I had a large serving of quinoa salad and my wife had the soup of the day, followed by a slice of chocolate cake. Both main courses tasted excellent and there was a lot of the salad. The chocolate cake had a great chocolate taste and the consistency was perfect. This was followed by mochachinos. Those were excellent too. Overall, this was a great lunch.

An excellent location to eat and sample local wines…read more We were recommended this place by our B&B host while on the wine road trip, for a dinner. A big plus for them is that they have a kitchen that's open until late and they are a wine bar, meaning they have quite a choice when it comes to wines by the glass, as well as for the bottles. Upon arrival, we sat out on the terrace - under large umbrellas, good against the sun as well as the rain and ordered burgundy style snails, vegetarian burger with fries for my partner and a Boeuf Bourguignon for myself, along with some wines. The quality of the food was excellent - it's so far the best Boeuf Bourguignon that I have tried so far and the vegetarian burger was excellent as well. Similarly, the wines by glass we proceeded to sampling were all pretty darn good and on the affordable side. Finally, for the desserts we went with the crème brulée and their daily special (fondant au chocolat). Both were excellent. Bonus point for an excellent service as well as a general democratic atmosphere. Overall, would absolutely and positively recommend.

They also have a veggie avocado sandwich... the cheese on it is goat cheese... so if you don't like goat cheese do not order it. We asked if it was goat cheese and they said no cheese even though we could see it... so that's an example of the language barrier. The workers were very kind and welcoming though! There's not much space to sit in the cafe... but the city itself is quite lovely to walk around with sandwich in hand! Totally worth it! :) Some of our travel buddies got the macarons and stated they enjoyed them as much as the ladiree ones. A quirk of this place -- and part of what makes it cool -- is it also doubles as a furniture showroom. Yes, the furniture in the cafe is also for sale. The style is an industrial/vintage look, and has a lot of character. They also have live music in the evenings from time to time. Coffee Shop Sleepy Bear is a one woman show, but she does an amazing job in what is a genuinely excellent cozy atmosphere tucked away in a good location. Service is quick even when traffic starts moving. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? 6,00 CHF for a cappuccino is maybe surprisingly reasonable for Lausanne, and every other menu item was equally reasonable on the price scale. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? This was a good cappuccino, and while I would have loved for there to be a little bear design in the mix it went nicely with the homemade granola bar that I paired it with. Single Star.
