It's not far from I-285 exit 38: US 29 / SR 8 (Lawrenceville Highway) - Tucker. This is a large, older generation QT with 24 pumps. I stopped by this gas station on the way back into town from nearby Stone Mountain. I like QT for the following reasons: (1) they have low, competitive gas prices, (2) the gas stations are generally bright, clean, and spacious, and they feel safe, (3) they're open 24/7, (4) they have free air for your tires, (5) the food is actually pretty good (the hot dogs and ice cream in particular), and (6) customer service is usually good (the uniformed employees greet anyone who enters). This QT is no exception. During my visit, I noticed this QT uses one of the newer Gilbarco Veeder-Root fuel dispensers so the filling station has presumably been upgraded at least once. This is a solid gas station and decent convenience store for the area.

They're clean, they're fast, their employees are well-trained, they have their own kitchen, they have easy meals, and their drink prices are affordable. Incidentally, their coffee is also the only kind I actually like. So when I moved to Georgia, in a huge new city, I'm not sure you can possibly imagine how happy I was to see a QT station. It was like bringing a little part of home with me. Now, that said, being so far away from Oklahoma, I had expected at least some changes in policy if not at least changes in food. But there is no change. None at all. This QT could be a twin copy of the QT I frequented regularly back in Oklahoma. Everything in the store is even in exactly the same place. And the service... that remains just as good as it was back in Oklahoma. When it comes to filling up my car, I've always trusted them much more than many of the other personally-owned stations around town.

I have been a long-time repeat customer of this particular Shell location (@ corner of Five Forks…read moreTrickum @ Killian Hill Roads) for a number of years. The management are top-notch: Both the female daytime manager & male nighttime manager are CONSISTENTLY helpful, friendly, & professional while still being down-to-earth & AUTHENTIC. Each visit they recognize & convey to me the feeling that I am welcome & a truly valued customer. I grow weary of the 'Cyborg'-style employees encountered at every QuikTrip in town I've ever visited, who--though admittedly collectively dedicated & high-performing--ALWAYS seem like overly cheerful, robotic & hyped up clones of one another. I've wondered if perhaps QT employees are partially paid via a commission-like structure (based not on dollar amount but on the number of transactions they process per hour) as it is clear their ultimate goal is to literally get you in & out as quickly as humanly possible. It's empty/impersonal & leaves me feeling overly-rushed, as though I'm being pushed along on a very fast-moving assembly line, or am being told to "move along now," or post-transaction "dismissed" & energetically "escorted" out the door (albeit extremely politely). QT employees are in fact so friendly (& so over-the-top uber-positive) that same is clearly feigned, & their frenetic energy & scripted comments (obviously learned & memorized word-for-word from an overzealous corporate training program that seemingly borders on militaristic in nature) display not only ZERO warmth (& a notable affinity for dramatic stage-acting), but combined *SCREAM* "FAKE!", rendering me feeling unknown, anonymous & "just a number" as opposed to someone whose business is candidly appreciated. That's why 9 times out of 10 I take the time to drive a bit out of my way to patronize the Shell station at 4088 Five Forks in Lilburn as opposed to the slightly closer-by QT. Additionally, the in- & outside are clean & well-lit; gas prices are competitive; pumps are state-of-the-art & a breeze to use; & the convenience store is ALWAYS well-stocked & usually happens to have a few various & sundry basic item(s) I may have forgotten during my weekly grocery store/drugstore trip (at the adjacent conveniently located Publix, & either Walgreen's--formerly Rite-Aid--or CVS). In the past, they even went the extra mile & extended my slightly incapacitated elderly mother the kind & compassionate courtesy of pumping gas into her car--on a regular basis--& never once made her feel as though it were a burden. PLUS, they carry & sell my Top Three 'guilty pleasures': Mexican Coca-Cola in glass bottles (no high-fructose corn syrup or BPA-containing plastic); a VAST array of Starbuck's cold bottled coffees; & my beloved (sometimes-difficult-to-find) ORGANIC American Spirit cigarettes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Sent from my iPhone
