As an avid aquarium enthusiast this has been my go to shop for everything (including tank upgrades)…read moresince I joined into the hobby. Every week they receive new shipments of fish/plants/etc which allows for continual diversity to be acclimated into the shops stock. On-top of a massive fish/coral/tank setup selection the staff is amazing here. Particularly Mr. Helms, who always goes above and beyond to take care of any questions I have with my tank or a knowledge opinion on proper care. It's always a treat coming here and I will continue to do so!

One was dead by the time I got home. Today I bought three pajama cardinals. I drip acclimate everything, and partway through the drip, two of the three were clearly going downhill. Not ordinary settling-in stress, but failing. I called the store, explained what I was seeing, and they told me to bring them in. The diagnosis came quickly once I got there: my salinity was 1.019, and the fish had been shocked during acclimation. On that basis they credited me for one of the two dying fish and I absorbed the other. Store credit, not a refund. What bothers me is where the 1.019 came from. They tested the bag I'd carried the fish back in, and I had filled that bag from my own display tank. Same water, two readings: 1.019 on their instrument, 1.024 on my digital meter at home, calibrated before I used it. One of those numbers is wrong. That wasn't an academic disagreement. It decided who paid. Their reading put my tank out of range, so the loss became mine, and the portion they did cover came back as credit that only spends at the shop that sold me the fish. Three of five animals in two days, and an explanation resting on a measurement a calibrated meter contradicts. There are other places to buy livestock around Gainesville and I'll be using them.

Zack is a sweetheart and you can ask him anything with out feeling like it's a dumb question. I am relatively new to the Saltwater world (about 3 years now), but I have been going to this store for almost 4 years. Sue and Zack have helped me incredibly from verifying that all the "pretty cool fish" (that's what I call em') I pick out will live with and 'play nicely' with the fish already in my 125 gal reef tank, as well as what will live in my 125 gal and what will go in my 13.5 gal tank. I do not understand some of the other rude reviews on this site, BUT I can tell you I have been there so many times over the years (about weekly) and I have interacted with every single employee there more than once, and I have NEVER had a bad interaction. (Then again, I also do not go in there and my do my hair or slap on the tanks.) Don't try that rude stuff in my home, around my tanks!) As for the doggie that I have seen there...I can only assume that shows her character, as to what kind of a person she is. Sue owns a shop, works so many hours (fact is, that almost every single time I have gone in there morning, afternoon and evening she has been there working) sop I assumed she doesn't want to leave her dog alone at home that long. I admire that. But hey, she can do that...it is NOT a food establishment. The dog only barks when someone comes in, which alerts her to my presence and is a friendly dog. I will say this, NO ONE has EVER been rude to me, my husband or my son in the last hundred plus times we have been in there over the last four years. Her tanks are very clean, (buy my RO water there weekly) and have NEVER had an issue. Also, (don't follow my example) I don't even quarantine my new fish from her shop because I know the care she takes of her fish, water and shop. This is a lady that will stay at her shop 24/7 during a hurricane to make sure the power doesn't go out or any other issue happen that could harm the fish, ensuring she can feed and care for them. That's how much she cares and she cares AFTER she sells them to you too! I highly recommend "What's in Your Tank".
