This is a great store! They have a large abundance of salt water and fresh water fish throughout the store. They even sell large fresh water snails, fresh water baby turtles, and they have large and smaller Axolotls in different colors. They sell a large assortment of supplies needed for fresh water and salt water tanks and they sell tanks here as well. The service here is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I am always skeptical about going to this store due to lack of cleanliness and the owners service over the past few years but today was the final straw. I purchased rock and wood for a new aquarium I am setting up and I was overcharged by more than 50%. When I got home I weighed the wood and rock. I was charged for 7 pounds of wood and only bought 5.5. I was charged for 6.4 pound of rock and only purchased around 2 pounds. After he weighed it in store he was whispering to the cashier how much it came out to and I felt like the price was steep but did not question it at the time. I would love to support local but this place makes it rough. Everything is overpriced in the first place just compare the prices to anywhere else and you can find it for 20-30 percent less if not more. I visited this aquarium store with the intention of supporting a local business and purchasing some stones for my aquarium setup. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing due to the owner's unprofessional behavior. Which has happened on multiple occasions now. Honestly we weren't going to return after our last experience thinking maybe he was just having a bad day. We have definitely made at least 6-7 trips to this shop. After asking to open a box of stones, I was told it would just take a moment. However, I was left waiting for over 20 minutes, with no update or sense of urgency -- all for something that should have been a simple request. While both the owner and other clerk waited on three other customers. When the box was finally opened, the owner acted as though I was being difficult and said he could only open the ONE box. Like he was mad that I wanted to choose carefully, which I believe is a reasonable expectation when selecting materials for an aquarium. I mean he is in this business for the love of it correct ? What was most upsetting, though, was hearing the owner speak negatively about me to a staff member -- loudly enough for me my daughter and other customers to hear. Being treated like a nuisance for HIS unprofessionalism !! I have always appreciated the store's variety of products, but customer service matters just as much -- especially in a niche hobby like aquascaping where customers often want to be involved in the selection process. Sadly, I won't be returning, and I hope this feedback encourages the owner to treat future visitors with more respect and patience. My two clown fish are going on a year and a half originally as test subjects to make sure my tank was up to par for saltwater life per recommended by the owner of aqua mart. They are awesome and when I over exposed my tank to light recently and got an algae bloom aqua mark tested my water (for free) and recommended a solution that accommodated my tank and sea creatures specifically . The owner listened and gave his honest advice on what he would do and I really appreciated that. My tank is already much cleaner and clearer just following his advice hours later. Also 1$ per gallon for pre mixed/established salt water is awesome! The girl who got our salt water even asked if we had a particularly style container we wanted to take it home in for our convenience. 10/10. read more

I have just had the most insulting experience I have ever had in a business. I can't understand how this place is so highly rated. Fish boy came out accusing my son of having placed his hands in a tank in a very rude manner in front of the whole family and two other people. I understand if my son did place his hands in a tank, he shouldn't, and I would be the first to discipline him. But as my son (whose hands were dry) started crying, I asked to speak to fish boy. I politely stated that if my son was lying I needed to punish him because we do not accept lying, and fish boy stated that both him and the girl working there witnessed my son. I stated that if my son did, I would like to see the video which he claimed to have. He said he did not need to show me anything, so I explained that I know my son. I do not know him, and if he refused to prove his accusations and slandering of my son, I would have to assume that fish boy must be exaggerating or outright lying. I told him that if he could not prove the accusation, I would never walk into the store again and that I would have to talk to the store via Facebook. My wife has never liked coming to this store because she feels like she is being followed around by the staff, making her feel uncomfortable. It hadn't bothered me in the past, but when you run out of the office to yell at my kid and then refuse to show me why you acted that way, I will refuse to provide you my business. We have been to Nahackey's and mad reefer many times and were never treated like this. Even at petco they love us. My advice to fish boy is to spend more time cleaning the tanks with fish so they are happier and healthier and less time making baseless accusations against future fish