Bordeaux is a great city, but finding great Chinese food in the land of cheese, fois gras and…read morebaguettes can be, to put it lightly, a struggle. However, fear not! Wok Way, unlike many others in this city gets it so right. This small unassuming restaurant seems a favourite of Chinese expats or French-Chinese families - always great sign of a restaurant's authenticity. I ordered the wok of tofu (another rare sight in bordeaux) and leeks on rice. It was absolutely amazing the friendly staff even made a few suggestions when I asked for help with the menu. The ambiance is clean and modern. Check it out if you're in town and need a break from the French food this city has to offer. I know I often do, and will therefore be back!

The chow mein is freshly made in house and comes with chicken, veggie, shrimp, or beef options. The gyoza are great, the shrimp with onions has garlic and bell peppers sautéed with it. The Tsingtao beer is delicious with every dish... And if you want a dish that is a little more authentic Chinese tasting, have the Chipped Pork over white rice dish. It has that fermented chili pepper flavor that exists in several dishes in China. The service is great! Friendly servers and even an English menu if needed.

The restaurant is small so my sister and I sat at the bar. Very quickly a very sweet woman asked us if we wanted English menus and we did because my sister is not familiar with hot Japanese food. I ordered the Yakisoba with pork and my sister ordered the Tantanmen. The Yakisoba was great but the pork was a tiny bit dry and could have been a little more flavorful. The Tantanmen was fantastic! I kept having little slurps of hers and in the end we poured some of the juice onto my plate to create a custom Yakisoba. LOL! If I was being critical I would give 4 stars but because the service was so friendly this is definitely a 5 star joint. Especially if you are an American. I will definitely go back next time I visit Bordeaux.

Otherwise the flavor was fine and it was prepared pretty well. I give them a thumbs up for really trying to be as authentic as possible. They welcome you with the common Japanese greeting 'Irashaimasen' and our server could relay her order in Japanese The noodle shop also was narrow and looked like a noodle shop in Japan.
