The name reminded me of an incredible (sadly, now closed) restaurant close to my apt in Queens called Casa del Chef. As I approached La Table du Chef, I noticed the various accolades it had garnered and thought this would be the perfect place to have dinner. We stopped in without a reservation. I would not recommend doing this; for sure get a reservation, we got lucky. The place is lovely and the staff is sweet. The person helping us explained that there is no menu and what's served changes every day. We got some wine, sat back and awaited what would be our favorite meal of a two week trip to France.
