Sylva is amazing! I highly recommend her for electrolysis. She is so kind and attentive. She will go over the areas we are going to work on, including any requests that I have. She is very quick and covers a lot of area in each session. I have never had any ingrown hairs or damage to my skin afterward. And she always has little bags of ice for the way home, to help keep the swelling down. I have a tricky form of vertigo. From the beginning when I reached out about it she has been very accommodating. She really worked with me to find a way to have my treatments and not leave super dizzy. Always checking in during treatments to make sure I am doing okay. She has a calm, clean space and really makes you feel cared for. read more

Sylva is professional, kind, knowledgeable,. and good at all she does. In the last seven months, I've had my first experience with a facial, light therapy, and electrolysis. I've been made to feel calm and cared for every visit. All my questions and any special requests have been met with ease, and her explanations are patient and thorough. She's done an amazing job minimizing the pain aspect of hair removal, and I'm seeing fantastic results in the health of my skin as the treatments do their work. Unexpected help for some lifelong TMJ issues has been downright miraculous. Sylva uses a combination of skill, science, and maybe also a little magic? read more

I cannot recommend Sylva enough! As a sole proprietor, she truly pours her heart into her work and her clients. I wasn't great about skincare before seeing her, but she didn't judge--she just helped. She's incredibly kind and has a magic touch. Since seeing her regularly and following the simple, effective routine she built for me, my skin has completely transformed. If you are like me, you have tried several estheticians across the Bay Area. If you are also like me, you haven't been able to find one that works for you because they are either stuck up and rude, talk down to you while up selling you on products and services you don't need or give you unrealistic expectations, charge you an arm and leg and push for continued services that aren't working and in some cases makes your skin worse. AND THEN I FOUND THE MOST AMAZING ESTHETICIAN..Sylva :) She is honestly the most kind, sweet and sincere person you can ever have the pleasure of meeting. You can tell that she cares just as much as you do to see you to your skin care goals! In your consultation, she listens to your concerns about your skin and takes the time to understand what treatments you have tried, what treatments you are currently using and any medications you are taking that might have affect your skin. She gives you a thorough explanation of services and treatments that can gradually lead to better, healthier and clearer skin. She provides you reasonable prices up front. And then she works her MAGIC! I started seeing Sylva for my whiskers (ingrown hairs around cheeks and jawline) and lady'stache (upper lip hair) that was becoming unsightly and causing me some insecurity. I was constantly using heavy makeup to cover up the ingrown hair bumps, scarring and the shadow on my upper lip from constant shaving and plucking that lead to skin damage and hyperpigmentation. Sylva came to the rescue and recommended electrolysis for permanent hair removal. She was honest that it would feel like a pinch, but could not only rid me of hair growth permanently but it would also clear up the ingrown hair bumps and scarring and clear up the shadow on my upper lip. After 8 treatments my skin looks AWESOME! I no longer cover my face with thick makeup and feel happy letting my bright skin shine with simply a tinted SPF moisturizer! It feels good to FINALLY be in the care of experienced hands and to be treated with care, kindness and concern. It feels good to have an esthetician that takes the utmost pride in their work and celebrates your beauty achievements along with you! Thank you Sylva! :) read more

Sylva was an absolute pleasure to work with - she clearly knows her stuff when it comes to skincare, and her use of modern technology and great products really made a difference in the results I saw after my first treatment. My face looked and felt so much better, and I couldn't be happier with the experience overall. Thank you again for your expertise and kindness. Sylva is absolutely amazing! I started going to her for electrolysis years ago. And what a world of difference that has made. She is attentive and so patient. Nobody enjoys chin hairs! And she is great at zapping them. She even very sweetly apologizes to me when my eyes start watering. She has been a godsend for my skin!! I also must confess, i'm terrible at taking care of my skin and am just lazy with my skincare routine. I started going to her for monthly facials. And wow!! My pores are nearly gone. My skin is so much clearer and overall healthier. She spends time educating me, addressing problem areas and overall making sure I have a great/ relaxing experience. I cannot recommend her or sing her praises enough!! She's phenomenal! I also adore her as a human too. read more

I am so happy and relieved I found Sylva for electrolosis. She is fantastic! Not only is she very warm and welcoming, she's professional, very accommodating, and she gets the job done! I was going to another esthetician and not seeing any results. After two or three visits, my time between appointments extended longer each time. I highly recommend! Also, unlike other places, there is parking! read more

