I was shocked to see a really negative review on Dr. Klenofsky when I was using Yelp to pull up the…read morelocation for a new neighbor who was looking for a veterinarian, which which in turn prompted this review. We started taking our dogs to Dr. K in 1983, when I first moved to St. Louis after college, so I wanted to address this with my own first hand experience. Dr. K was a young man then, as was I, and the knowledge, intelligence, and compassion were obvious from the start. I was absolutely shocked by the things that were written in this negative review. Dr. K does have state of the art equipment, is amazingly accurate with his diagnoses, and is so well thought of by so many people. Also, don't judge a book by it's cover; Forum Vet is in a 45 year old shopping center, so, he can't very well change that, nor would any of us who have been taking our pets to him for decades want him to, or expect him to. Here's a little story. We were at dinner one night with a fairly large group at the Charcoal House on Manchester when the subject of our pets came up, as well as health issues, who had which Veterinarian, etc. As it turned out everyone at the table was using Dr. K, and there were so many stories about how their pets lives were literally saved by Dr. K's accurate diagnosis's and proper treatment. Additionally , Dr. K 's wife runs the office and she is incredibly compassionate and always does the right thing. She also does everything in her power to make sure that you're seen by Dr. K when your pet needs care. Also, if you notice, when you get his card, it has his home number on it. He told us to never call an emergency vet because he will answer the phone. We had an incident years ago when our dog was given some ibuprofen. A quick check on the internet said that it was lethal. We called an "Emergency Vet" who told us to give our dog hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting which was entirely unnecessary and just caused our dog more distress. I got a thorough explanation from Dr. K why inducing vomiting was the wrong move. With regard to the pricing at Forum Vet; it's not out of line by any means. Also, what hasn't gone up; over the past few years especially. When I'm looking for medical advice and care, I damned sure don't try to find the cheapest physician for myself or my pets. Rest assured that when you take your beloved pet to Dr. Klenofsky at Forum Vet, your pet is in the best of hands, with a Veterinarian who loves what he does, and he told me the other day that he doesn't see himself ever retiring as long as he's able to provide excellent care for his patients. Sorry for the rant, but the record needed to be set straight. Dr. Klenofsky is the best veterinarian I've ever met, and this is my honest opinion from the last 42 years of him caring for our pets.

My 8 year old chocolate lab Tootsie has suffered from skin allergies for 6 years…read more She licked her paws until they were raw with sores, drug her behind on the floor yuck, shook her ears silly, scratched constantly and rub up against the furniture. Tootsie was one smelly dog from yeast infections on her neck and every crevice you can imagine. I had tried everything from special foods, allergy free shampoo/detergent, $100 per month Apequel pills then $200 per Citopoint shots. Everything and anything at any cost to relieve her suffering but nothing worked. Less than a month ago someone referred me to Dr. Klenofsky. He and his wife Gail diagnosed Tootsie with having food and skin allergies. They prescribed medicine and non allergenic food/treats to treat her internally. In addition, medicated shampoo to treat her externally by constant bathing and thoroughly drying her afterward. Their prescribed treatment was a success. The hair has grown back on all of her paws, she has a beautiful shiny coat and can rest peacefully without itching. My only regret is not finding out about Dr. Klenofsky sooner.

I used the actual vet services now. My dog got a substantial wound at day care and my regular vet…read morewas full for surgery so I came here unscheduled. The first visit, I got seen pretty quickly and they stitched him up. It was understandable in this case they did not care about any presurgical blood work or if he was fasted. When he was picked up, they did not supply any post op instructions other than "give the pain meds that you have at home" what?!! I've never received any medication from this vet office. My husband didn't know better and left. I then called later and told them I had the NSAID Previcox at home to which they told me to give that the "evening of the procedure, it only lasts 8 hours and he had it during surgery". It sounded fishy to me because I know it lasts 24 hours. In the end, I called my vet to get instructions. Also, my dog reacted pretty badly to the anesthesia given here. Normally he acts pretty normal. My vet said that what they gave "really packed a punch". I needed to ask the following day about the large amounts of seepage from the wound. I couldn't figure out which number to call, so I emailed and a vet did call me that day to say it was probably ok. In the end, 2 days later the sutures came open and I had to return to the office after my vet said it was too deep to heal on it's own. I waited on a room over an hour. That vet was thorough and nice and told me it had to heal on it's own. She gave good instructions. I made two more visits after that. Once, I walked in and the only woman at the desk was on the phone for 15 min taking 10 different spay/neuter appts over the phone from a rescue, I assume, before she checked me in. I'll stick to my regular vet but this place can work if you're in a pickle.

