This place is a disgrace. They are worried about Covid yet their restrooms are disgusting dirty including the restroom walls. More than half of their stalls are broken and out of order. They also don't serve coffee or any warm drinks outside of the predetermined 5am-11am. Being a gas station on the side of a major freeway and NOT serving coffee after 11am (especially in the winter time) makes no sense at all. When I questioned whether or not I was reading the sign correctly, I was told that yes in fact I was reading it right and it's that way because of Covid. What a Joke. Spend your $4/gal somewhere else that might actually clean their restrooms and offer coffee through the day. read more

Do not stop here for a restroom. I've done a lot of road tripping and these are some of the dirtiest bathrooms I've come across. The toilets and sinks are brown with black rings, like they haven't been cleaned in years. And multiple stalls had poop smeared on the walls. No paper and heavy doors so no clean escape. I travel to and from Los Angeles and Las Vegas almost every other week for business mostly and family time. I happened to be going to see family who live in Las Vegas for the holidays. Ironically I stopped here on Christmas eve on the way to Las Vegas and on the way back New Year's eve. I remembered this Chevron not for it's fuel prices, clean bathrooms, huge selection of healthy snacks, but more for the guy behind the counter who was extremely pleasant and in a good holiday spirit. I thought wow, it's Christmas eve and here this guy is working to put food on his family's table when most people would say "heck I 'm not working that crap shift are you kidding me. Well on my way back ironically not by memory i happen to end up at the same place with the same guy on the way back. This time he really stood out in my mind and it made me stop, check in to my Yelp and leave this well deserved review that is surely a must read. I remember being very rushed and anxious to get back to LA seeing it was coming up on New years and we had friends coming to our house (with no food shopping or decorating yet). My patience was growing thin as my better half was trying to see what healthy snacks she could fit in both hands and arms. Now let's introduce "JOE" again, the cashier, the stock guy, the restroom attendant, customer service, greeter and all around I wear 20 hats, work by myself and go beyond the call of duty for this company and I even work crappy holiday shifts that no one else will "JOE. Well JOE was talking to me and trying to make me smile which can be painstaking and finally with the grand total being less than anticipated by my better half's stocking for another end of the world survival kit, I gave JOE cash. A crisp $100 bill instead of using my regular everyday preference of my overused worn out debit card. I figured I needed to lighten my load (not really) and there it went as fast as it was given to me. Goodbye Benny. Well since I hardly ever pay with cash and I was not even sure JOE would take a large bill, I took my receipt and the small amount of singles with coins JOE gave me and sprinted out the door hearing him say something, but too rushed to acknowledge,. What I did not know was that JOE had to deposit that money in a time safe and wait for 3 each $20 bills to come back from the ATM type machine behind his counter. Heck I was already in my car, engine revving and pointing south when JOE comes running out. "sir...sir you forgot your change...I asked you to wait for my machine". He chased me down almost into the street and handed me the cash. It's not the 60 bucks as I probably would have never even remembered, realized it 2 hours later at home with my time lapse memory lack thereof or just thought I dropped it on the ground like usual (hence my debit preference), The fact here is the principal of it all as here this guy could have easily kept on with his routine of scanning items and helping customers watching out of the corner of his eye and thinking/hoping well there's another dummy who just made me extra money smiling away subliminally when Instead this model employee, citizen or even angel from above jumped over the counter smiling of course, asked everybody to please wait and proceeded to show off his 30 year old high school track record of the 100 yard dash off and appeared at my car door within seconds (remember I was on a mission to get home quick). Now that folks is an honest man and he deserves either to own this store by the will of the man above, get a big raise like yesterday, or send him and his entire family to Hawaii for a decade. Honest hard working people are never a dime or dozen and in fact even saying this sounds so cliche, but I can tell you I never get to witness such acts of unforeseen human integrity live in action (not on the movie screen). After I was able to gather my thoughts in such a way to even praise this man close to what he is worth, I could only utter the words, "I bet you have good karma". JOE just smiled and started walking back to his post. I now got out of my car and said it with more perseverance, "I bet good things happen to you so often that it feels like daily routine". He said, "I really don't notice, but thank you and come back and see us again". He started to run back to his customers who were now mesmerized and now more than ever willing to wait patiently (witnessing the same inhumane and characteristic) and hoping for an encore. I said well JOE it's coming to you now from me...you see that Yelp sticker on your entrance door...well that;s me soon you will see". He just smiled and said, "My name is JOE, so come back on your next trip to and from home and he then waved like a proud mother to her child's first day in school. Unbelievable. and so if you're his boss reading this, then do the right thing for this man and let him know how much YOU appreciate JOE!!! read more

Whenever I'm sitting on the crapper in the handicap/luxury stall at the Lenwood Chevron a few thoughts normally go through my head. It kinda goes something like this: "Thank God for Lenwood." "How is this bathroom always clean?" "How is this stall always open?" "Maybe Fate has blessed my trip." "I should Yelp this place." "It's probably huge on Yelp already...wait, i didn't see a sticker on the door." "Maybe I shouldn't Yelp it, then even more people might come." Anyway, yeah, I'm a fan. I've been getting off at the Lenwood Rd exit on my Vegas-SoCal journeys for about 10 years. When I was younger, it was for the In-n-Out. Then, the Jack in the Box (I'll Yelp them next). Now, it's mostly for the Chevron. I'm sure most of you have been in a similar position...you're on a road trip, and suddenly those 3 Chalupas at Taco Bellica are no longer seeming like they were a strategic meal choice. Finally, you make it to the next exit. You park at a pump, hustle to the building, and walk through the automatic doors. You pretend like you're looking around for your preferred snack aisle, but really, you're just trying to find the bathroom without looking like you're just there to use the bathroom. Eureka! There it is. You casually, but quickly, make your way over there. You put your hand on the door, and brace yourself. What horrors await you inside? How bad will the stench be? Will there be a bum taking a bath in the toilet? Maybe you'll just have to crap in the sink. Anything could be on the other side of the flapping door. It could be madness....It could be Sparta. But you aren't in a position to shop around. Finally, you push your way through the entry, and what do you find? Well my friends, at 2890 Lenwood Rd, you can be pretty confident that you'll find a surprisingly clean & spacious commode for you to do your business. The massive amount of cars outside and people going in & out of the mini-mart belie the quality & cleanliness of the bathroom. From the little lock-operated "OCCUPIED"/"VACANT" on the stall doors to the copious amounts of hand drying equipment, it seems like they've thought of all the things you look for in a shitter when you're on a road trip. Now, it's no Harrods in there, but it doesn't cost you £1 either. I've never even seen anyone in there cleaning up. Yet, it's always clean. How's it happen? Bathroom gnomes? Those little weird things from the Scrubbing Bubbles commercials? Who knows. However it gets done though, the point is, it gets done. Now I've probably jinxed myself, raving about how great this place is. I'm sure next time I go in there, there's going to be some sort of coprophile convention happening there, but if that's the price I have to pay to share this news with you, then so be it. We always make a stop here for the kids on the way to Vegas because it is always well lit, clean, and good restrooms. They have a taco bell attached and a large mart where you can find just about everything you need. The staff is friendly and helpful. I have used this Chevron gas station quite a few times. Last stop was on Friday, 02/22/2013. Gas station is nice. Nothing to complain about it. My three stars are because on most of my trips, I have someone approached me for money. "Sir, I am really embarrassed to ask you for money but I need to reach home and I have lost my wallet" I think after so many experiences, I think there is a group which operates in this area to collect money from travelers.
