JR's Express while on my way to the Hobby Airport Rental Center…read more I rarely take the fuel option at National Rental Car being the cost to fuel is not a real bargain unless you bring the car back empty since the option requires buying a full tank. This station appears to be well maintained and more competitive that stations closer to Hobby. If there are any negatives in regards to fueling here while traveling to the airport it's the entrance which is on the opposite side of the boulevard and a U-turn is required to access it and exiting requires you to transverse a normally busy two lane road. I didn't interact with any of the employees here but it was a pretty busy place during my visit so it seems they have a loyal clientele...

And even though I prefer to get gas about 3 Mi North at the Murphy, this is pretty good stop if you're near the airport, and it's also near my favourite coffee place. There's also a credit store inside and a bunch of other good stuff and it's usually cheap and useful. Right on the corner but pretty busy so be careful.

The green sauce is pretty spicy and absolutely delicious! I visit this place 1-3 times a week for breakfast on my way to work. I suppose I should have headed towards some quaint part of Houston like Montrose or the Heights to hang out. However, I could think about was Lunch, home, and seeing Gayle and my son that night. So straight to HOU I went. Another thing about Houston is how disorienting it is to drive the various "Speedways" whether on the Freeways or off. I also couldn't help wondering about traffic safety (or my fate) as I spotted various billboards advertising personal injury attorneys with come ons like "Lawyer - Warrior" or "The Hammer" (Can't touch this?). Often times you'll also see a sign for say "Sonic" only to realize that to get there takes a few turns (and miles) along both sets of frontage roads. So after a few miles, heading straight to the airport and hanging out in a lounge with my favourite adult beverage sounded better all the time. But first the rental car needed gas and it was soon time to find the closest gas station to the airport. I somehow ended up on Broadway (I won't use a GPS) and found PowerFuel in this "charming" neighbourhood. Part of this urban experience included mandatory payment inside, local camaraderie, and a large row of iced beer and malt liquor ready for immediate purchase and consumption. I passed on the latter and hurried out of there. However, it gave a whole new meaning to the term "Gas and Go".

I feel like I'm a Shell of my former self, but anyway…read more This is a Shell station down in Hobby, and they also have check cashing and mid-price gas, and a pretty good and popular convenience store, so all in all it is definitely a good choice when you're down in these parts, which we often are, for example if I want to use the gym that's down here - Blink Fitness, of which I'm a member.