The day came for the appointment. I go inside and they tell me the appointment was made for the Mackland location, not Maryland Heights. My 16 year old dog who is hard to transport, and they turned us away. The receptionist never even made an attempt to ask anyone if they could help. I've never been to the Mackland location, so when I made the appointment, it seemed to make sense that it would be for the only location I've ever visited. All she could offer me was I could still make the 515 , a 30 min drive from Dorsett in rush hour traffic. My dog desperately needed grooming but could not be groomed without her shots. I e been going to the Maryland Heights location since before Covid. Truly disappointed.

I brought my cat here for an emergency. I called them and they said I could come that very same day…read moreand gave me an appointment. If you guys have tried taking your pet to an emergency clinic, you know rare it is that a hospital will give you a specific time to come. Usually they tell you to come wait in a parking lot for an unknown amount of time for at least 3 hours. I usually take my cat to the humane society, but they were closed from the snow. Thank goodness this clinic was open. The biggest difference between VCA and the humane society is that when you call VCA, you speak directly to a person at the front desk. At the humane society, you are put on hold for a long time, then you talk to someone at a call center who then puts your message in the system and then you wait for the vet to eventually call you back. VCA is very accessible and available. We saw Dr. Bruemmer and she was so kind. She explained his status clearly and comforted us saying we did everything we should have to take care of our cat. They sent us home with pills for the cat to take, which is difficult because they always spit it up. The technician offered that we could bring our cat in and they could give him the pill. I think it is so wonderful that they would offer to do this. When my cat's condition worsened, they sent us to a more specialized hospital and the vet contacted the new vet telling him we were coming and discussed my cat's condition. Unfortunately, my cat didn't make it. Dr. Bruemmer, who I had only seen for 2 visits and known for 24 hours, called me after finding out my cat's condition and wanted to see how I was doing. She spoke positive things about my cat's character and said we could talk or answer any questions I had. She is the most caring vet I have ever encountered. She legitimately cares about every animal she cares for even though she wasn't his primary vet.

Be cautious. We moved and called to see if they would accept my puppy and my elder dog. Of course…read morethey were absolutely. My elder dog has a lot of health issues. They saw her, got us a referral to a specialist and all was well. However, once I needed a medication refill for one of them. All of the ladies there are polite. But, I called in for a refill and Heather at the front desk who is very very difficult to understand when she speaks stated, " We are busy and close at 5pm" I explained to her it was morning, I didn't need it right then but calling to pick it up the next day. She again stated, " What, it's not going to be ready because we want to go home." Fast forward by a few months. We've spent several thousand dollars there on both of our dogs. Most folks wouldn't do that unless they love their pets dearly. I contacted them on a Friday late morning to relate that my elder dog had been throwing up. This Heather answered, " Stated, what is it you need." I asked if they could help. She very loudly and rudely stated, " HOLD ON". She came back to the phone, stated I would need to bring my elder dog and admit her to their hospital and they would see her when they could. I shared with Heather that my dog would be terrified if we leave her there in a kennel. She proceeded to tell me they were too busy but would put her in the hospital. My concern was if they were too busy to see my dog then why would they admit her and leave her laying in the hospital. Of note, I did not say a word of that concern with Heather. I called approximately one hour later, and spoke with Heather again. She is very difficult to understand, and I am sorry she has a medical issue causing her to speak baby talk. I asked if I could schedule my elder dog for the next day, or the next week. Heather stated, " Nope, we won't schedule her. You were given the only option we are giving you to drop her off and we will keep her in our hospital. That is all we will offer you." My dogs are established at this facility. Again note we spend large amounts of money on our animals. We just wanted to bring our dog in for a visit at some point to keep her comfortable. Heather very very loudly stated with an extremely inappropriate cadence of infant talk " GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!" We are blindsided by this facility having someone so cold, uncaring, and intentionally wanting our precious girl to suffer. Please be very careful when choosing a vet. Everyone else there has been great, but this woman should not be working where there are living creatures who need care, compassion, and medical treatment.
