Chestnut Electric helped me when I had an emergency situation with a fuse continually shorting which coincidentally was to the refrigerator. It was just after hurricane Ida hit the tri state area and electricians were booked. Chestnut was really responsive and the technician was very helpful- checked out all possibilities and changed the fuse. Really great service. read more

Back in the summer ('22), just before 4th July weekend, new to our just purchased mid-century ranch house with a pool, my wife called Chestnut electric to have them come "check on" the pools electric system (pump wiring, grounding, timer, etc) to make sure everything ok/safe for July 4th weekend. Note, everything WAS working fine...just wanted a safety check. Well, the next morning after Chestnut had done the work, when I arrived at house (had not even fully moved in yet), I find the pool pump has been blown/shorted out, timer wiring now backwards (lead and load lines crossed), etc...nothing working/operable....on the Friday before the 4th, with absolutely NO CALL from Chestnut letting me know what happened...when I called their office, it was new news to them. Tony, the owner got on the phone with me, and basically told me to "relax, its just a pool, its not life or death". That was it from Chestnut, other than a vague recommendation from them as to where I could take my pool pump for repair (that they broke) and said "good luck and happy 4th". follow on to next day, when I had spent $3K in an emergency for new pump, and having the pool guys install it that morning....Tony, the Chestnut electric owner, shows up at my house, unannounced, uninvited, yelling at me and demanding payment on the spot in a very threatening manner. Thankfully the pool guys were there, and helped me to urge Tony off my property as he was out of line. subsequently, after the 4th July weekend, I had another local electrician come in, on my nickel ($500+) to fix the "work" that Chestnut had done. Net message...don't use them....they are neither reliable or trustworthy in my experience with them. read more

For years my Uncle in New Canaan, CT has been talking about transforming his basement into a home theater. I honestly never thought it would happen, but this past winter he finally put his money where his mouth was. He chose Chestnut Electric Corporation out of Wilton to do the electrical work including installing brand new wiring and putting in recessed theater lighting complete with custom dimmers. They were courteous and professional from the initial estimate to completion of the project which was finished on schedule. I couldn't believe the transformation. He screened Die Hard over Christmas break and I seriously felt like I was out at the movies (the popcorn helped!) My Uncle only had the best things to say about these guys and would've written this review himself, but calling him internet-resistant would be putting it lightly. read more

My name is Saul and I'm an extremely satisfied customer and I would like to share my experience with you. As a home owner and a real estate agent in NY and CT I get in contact with a number of service men and women plumbers, painters, electricians etc.. Rarely do I write reviews however, given Ray's hard work I had to reach out to you as I feel he needs to be recognized for his excellent work. That being said I reached out to Chestnut for two electrical items we wanted done. The first to install four digital thermostats and updating our back up generator switch box and cables. Let me tell you Ray didn't disappoint. Thermostat were difficult to address, but Ray never stopped trying to make them work. Instead Ray saw it as a challenge and didn't stop until the thermostat were working. Since being installed in December we have not had a single issue with the devices. Once again, a true testament to Ray's hard work and attention to detail. What also makes him stand out from the crowd is that he is knowledgeable, informative, thorough, trustworthy and personable. Ray embodies the word professional. It doesn't stop there as Ray also switch out an old Switch box and cable in extremely cold conditions and showed me how connect and operate the backup gen system. Murphy's law - never lost power this entire winter. I'm not complaining about that! I must also recognize Nick who was extremely helpful throughout the process coordinating dates and times. During a recent extended power outage that impacted my business they came out on short notice to help bridge power and adapted my electric panel for generator hookup while we waited restoration. The service was courteous, professional and thorough. They maintained excellent communication during process and we were up and running within 4 hours. The price was reasonable and fair. Tony and Nick did a great job on a very difficult project that took a long time to resolve. We needed the electric meter box at our house replaced and Tony's team spent many many hours going back and forth with the town and utility company to get all permits and inspections handled. The town and utility company were both difficult to schedule with and this was compounded by all the tree/wind damage this past winter. However, Tony did a great job dealing with all the delays, working with our landscaper to make the necessary changes, and installing the new box seamlessly. It would have been a nightmare/impossible to do myself. I've already asked them to do some follow up work elsewhere in our house and we are so grateful for Tony's patience, professionalism, and hard work. read more

Had a small problem and they sent out a technician immediately. The electrician arrived within a half-our as promised, was pleasant and diagnosed the problem quickly. It turned out no significant repair was needed so they adjusted the bill accordingly. It's nice to know that even on a one-off service call they will be prompt and courteous, and only charge for the level of service needed. Well done and highly recommended. read more
