Fantastic cafe in the heart of Tours, in the fantastic Place Plumereau! Indoor and outdoor seating available, with a fantastic menu and lots of drink options. The restaurant has a nice feel to it, with lots of light and lots of energy, with a great bar, but it does not feel overly crowded or cramped.
Food is fresh, and extremely well made! We ordered three items off the menu, and honestly wished we had ordered a fourth given how great the food was! For us, we had the Croq'truite, the crottins de chevre rotis, and the frites maison. So basically, a croque monsieur, sliced into six pieces, melted goat cheese with toasted ciabatta bread for dipping, and the house fries, which were their take on truffle fries. And fam, they've figured out truffle fries! Most places i've been, they just cook some fries, then lazily coat them in truffle oil, parmesan, and whatever else they want. Greasy, uninspired, and over-rated. These folks, however, have pulled together a fantastic dipping sauce, absolutely loaded with truffle flavor. So, the fries stay crisp and tasty, and you can have as much or as little truffle/topping flavor as you want. That is how truffle fries should be done. The sliced croque monsieur was absolutely delicious, perfectly toasted on both sides with a fantastic spread inside with the ham. A must have for sure! And the melted goat cheese...i mean, goat cheese is fantastic normally, and this was melted with some fantastically toasted ciabatta bread. insane how good all this food was!
For dessert (yes, after all of that), pain perdu, aka french toast. Fantastic! not overly heavy, perfect texture, great flavor. Overall, a great way to wrap up dinner.
This place is absolutely fantastic, and if you're a local, or traveling through, this is a must visit! read more
