We boarded our 13 year old cat Bear for her first time as she was recently diagnosed with diabetes. I must say that Pat, Paul and Sheila at Chez Mieux were absolutely fantastic. They are very professional, caring and great at giving attention to our cat and all cats boarded there for that matter. When we picked up our cat from Chez Mieux, after a week she was in a kennel in the basement without windows, fresh air and no other cats around and she was starving. As soon as we drove away, she started foaming at the mouth, had diarrhea and was vomiting on the way home. I will NEVER EVER entrust them with our cat and wouldn't recommend their service to anyone, if you really care for your pet. By the way they are pricier than the other cat hotels. We had an excellent experience when we boarded our elderly and diabetic kitty here during a trip out west. We normally use a home sitter, who was not available for the length of our trip - so we boarded our cat here. They have reasonable prices for both boarding and med administration. More importantly, on our first night there our cat showed signs of infection with blood in urine. The owner personally took our pet to urgent care, staying there with her until 3AM! They are very attentive and appear to care for the kitties. They emailed us updates every few days on her condition. While boarding overall is stressful for our anxious kitty, I think they did a great job making them feel comfortable. Would use them again in situations where we can't keep our kitty in the comfort of her home. read more

I recently lost my cat and I drove by Chez Mieux today and figured I'd stop in and see if I could see some cats. Despite the businesses appointment only policy, the owner Paul showed compassion for my loss and let me come in and see the cats. You can tell this business really cares about cats and although I haven't boarded there before I would feel at ease leaving my cat somewhere like Chez Mieux. They took teally great care of my cat and took the time to let her get to know the staff so they could play with her. They were very good about encouraging frequent phone check-ups on your my cat & the response was friendly & caring. They suggested bringing comfort items from home to help decrease my cat's anxiety. As a repeat customer of Chez Mieux and a customer that will never return, please let me respond to the last response from the Chez Mieux management. It's super concerning that you had a questionable employee- it's MORE concerning that you talked so freely about it. "The person who was on staff during both Shiro's check-in and check-out worked for us for a short period of time. Once we realized that her performance was poor when one of us was not on site, we let her go. " Yeah, we as cat owners need to know that you vet your employees. "ONCE WE REALIZED HER PERFORMANCE WAS POOR"...no, that's unacceptable. My cat came back from boarding at your facility last September and I now have to wonder when you fired that objectionable employee. This worries me because last fall we noticed some new behavioral issues in our cat after boarding, such as my cat flinching when we moved to pet her. There are other issues regarding your facility that I don't wish to mention for your benefit, but please understand that people see when you gloss over care for your customers' pets and that will translate to lack of business for you in the future. The last time I ever boarded my cat at your facility was at Christmas. You had an overflow setup downstairs in an adjunct facility and I was greeted by a non-speaking, utterly silent woman who silently led me upstairs to pay the bill, and then when I went downstairs to get my cat there was a man who in a very paranoid manner, popped his head in from a neighboring room and then popped back away. Just really unsettling behavior and not something that would come from something professional. To the owner: please, PLEASE vet your employees and see what they are doing. You never know when your customers might have cameras on their pet's carriers. read more

Chez Mieux is great. We have two cats and one of them is older and diabetic. This brings a bit of extra concern when you are thinking about boarding your pet because you're involving timed insulin injections on top of everything else. We have boarded at Chez Mieux for a few vacations this year and they have been wonderful with both of our cats every time. They will also provide you updates on how your cat is doing, if requested, and on one of our vacations we were delighted to see photos of our cats playing at Chez Mieux posted on their Facebook page. It is nice to have a place where you know your cats are receiving genuine quality care from experienced professionals. Relieves anxiety on your vacation, which is usually why you went away in the first place! read more

This cat boarding place has a number of great features: When you drop off your cat you can see where the cat is going to live. Sunny and pleasant! Some places just take your cat into a back room and that's it. If your cat is skittish about other cats, one of the areas has cubbies designed so the cats can't see each other. (Ask or reserve in advance if you want this.) Most of the cubbies have windows which is nice since cats love to look outside. Again ask and reserve in advance if this is important to you because not all the cubbies have them. There aren't any dogs here so your cat won't be disturbed by barking. The owner knows a lot about cats and is very sensitive to individual cat needs. When you drop off she asks a lot of questions so leave plenty of time. You can bring objects from home for the cat to be comforted with. This seems like an excellent place to board a cat. read more

In the past we were pleased with Chez Mieux. This time there were red flags we chose to let get past us. But the check-out crossed the line. Watch out for the deceptive check-in / check-out policy. Check-in and Check-out are by appointment only. The only appointment times available tend to force you to pay for an extra day. They are more concerned about enforcing this policy than getting return business. We will not return. read more