For some reason all of Chez Sylva's reviews are missing! Six months ago, when I started looking for an aesthetician, there were tons of 5 star reviews and photos to go with the reviews. Apparently yelp accidentally deleted them. Don't let the lack of reviews fool you. Sylva knows her stuff and has been in business a long time. I am a current electrolysis customer at Chez Sylva. Sylva is so knowledgeable and experienced that I know each time I go, I am in good hands. She is an expert in what she does She is thorough, friendly, nurturing, honest and very skilled. She's in demand and it's a busy place so book your spot asap! It will be worth it!! read more

I have been to 4 different electrologists in the last few years and Sylva is by far the best! She worked fast but skillfully, was very friendly, and it's obvious she really cares about her clients! After one session she's already become my #1 choice. read more

Writing a review is tricky, especially for Sylva, because she is amazing, professional, and medically trained. However, I don't want everyone to know about her because they will take my appointment spots, and I want to keep her to myself. The truth of the matter is I don't know what I would have done if I had not found out about Sylva. I'd most likely have a beard, but thanks to Sylva, that's done and over. I've been going to her for many years now for various treatments. Sylva's treatments help me keep looking young, and my face always feels fresh. It is rare for me to wear makeup because the facial treatments Sylva perform helps my skin stay flawless. She also keeps my eyebrows in check amongst her many talents. I love that she understands how to handle sensitive and darker skin tones--I know my skin is in good hands with her. Also, her workspace is calm, clean, and welcoming. Sylva goes above and beyond the treatments in her shop and has educated me on how to take good care of my skin at home. Needless to say, I think the world of Sylva and the services she provides at Chez Sylva. read more

I have been going to Sylva for electrolysis. She does an excellent job. My facial hair is lessening after each treatment. I have struggled with facial hair for years and I am finally getting desired results. Facial hair is an awful problem as it looks terrible on your face and it is quite embarrassing. I have never had any redness, outbreaks, or infections as a result of the treatments. Sylva is very careful throughout the treatment to apply ointments that prevent issues that could arise. In addition, she is a warm, caring person who is very knowledgeable about skincare. She is open to questions and giving advice. Her office is immaculate and I cannot recommend her more highly. The location is easy to get to and there is always plenty of street parking. read more

When my previous electrologist retired a few years ago, she recommended Sylva, and I'm so glad she did. Sylva is thorough, knowledgeable and very nice. The office is very clean, and I'm also using several of her wonderful skin care products. Today I mentioned I had lower back pain and she offered to try cupping on my back. She's a one-stop shop! read more

I consistently hear from people I meet that they think I'm at least 10 years younger than I am. I give Sylva most of the credit for that. Over the last 20+ years, she has been my go-to skincare professional. I take her word as gospel. Sylva says, wear sunscreen every day, I do it. Sylva says, I've got this great new treatment that would be good for you, I say bring it on. Over the years, she has adjusted the treatments and product suite to match my changing needs. TBH, I don't really let anyone else touch my face in terms of facials AND I will drive an hour each direction to see her because she is that good at what she does. If you want to look your best, and feel nurtured and cared for to boot, go see Sylva. read more

As many of my co-workers and friends can testify, I'm a huge fan of acronyms. I love trying to slip them into daily conversations. Will text them out to friends on the regular, and have had my brother hang up on me on many an occasion for overusing them on phone conversations. But one of my favorite acronyms as of late is PFB. If you're into skin products and you are not familiar with this product - then you are seriously missing out. PFB has been a lifesaver on many a hurried shave day. It heals skin irritation quickly and efficiently and it's far more easier to apply than Tend Skin. Unfortunately there are only a small handful of spots in the city that carry this product. Luckily, Chez Sylva is one of them. I happened to pass by Chez Sylva the other day, and I peered through their blinds. I did a quick double-take when I saw PFB sitting pretty - perched on their shelves. I made a late night call to them, and promptly the next morning Sylva herself called me back and said I could drop by to pick some up. You can tell a lot about people from first impressions and I was immediately comfortable with Sylva when I walked into her small intimate space. She was helpful and listened to my skin woes, and her and her awesome new staff member Chaza even provided me with a quick consultation about some of their procedures. I have yet to try any of the services here, but after my brief encounter with this cozy discrete spot, I am definitely curious about exploring more of their skin caring services, and am beyond elated to discover that I know have a NS (new spot) to PU (pick up) PFB. Trust. read more

