Since everyone is avoiding these places like the plague, service was quick and efficient and I was in and out faster than I hoped as there is so much to see with both the deli side and the butcher side. After reading the reviews I asked for a Montreal Smoked Meat sammie with Swiss and yellow mustard. To go with, I grabbed a peppers, olives and feta salad in a tub, and for dessert, a raisin butter tart. Even though the sammies are not over-priced, if you combine all that, it adds up to a few bucks. The sandwich was excellent! After reading the reviews, I expected a little more of the smoke meat piled high, but instead it had more of a reasonable amount. But omg, the bread stole the show! When I first perused the aisles, I noticed they carry Fred's bread, which I believe Healthy Butcher also sells. If you look at my photo, the bread slices look typical of any brand of mass-produced whole-wheat bread, nothing special. But the taste jumped out at me and over-powered the heavy sweetness of the meat and the tangy sourness of the mustard. Combined together it was heavenly. The salad was ok, can't go wrong with something basic like that and the butter tart was a perfect way to top off my lunch. Actually since I wasn't overly hungry that day I only ate half leaving the other half for later, which made me venture out for a slice, but hey, that's part of living downtown, it's just that convenient to stuff yourself.

Overall, we are very…read moresatisfied with the store -- the products are fresh, the selection is good, and there is plenty of variety. However, there is one issue that I believe management should pay serious attention to. Unfortunately, some cashiers can be not just unfriendly, but at times openly rude, hostile, and aggressive when dealing with customers at checkout. Basic courtesy is sometimes noticeably lacking. There have also been issues with the way questions or concerns regarding payments, discount cards, and payment cards are handled. Customers should be able to ask questions about a transaction without being met with irritation or an aggressive attitude. I want to emphasize that this does not apply to all cashiers. Many employees are perfectly pleasant and professional. However, there are certain cashiers whose rude and aggressive behaviour appears to be consistent rather than an isolated incident. As long-term customers, we enjoy shopping here and would like to continue doing so. I hope management will take this feedback seriously and ensure that all customers are treated with basic courtesy, patience, and respect.

Pizza, salads, sandwiches, burgers and pasta are just some items to name. I had the Bison burger combo and it was cooked perfectly. The burger was fresh with no filler. Fries were fresh cut and crispy (must use long potatoes since these fries were huge!). I still need to try the pizza, which looked fresh and had ingredients a plenty. It lost 1-star due to the price of my meal. Bison burger + fries + drink = $22. A bit steep when not in a sit-down restaurant setting. I shouldn't complain too much though, as the food from the surrounding chains or workplace cafeterias don't come close to the quality and taste.

Upon walking in, we veered right and strolled through the meats and butcher section. Prices were surprisingly reasonable for a boutique grocery, and my friend was very shocked to see so many Latin American goods. We were here for the burgers and we all ordered our share. I (amongst with many others) got the lamb burger. I usually like my burgers with all the fixins (cheese, bacon, pickles) but they would've definitely taken away from the fresh flavour of the lamb. The only thing I really missed was the onions - if I had an opportunity to add them, I definitely missed it, to my misfortune. Food was good for the price, but I was surprisingly not too stuffed after a burger and fries. Oh and the fries - they have great crispy thicc ROSEMARY fries, so definitely opt for those. We'd love to come again someday and get some meat as well - I saw proscuitto for less than $3/100g, which is cheaper than at my loblaws.

For some of the chocolates, crakers, etc. that I looked at it was difficult to discern what it was or tasted like. Many of the junk foods had pictures, but as they deal largely with imported European foods, the packages don't always have English on them - they often do, but not always. I settled on some crackers that said graham on them, but afterwards when I opened them up they didn't look or taste anything like our traditional western graham crackers. They didn't taste bad, but I include this point to signify the usefulness of English on the packages. I also purchased 200g of cheese. I couldn't read the languague on any of the cheeses so I asked a lady to pair a good cheese with my crackers... yes, I asked for a good cheese pairing with my graham crackers. I got some sheepish looks but given my question I think it was fair. I got 200g of a mild cheese and it tasted pretty good. I didn't recognize any cuts of meats that were chicken or turkey and so I didn't explore any of those offerings. It seemed like this was the busiest part of the store. If you don't speak the language many of the ladies use (I didn't recognize it) they do speak English and are helpful. I left with my cheese, graham crackers, some Sesame Snaps candy and the cost was a little over $8. Not bad considering 2 of the 3 items bought were imported.

We felt a real connection, and the store felt like part of the community, especially when it was the only halal meat shop with grass-fed and organic meat. But with the new store, and maybe new staff or a new attitude from the same people, we've been disgusted by their pressure-selling techniques and almost zero general customer service. Prices keep going up and up, and the amount of meat in each package keeps shrinking. There are almost no promotions, and when there are, they're sometimes ridiculous. My wife and I felt we were treated differently from other customers. On several visits, items like beef liver weren't offered to us, while we saw white customers being offered them and receiving much warmer service from the owner and his sons. After years of spending at least $600 every couple of months, this was very disappointing. My final thoughts on this place are very negative. There are now multiple very good stores with organic, grass-fed halal meat, especially online, with good, on-time delivery and regular promotions.