I felt good about leaving our 2 cats here for a week. Normally I'm the type that will cry as we leave since I hate having to board them, but this is a nice clean place. I knew it was somewhere special when I spoke with Patricia (one of the owners). She said to be sure to bring a t shirt or pillow case we've used/worn, something that will smell like us so the cats are comforted by it. I always leave a shirt on the bed when I'm out for the day (one of my cats tends to have separation anxiety) but this was the first boarding spot that said to do that - and I called quite a few. You can tell the owners really love cats and have opened this business just because they care about animals. Paul, the other owner (they are married), met with us showed us exactly where my guys would be staying. I got to put them in then stay for a bit while they got comfortable. They shared a condo with a window in a nice sunny room. He encouraged us to call to check in as much as we wanted while we were out. They also were let out everyday to stretch and have play time. When we returned our cats were happy (although annoyed with us for leaving them, but no getting around that ;-) ) and healthy. Overall I was very happy with our experience and would definitely recommend Chez Mieux to fellow cat parents! read more

Great cat boarding house. We kept our cats there for 4+ weeks during a long international trip, and they were kind and attentive to both us and our cats throughout. We had no doubts during (or after pickup) that our cats were being well cared-to, and they seemed to enjoy the time at Chez Mieux. The owner even came over to meet me personally at pick-up just to let me know how it had gone with the cats. Definitely reocmmend. read more

The Chez Mieux staff is fantastic - they are extremely accommodating and make sure to receive detailed information about each cat before bringing them into the facility. Each time I have left my cat in their care I have felt very confident, despite his arduous eating schedule. The owners have always been very polite and prompt in their communication with me, and have been gracious in dealing with my tight schedule/last-minute requests. The facilities themselves are bright, well-kept, and feature large "condos" for the cats to reside in (when they're not treated to solo strolls around the desk area, under supervision). Every time I have picked up my cat following a trip, he's been happy, healthy, and unenthused to go home with me - definitely the sign of a good spot :) read more

Since I became a "kitty parent" several years ago, Chez Mieux has been a real blessing. I first learned of them through my vet, who gave them a very warm recommendation. Chez Mieux is for cats ONLY, and all of the personnel I have encountered there are truly caring "cat people". The owner/manager has always been most pleasant and accommodating, and from the very beginning made a particularly favorable impression on me by being so helpful when I had to deal with a complicated residential move. Ever since then, whenever I have occasional trips out of town, I am confident that my two cat companions are in very good hands, well looked after, and having a good time. - In fact, whenever I return to fetch them home, it's not unusual for my little female to give me a look as if to say "oh, hello, can I stay here a little longer? - I'm having such fun..." read more

It's interesting that my family's reviews of Chez Mieux posted two weeks ago, where we had a VERY BAD experience, have been taken down by yelp. While the reviews were negative, they were not disrespectful. Now I understand why businesses I've had bad experiences at end up with such high average ratings on review sites such as yelp; negative reviews are removed from the site. read more

This place was great - it's cats only and the people are really knowledgeable and friendly. There cats are divided between several rooms, all of which are quiet and set up with area rugs, a chair, cat tree and toys, and each cat gets their own space - half of a 'cat condo.' Also great is that each cat gets a section of window it can access from it's personal space. (And they get out at least once a day for half an hour and get full run of the place!) I have a cat who's both rather shy (fine once he gets used to someone) and skittish, and who really needs human company and affection or he becomes very unhappy. He does not do well at regular boarding places (where there are often also dogs and the cats just get let out to wander on their own, if that), but he was clearly very happy here. When I came to pick him up he was totally relaxed, lounging in his cat bed and greeted me with headbutts and licks. The administrative end of things was also very efficient and with no hassle at all, both when I dropped him off and when I picked him up. Really, now that I know this place I know where to bring my cat whenever he needs to be boarded. read more

We had a terrible experience. We dropped off on a Sat. Were greeted by a woman with a totally flat affect. She had us sign a couple of forms and led us to a laundry room with 4 cat "condos" and put our cat in. I asked about play time, time out of the cage and she said "we let some of them out to walk around if they behave". Had a bad feeling but had to leave. On pick up our cat was in a different room which at least had a window. Same flat affect, nothing to say about the week. Our cat had lost weight and was shivering when we picked up. We were upset and disgusted - very different from their online comments about how the cats were treated. It took 10 minutes in the car for our cat to relax and he spent the entire ride home crawling on us and rubbing us with his head - he was so happy to get out of there. I would not recommend this place and would never use them again. read more

I'm so happy I found Chez Mieux! Every summer my husband and I board our tabby cat at a kennel that houses both dogs and cats. She is very uncomfortable around dogs and she would hide for days after we brought her back home. After visiting Chez Mieux we knew this was the place for her. The interior is absolutely beautiful, there's no barking dogs and they have these cute little condo rooms with windows and things to climb on. The owner and employees are obviously true cat lovers which is very obvious from the level of attention and service. In addition, the pricing was far better for a week stay than at our previous kennel. Thanks Chez Mieux! read more
