I always felt a sense of magic whenever I walked the woods, gazed at the pond, and saw the joy on each child's face on the nature playground! I was always in awe of the unique activities and ideas flowing through the children and teachers! Ms. Carolyn is such an incredible soul who values children and offers each of them an invitation to receive an incredible love of learning. The foundational skills of curiosity, social interaction, creativity, exploration, and problem solving are rock solid after my child's preschool experience. His connection to nature and love for science couldn't be more beautiful. There is no other preschool in our area that comes close to this unique forest school experience. In addition, we took advantage of the summer camp offerings and birthday party packages as well!! We drove 25 min between our home and the school. It is worth every moment of commuting to give my child such a rich childhood experience. I plan to continue my relationship with Woodland Discovery when my youngest is old enough to begin!!

We enrolled our three older children here from August through December, including our 15-year-old…read moreson on the autism spectrum, my 13yr old daughter, and my 10yr old daughter while I was also employed in the 5-and-under classroom. I withdrew them during Christmas break after months of concerns that were repeatedly ignored. The biggest failure was academics and accountability. During the entire time my children attended, I received no real grades, report cards, progress reports, or testing results. When I transferred them, I had virtually nothing to provide their new school. For any parent paying tuition and trusting a school with their child's education, that is unacceptable. There was also far too much wasted time during the school day. My children regularly reported excessive time spent on YouTube and playing video games instead of meaningful instruction, especially during periods when students were not being properly supervised or engaged. My son, who is on the spectrum, was repeatedly promised support services and therapy. Those promises never became reality. Families with children who need additional support should be very cautious about relying on assurances that services are "coming."As an employee, I also personally witnessed elementary-aged children being sent outside for recess without adult supervision on a regular basis before Christmas break. There were also many times when I was on break that I found out my class was being left unsupervised. That alone should concern any parent. What makes this even more disappointing is that the school presents itself as a Christian school. In my experience, there was very little genuine emphasis on Biblical learning, doctrine, or spiritual formation. Even more troubling, the front office frequently smelled of marijuana, which is completely inappropriate in any school setting. The website and leadership may sell a beautiful vision, but in my experience, the execution was poor and the reality did not match the promises. The follow through was never there. I also observed a pattern of students and staff leaving after seeing how things actually operated. Especially staff being fired if any questions started to be asked or accountability offered. Based on my family's experience, I cannot recommend this school. Parents should ask hard questions, verify everything, ask for results from previous attendees, and look carefully before trusting this school with their children.