keepers. If you had given me proof like I asked, I would have walked my son right back to apologize because that is the right and decent thing to do. Bought a leaky fish tank from Aqua Mart of Saint Johns Florida. Took it back and he filled it with water for five minutes. He said it does not leak. I agreed. I took it home and set it up again on my 93 year old mother's chester drawers and filled it. At 3am she had to get up and empty the three gallon tank as it had flooded her drawers. Don't know how she did it as she can barely walk on knees with no cartilage. Her drawers are ruined as the top is warped and absorbed water. Ok, sure, it is cheap furniture. I took it back today and got a line of why he was not responsible as I had confirmed that it did not leak. I did not ask for compensation but only wanted my money back. Mom no longer wanted a fish tank for Christmas. He said store credit only. I said that was not good enough as Mom no longer wanted a tank. He said it is on that sign by the door and printed on the receipt. This is true. He is legally not bound. Any good businessman will own up to mistakes. The product is bad and caused damage. Where do I start the horrible customer service or almost every tank having major issues. From Ick on every fish to 5 dead fish in a 20 gallon tank.... and still try to say they are very knowledgeable.... the Little girl that "runs" the store has the worst attitude when it comes to helping customers as well which didn't make the experience any better. This store was wonderful years ago I hate to see what it's turned into, I would rather drive to Melbourne to get fish or any aquarium supplies. My daughter got a fish tank and was SO EXCITED to get fishy's for her tank. We went to Aqua Mart and found the perfect "Nemo's" for her (that's what she kept saying). About 3 other customers walked in the store separately. EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER got helped besides us!!! After 20min of standing there like shmucks and not being helped, we walked out crushing our daughter heart because she wasn't getting her Nemo's. HORRIBLE customer service. Went here to get premixed salt water and got 6 gallons. Spoke with employee and had her check salt water. She stated all salt water was between 1.024-1.025 salinity. Had her check it before we left she sated it was 1.024. Got home did water change for out jelly fish and Jelly fish instantly acted wrong. Checked water and found water at 1.034!!!!!. This killed out jelly fish.. :( I dont have anything to say about the sales BUT BE WEARY ABOUT THE WATER. Side note. I can recall several occasions in which the staff there actually suggested less expensive fixes than what I was prepared to spend after doing research on line. The first time I went to this fish store it was slightly off putting, though upon walking in the staff is so informed and they really seemed like they wanted to help me. They've helped me figure out issues I've had with my tanks for years now, I rely on them for every issue I've had and gotten all my fish there with no problems! First visit, pulling in, parking lot looks bad.. walk in... decent display tanks, lots of fish options.. helpful staff.. I like helping small local businesses.. but I asked for two cherry shrimp and one grass shrimp... that's all I wanted, got one cherry shrimp but charged for 3.. no biggie it added 5 dollars to my bill and I walked out without what I asked for... I won't be going back.. the place seemed very dirty also..you never know how large one small customer can become if treated right, if you don't listen to the needs of your customer you will not find that out.. RUDE, arrogant and condescending. Everything is a pissing contest with this guy. Whatever you do he does it better. Refuses to give good advise (for ick his recommendation was to buy 15 pounds of live rock @ $7/lb, not to medicate the fish @ $8/bottle for medicine--I bought the medicine and the fish is doing fine). Claims he doesn't believe in quarantine tanks yet ALL his fish tanks are treated with copper (ie. a quarantine tank). The store is small and smells like mold. Limited inventory. Koi fish are in tiny cubicles where there isn't even enough room for them to turn around. Will be going to fishy bizness in Merritt Island from now on. read more

Not only do they have the worst customer service ever, the store looks like it could fall down at any given moment, everything is covered in dust at least an inch thick. I ordered a product, waited 3 weeks with no response. Called to check on the arrival of the product and was told the wrong item came in. (Wonder how long it had been sitting there). Was told the original product was reordered and I could wait on it or just take the one they sent. Waited another 3 weeks, called again and was informed it was never reordered. He actually blamed me, saying I should have called back sooner! I really wanted to give my business to a local store owner, guess I'll be going to one of the big stores or buying online. My wife and I travel over an hour to Aqua Mart. We always have great customer service and he always gives you good advice, he has never led us down the wrong path. When I wanted new lights he hooked us up in no time at all, they don't try and sell you something that you don't need in your tank. We love going to Aqua Mart!!!
