Moclips Country Store - Current hours Dec 2023

What a friendly store! The employees are all awesome. I was staying in the area of Pacific Beach,…read moreWA during the Christmas holidays of 2023. Since it is a tourist area, once the summer has gone and fall winds down, many of the local businesses shut down for the winter. This can make finding restaurants that are open hard to find. Moclips Country Store was recommended by the staff where I was staying. They had a good variety of grocery items for such a small convenience store. I was able to try their pizza a couple times and found it to be very good. The only drawback was I had to call many hours ahead, because they hand make the pizza dough the same day. They have a pretty good selection of hot food items available, and if you want something special, your request just might be granted. Other than that, I found everything I needed for my short stay in the area. As far as other items of interest, they had a little nook off to the side that had children's books and a few board games available for purchase. If you are ever in the area, Moclips Country Store is a great little convenience store to patronize. I highly recommend!

Got a more traditional coconut snack of Zingers and a muffin combo I haven't seen before: Raspberry Lime. I didn't use the kitchen service when I went but someone did & it's smelled great. Completely non-retail related is the fabulous ocean view from the employee part of the parking lot.

An example was the Tillamook cream cheese. It expired in January and here it is April. The more I began to look at things the more I found items were expired or close to their expiration date. I also have to mention that their prices have gone up a great deal in the store. It was a slap in the face to see how expensive items have gotten.

I spent roughly $300 a week on groceries conservatively speaking. The pricing of the products are higher in the Summer and tourist season. This sucks for the locals but it is common with all businesses in Ocean Shores. I recommend shopping at Costco for your staples before going on vacation in Ocean Shores. It's not uncommon to pay almost $10 for a bag of chips. Just a warning. The service is a hit or miss depending on the time of day and season. The staff can get tired of tourists and not be as friendly. The selection is limited due to the remote location of Ocean Shores. This means if you are looking for special ethnic foods and vegetables, you maybe out of luck. Bring these items from home. I am SE Asian and the selection was lacking as far as fresh herbs and greens go. I was missing many sauces over the years for stir fry like sesame seed oil, hunan, and chili oil. I drove to Olympia for Jasmine rice purchased 100lbs at a time. The deli is pricey but there is only one McDonalds in town and no other fast food options. Most the restauarants are $20 or more per entree. Hence the deli fried chicken and warn foods will look less expensive. The JoJos friend chicken is popular along with the potatoes wedges.

Usually after a few hours of driving, someone is going to need to take restroom break, right? Well, little did we know, after getting off the main highway, that didn't seem to be possible. "Public restrooms" were closed. There was one small gas station with a huge truck and port-a-potty that my husband used but confirmed would not be hygienic enough for me. You don't know how long we suffered, contemplating pulling over and running through the trees to take of care of business. Although it took us forever to find, Queets Trading Post was the only place with an actual restroom on Google Maps that we could find. As we arrived, the worker greeted us. The store was clean, stocked, had breakfast items- but most importantly, there it was, shining in all its glory: the word "Restrooms"!!! It was clean, it had a message on the wall stating something like, "We keep our restrooms public as a service, so please treat the restroom with respect and keep it clean," and oh did I do just that! I respected that restroom more than any I had in years. Ok well it felt like years. After the beautiful relief, we filled up on gas and went on our merry way. Thank you, Queets Trading Post. You helped us out more than you'll ever know.
