But I had managed to let my tank run too far down and I did not want to run out of gas today. So here we are at this convenient station just off I-285. Two of the pumps were out of service which tends to be annoying when you're driving a vehicle that has a turning radius that approximates the State of North Dakota. So after one big circle, I was able to line up at a pump, run my credit card and purchase 21 gallons of fuel (the Sprinter van technically holds 24.5 but she was whining about "reserve") before I was out and on my way. The pump area is clean and there was no trash. It's a busy place and I would recommend being very aware of your surroundings. This happened in front of the store clerk and armed guard who didn't say a word. The males posted up outside are directing people to their next victim. The clerk would not honor the advertise sales price for two drinks. He lost my business over $1.60. I asked for a refund and left. Ladies please be safe and aware of your surroundings going here at night. To the male bums, please go get a job and stop asking women for money.

While it is quite new, I have already run into issue with machines being damaged. That is quite sad. From my couple of visits, it seems that they have enough tanks to service the crowd that they get. And the prices are reasonable - definitely MUCH better than my side of town. A quite non-shady place to get gas along this stretch.

He always allows me fill up then pay instead of annoyingly guessing how much it'll cost. I appreciate the old school trust. Also, the diesel gas here is usually a little cheaper than surrounding gas stations. Besides the outstanding friendly customer service there isn't really anything unique, but it's pleasant for mundane task of pumping gas. They have a nice selection of ice cream and beer, so no complaints.

I went to Pure on the recommendation of three childhood friends who still live here. They ALL said to go to Pure. I grew up in Decatur and left for grad school many years ago. I recently returned after living in four states during my career. I have always had three criteria when I make a move to a new location, and they have served me well. Find: 1. A Doctor you can relate to and trust. 2. Someone who gives a great haircut. 3. An auto mechanic you can trust and who does great work. I've found #3 in Decatur Pure Station. After my early check-in, I sat in the waiting area for about two hours, watching and listening to the manager interacting with customers. My observations? Friendly, matter-of-fact, clear. Andy explained everything going on with his client's cars. He made recommendations, and more importantly, noted what didn't need to be done. He gave accurate representations about when services would be completed. For my car, he got the part quickly and told me they had looked over the whole car and only found one repair that needed to be made (besides my originating situation). He was accurate in his honesty, because I already knew I was needing a new rear brake job in the next month. While my car was being repaired, I walked around downtown Decatur. I reacquainting myself with some old, and mostly new, businesses and restaurants. I arrived back at the repair shop in the mid-afternoon, just after they finished repairing the car. Andy explained everything they did, and gave me a very fair price for the service I received. Am I ever glad to have found Pure. Five Stars, and even higher.