Sylva understands skincare like no other. She is intuitive as to what needs to be done, even if you don't know! She uses excellent products which she doesn't push but you end up buying them anyway as they are from Europe and not available at local stores. I would recommend Chez Sylva to anyone who needs an assessment of their skin, a facial (which she always includes neck and décolletage), hair removal and eyebrows. Sylva has a great eye, gentle hands and a nice warm blanket and table while you are being treated! read more

Sylva Chez is one of the best. I get my monthly facials done with her and my skin has never looked better. I totally recommend!

I started electrolysis with Sylva in October 2022 and have been seeing her weekly since then. She's a very warm and kind woman. I chose here based on her years of experience, location convenience, and most importantly bc she's an aesthetician and knows skin. When you research electrolysis effectiveness, the technique of the electrologist is really important, so I wanted to go to someone that has had the experience to perfect their craft. Electrolysis is painful, but at least I know it's working and Sylva provides ice to help with pain and healing. Sylva also goes the extra mile and puts creams on my face afterwards and uses a device to encourage absorption. She also gives me something to hold during the treatment that sends a pulse (I think to distract or calm me). I've done electrolysis elsewhere and I can say Sylva outshined that place tenfold and I'm much happier coming to her. Also, her offices are clean and that's really important to me. You feel you're in a professional skincare environment. read more

I started seeing Sylva for electrolysis and just love her work. There's minimal recovery time after a treatment compared to other experiences I've had. She has absolutely become my go-to for my brow and skincare needs. Lately, I'm completely hooked on the Vitamin C serum she formulated. It's doing wonders to reverse some pretty deep pigmentation I've had. Thank you, Sylva! read more

If I could give Sylva a million stars, I would. She is an angel. I started seeing her for electrolysis about a year or so ago. I have gotten a few facials from her as well. She is amazing. In regards to electrolysis - I had tried everything! (wax, thread, laser ....) It never worked. Electrolysis works. Hands down. And Sylva is great at it. I just came from an apt. & that is why I am writing this review. I could not be happier that I met her. Facials are incredible. You will look a year younger in one apt. I mean, this woman is amazing. Go see her! I don't think there is anything she can't do. read more

If you live anywhere in the San Francisco area, look no further than Chez Sylva for your beauty needs. I cannot say enough good things about Sylva and her services. Everything she does is utterly perfect, clean, and professional, without any pushing or overcharging. She creates the most comfortable environment and I trust her completely - she's humble, knowledgeable, thorough, very personable, always knows exactly what she's doing, and has a diverse offering of services to suit your unique needs. I have seen my fair share of spas and salons and will never go anyone else as long as I live in the Bay Area. You will be in good, capable hands at Sylva's, I guarantee it!!! No more unnecessary pain, awkward chit-chat, overpaying, or feeling like just another nameless client! She's SO great! read more

Chez Sylva is one of the best kept beauty secrets in San Francisco. If you are like me, you value the clinical and advanced scientific approach over rose petals and fluff with little substance. Sylva is all advanced science (and has all the tools to back it up), has a ton of experience (I refer to her as 'Dr. Sylva'), and is one of the smartest, professional, and kindest aestheticians I've ever worked with. So much so, that I've been seeing her for my skincare needs for almost 10 years. I recently told her that she is not allowed to retire. EVER! I'm not sure what my skin would do without her. She carefully assesses your skin at each visit to formulate the perfect customized treatment. She can look at your skin and immediately determine what you've been up to since your last visit (she's just that good). Your skin will look nothing short of radiant after an appointment. I love everything about Sylva (as long as she doesn't retire!) read more

I have been going to Sylva on and off for almost three decades. She is an artist at everything she does. Facials, hair removal, you name it, she's the best! Sylva brings great skill, and deep caring about results, and about her clients. Her relatively new location on Ocean at 19th Avenue has some of the best parking opportunities in the city! You won't have to worry about being late bc you can't find parking. It's ample, and if you get there a little early you'll find free parking super close. I go from glowing from my facial to glowing that my car doesn't have a ticket at the end of treatment! :) read more
