Our experience with Brother's Steel was extremely disappointing. We hired them in November 2024 to…read morebuild a barndominium and construct the access road, but the project was full of delays, poor communication, and missed deadlines. We were originally told we could move in by May 2025, but after repeated delays we did not move in until December 18, 2025--and even then, the project remained incomplete and we moved in with the road unfinished. The access road did not receive the amount of crushed concrete specified in our contract and quickly deteriorated. When we raised concerns, we were repeatedly told it was built correctly despite visible issues. We were also told the owner would inspect the road on specific days, but he never showed. We were later blamed for roughly $45,000 in dirt placed on the road, even though we did not request or authorize that work. After continued delays and no on-site review, we hired a third-party contractor to repair the road at significant additional cost. When we requested documentation showing how much crushed concrete was actually delivered, third-party supplier records were not provided--only an invoice that did not clearly substantiate the work claimed. We were presented with disputed change orders and pressured for additional payment before remaining work and corrections were completed. Despite a written agreement that the final payment of $3,520 was due upon completion, we were told multiple times that a mechanic's lien would be filed while work remained unfinished. Due to ongoing delays, incomplete work, lack of documentation, and financial pressure, we cannot recommend Brother's Steel. Response to Brother's Steel: We respectfully disagree with your response, as it misrepresents our experience. We were originally told the barndominium would be completed in May, but we were given multiple completion dates that came and went without clear communication. Our contract and signed change order specified 69 loads of crushed concrete, and the road we received was in failing condition and did not reflect that amount. We raised concerns multiple times and were repeatedly told everything was correct despite visible issues. In a material quantity dispute, it is standard practice to provide third-party documentation such as supplier or load tickets and should be a lot of paper; however, our requests were declined, and we were instead given an unusual-looking invoice (one page) that did not clearly support the quantities claimed. Per the contract: "Any additional costs for materials must be approved by the recipient and contractor in writing prior to starting work". We did not sign or approve change orders for the additional dirt or loads prior to you laying it down and we still paid for half. Therefore, those charges are disputed and were not authorized. We told the owner if he had just communicated with us we would have built a shorter road closer to the access point. You seem to have forgotten. We did not prevent an on-site visit. We were told the owner would come out and waited over two weeks, but he never showed. We also have written documentation showing a final payment of $3,520 due upon completion, which was not paid because the road and project were not completed. Any amount you claim we owe is disputed, and we incurred significant additional costs to repair and complete work that was not completed per our agreement. Throughout the process you have blamed us for your mistakes, your response speaks for itself. We stand by our review.

When I first reached out for a quote, Jacob, the owner, came to my house and took his time…read moreanswering all my questions. Even a few days later, when I thought of more things to ask, he was quick to respond and made sure I got the info I needed. I asked a lot of off the wall things, but he was patient and made sure I understood the explanation of different types of patios and materials. Before starting the project, he walked me through the plan and introduced me to my project manager, Luis. Luis was great, he kept me updated the whole way, even during the first week when I was out of town. I had no worries and I was able to enjoy my vacation while full on construction was going on at my home. Every crew that came out, roofing, painting, cement, told me what they were there to do and asked if I had any questions before getting started. I also have to mention Blanca in the office, every time I called, she was so friendly and easy to talk to, it was like I'd known her for years. The end result? My patio is beautiful! I was torn between putting money down on a larger home and moving, or building a patio to add square footage for gatherings. I am so happy I went with a new patio instead of the debt of a new home. I had to personally put getting any remodeling and home additions on hold while I cared for my dad for over a year. We talked about my patio dream before he passed in March. He kept telling me -"get that patio done". I'll think of him every time I'm enjoying my new space.

WARNING!!! STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY…read more Extremely poor workmanship. Sub-contracts work out to inexperienced people. The contractor never around to point our problems with his sub-contractors...missing in action. They ordered the 'wrong' materials (stone) for the job and then tried to make multiple cuts to force them into place on my porch pillars. Very sloppy work...the cement they used on the stone splattered onto my pavers that I had just laid last year. You 'cannot' remove the cement. My patio looks a complete mess and the pavers that have cement will all need to be replaced. The stonework on my pillars are off center, uneven, some stone leaning one direction while the others on the same pillar go in the opposite direction. All the stone pillars will have to be torn down and completely started over from step one...(I'm getting someone else to do that). Here's the kicker...it was my first born child's wedding this week with all the relatives and family coming to the house for the great event. The work was supposed to be done nearly two months ago and it still was not completed so we had this huge eye-sore in the front and back of our home (porch and patio pillars). Words cannot express my disappointment with this company...don't fall for their lies, you'll get burned like I did.

Jay the Owner of J&M Construction Solutions came to give me a estimate for my driveway extension…read more5/15/2020 he talked to my daughter and I all about what he would do and how he would extend the driveway. He would make the entrance to flow with the entrance and line up with the brick of the house. He said that on the other side of the driveway he would curve it as well to look very nice. He said he would put the sprinklers, dirt and grass all back to look nice, he did no such thing. It was a messy job he did not power wash it either as he promised. He broke a sprinkler and did not even mention it. He was suppose to remove a plant to add the concrete and make it wider to give us the room we needed on each side of the driveway and he did not do it. Also, was suppose to put joint boards on both sides and the dowels on each side, which again he did not. He warned us of people sweet talking and they would not do the job, that's what he did just talk, talk and no performance. He came to do the job on June 4th he said it was a one day job would come to put dig in the sprinklers, dirt and grass back on the next day, due to us not going to be home I gave him the deposit of 30% plus 50.00 dollars extra and the other check with the final amount because we were not going to be home and I want someone to get their money for the job on time. Well I explained regarding the two checks his email on the estimate states payment due upon completion of work with a 30% deposit to be collected with sign contract. He ran to the bank as soon as I gave them to him instead of depositing the one 30% check and the other after completion that did not happen. It was very hard to get him to answer my calls nor my texts. Today 6/30/2020 he still has not come back to finish the job he would say tomorrow or not answer and tomorrow still has not arrived. We had to rent a power washer which we could not remove the employees boot marks of original driveway. He won't come fix it and make it right nor refund some of the money.
