I try to hit a korean restaurant where ever I go - yes, Prague has some, so does Lima, Peru.
There was a time when Koreans restaurants were a rarity in Paris - it took me a week to find one in the 6th district ten years ago. Now they're all over the place.
Nicely marinated, good cuts of meat. Good service. Overall decent meal. But I have two beefs with Korean BBQ - neither is specific to this place.
First, unlike Korea or the US, the Korean restaurants in the ROW (rest of the world) charges extra for the side dishes. What the heck? This is contrary to the core of dining Korean style - to get 15 plates of side dishes for free, of which only four are actually consumed. Yo, no one actually eats the pickled spouts.
Second, I have to man the BBQ pit because I'm Asian when I'm with non-Asians. It's a de-facto thing. Non-asians just assume that along with my karate training, I have been trained to grill meat Korean BBQ style. Who signed me up for BBQ patrol? The thing is, it gets very stressful making sure the meats are cooked properly...so I'm constantly manning the grill. Making sure to not overcook it, passing out the meats that are done. Result - everyone else is having a blast eating and drinking, and I'm left with those freaking 11 out of 15 side dishes no one eats. read more
