In prep to get the work done, I talked to 4 people, and got 3 bids to replace the decking, railings and spindles on my 2 decks. This was a large job with over 800 sf of decks and 2 long staircases. Of the bids I received, Steve's was the most reasonable by far. So much so that I was hesitant to call him based on his bid, but I am so glad I did! They did a fantastic job. My decks and stairs look beautiful and everything feels so much sturdier. Steve kept me in loop everyday and didn't hesitate to reach out if he had any questions. He was always very responsive any time I reached out to him as well. His crew was friendly and respectful of our property. They were here everyday, working hard, until the job was done. You have to be careful with this one because it is very sweet and will sneak up on you, but it is delicious. You can really taste the blue agave. Some issues: - Refused to show proof the thatch is fire retardant (you can get non fire proof and fully fire proof versions). I'm really worried. - They left a cigarette butt, top of a sealant container and popsicle sticks (we gave them popsicles) on our roof. I had to crawl onto roof to remove. - Beams have huge chunks of rough wood sticking out. They fixed a few but said they could not smooth all of them. It's like huge splinters sticking out everywhere. - After the 1st rain it leaked everywhere. Luckily the ATM didn't process our 2nd check and before I reissued it it rained so they came back out to fix, but I'm not confident they would have had I not withheld payment. They literally had to add double the thatch to make it not leak... I'm shocked if they thought the original amount added would have been enough to be waterproof as promised. - Built the frame and said thatch would be done later that week. Took 3 more weeks and Ray lied about placing the order. He said he placed it then when I followed up a week later to see when it was to be delivered he said he actually had not placed it. - When I was inquiring about how they'd keep it from leaking I asked about sealer (Google research). Ray originally said that would only be a temporary solution and he was not going to use sealer but then they ended up adding sealer and more thatch... what is the truth? - They said they could not come back to fix when promised because it was not sunny. For some strange reason he insisted it had to be sunny for the sealer to work and couldn't come if a chance of rain, even though previously they added sealer then sprayed with our garden hose to check for leaks. - There is white stuff sticking out from under the thatch that we can see from upstairs windows. At first Ray said not to remove it because it would leak, that they would come back to add more thatch to cover it up. Then when I followed up about when they'd be back to fix he said to remove it. I crawled on the roof and tried to remove it but it's permanently stuck in place. So now we just have white paper looking stuff sticking out on one side of the structure.

Lost large sections of fence due to Hurricane Beryl. Since the fence was old, requested quote for…read morereplacing the entire thing. Previously had a quote from another company for $10,500. Jeremy Lewing was doing work for a neighbor and said he'd match the $10,500. Horrible customer experience for many reasons - lots of unkept promises and a final bill over $13,300. After many delays, excuses, and requests for additional payments toward the balance, he promised to finish entire job and remove huge trash pile by Sept 30 at the latest. On Sept 30, hardly any pickets had even been hung! Oct 4 still not finished - trash pile remained, gate only would open from one side, not both. Promised to return the next day, didn't show up. Jeremy was unprofessional to put it mildly. I had to pay someone to haul off the trash pile, finish the gate, etc. Would not recommend.
